How many stands do you have

I manage just over 8,000 acres. I use 6-8 ground blinds, 20-25 lock on stands, 3-5 ladder stands, 2 permanent box blinds, and 4 climbers in an average season. It depends on deer activity and movements during pre season which will determine how many of each I use. Lock on stands make up the majority of the stands used, but a few clients prefer ground blinds and box blinds so having options for different hunting styles and changing wind directions. I use the 4 climbers every season to adjust from a lock on position if the deer are traveling just out of range as it is easier to move and quieter. I move stands and blinds constantly through the season to stay with the current deer movements, from food source in early season, to bedding and rut searching corridors, back to food sources in late season. During deer season, I only book a maximum of 5 clients (4 is ideal) per week, so my system of stands and stand to acre ratio works for what I am doing.

One that is about 10 years old ( steel tubing ) would not trust it any more + way too many younger trees on the whole property ,not worth putting any up ,I have 3 climbers and not using them either, My ground blinds work just fine.

Besides after loosing the use of me right hand and wrist for 16 weeks I am way behind on every thing more important.I do not think I will be using a bow this year.

I almost purchased (ready to send the money ) for a X bow and lost the use of the hand the same day.

So I am back to as I started hunting from the ground.

Elmo, most of ours are basic ladders that can be had for 40 to 50 bucks on sale at the right time. Some are hangons and some are expensive ladders...either two mans or oversized/high platforms. That doesnt include pur collection.of mobile stands for carry in/out.

Imo, you either nred to be mobile are carpet bomb your hunting properties. Certain stands will be good year to year at certain times, but many will be put of a rotation for one reason or another...crops change, movements change etc.

I think one of the most limiting things a hunter can do is be limited to a few stands if they are not mobile.

Hunters get lazy and presets allow for hunters to overhunt and also not make moves when needed. Some of our stands are ten or twenty yards away from one another to fit wind and thermals.

Hmm out back around 30 acres, I box blind, 2 ladder and one hang on and a ground blind under that hanger for the old man in gun. Just me usually and then my brother and Dad a couple days.

Prop 2 - 35 acres or so, 3 ladder stands just 2 of us hunt there mostly.

Other couple of properties or state we use climbers or brush blinds in gun.

Geez! How much money do you guys spend on stands? 40+ stands at around $200 per stand? Or am I missing something?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Just picked up 2 muddy lite stands and 2 sets of climbing sticks for $260 at Dick's. Find the sales and buy it if you can. I saved $220 total.

I have one permanent stand, Four or so hangon stands, a climber, and a ground blind. Had a couple blinds crap to bed lately.

Stand sites is more my thing as I usually prep spots for my climber. I've got a dozen for that on 350+ acres. That's with lots of fields too.

I have 2-6x8 home made towers (more like houses on stilts with heat and all haha) 18 hang on stands with 3 more ready to go but didn't have time to get them in this year and 2 pop up blinds on 115 acres.  Basically hunt alone but my dad hunts with me a few times per season.
