Include his back tag, and always ask to de chamber the gun/empty the bullets when escorting them off.

this is a bow only unit northern westchester, got the guys information and cell phone, he knew he wasn't supposed to be on this land as he took my bow hook off the tree before climbing down and I didn't notice, unreal as to the lack of respect people have im surprised my trail cam was still there and he didn't steal that too. had to scramble and improvise using one hook for my bag and bow.

Or lets try this....

He felt bad that he may have messed up your hunt and was being sporting about it .

or

He was clearly on your land and seeing you "waited a minute" before announcing your presence ...being made to feel uncomfortable he was trying to be polite in offering you the deer...

but alas different mind sets I suppose..

A literal a minute grow. Just enough for them to find the deer. Your point is fair, but we have prior agreements about recovery, so while he may have felt bad about the hunt a simple apology might have been ok and I wasn't mad. But this is the same guy who cut shooting lanes on posted property, hauled off all the evidence and painted the cuts black so maybe he didn't have a tag.

There are 7 guys doing a deer drive in the woods that I hunt with a friend.... Very respectful... I ran into one and he asked where my friend was and where I was going to be so the would not bother us.... He did say he had to walk past where my friend was to link up with his buddies... Told him I would text my friend to let him know he was coming... Said they will be gone around 12 I'm gunna head in and come back out around 1

Chefhunter - sorry bud......Another drive that ruins it for some!  I just don't understand the excitement of it.  Btw, as liberal as this state is; when is NYS going to make deer drives illegal?  I normally wouldn't agree with the Gov't telling us what to do but this is one I wouldn't mind seeing.  Go get one later Chef.

Thanks everyone! It was a hell of a rush to do two with a muzzleloader.

The story was about 9 am I had 5 doe come in behind me and being that this was going to be my last time out for the year I looked for the biggest lead doe found my opening and squeezed off. She went down in 30 yards. Then to my surprise I looked and saw this buck running and stopped in the same exact area! He started to run off and I let out a couple grunts with my mouth while I reloaded and he started to come back. Waited for him to come from behind the tree and squeezed off again. He went down 40 yards from her.

Needless to say doing all this with a smoke pole was AWESOME! And I can't say enough good things about my TC Encore!

Safe well managed drives I have no issue with. I imagine you are on public land that you think is yours?

I agree they can be done not on first or last watch, opening weekend...

A good drive is a piece of hunting history, as is still hunting not just sitting on your azz all day.

Room for all of us, I especially like when they go past and send me a deer!

Fletch, most deer are harvested because someone pushed it into a stand hunter...and that's great. Nothing wrong with a good old fashion deer drive, that's how things were done years ago.

Today, many like the "one on one" method...that's OK too. But nothing brings home the bacon like a deer drive ( builds camaraderie too ). Lot's of ways to skin a cat....no????

Little before 10am, a doe came by. Let one fly at 40yrds and heard a nice thump and she bedded down not 10 yards away. Hope she's down.

I went out to Letchworth today i haven't hunted there in a couple of years as soon as we get there the park gate at the castle entrance is closed so we dive to a farm and went down into the park spent 5 hrs stalking with a friend and seen one deer in the distance then we dive to the east side of tge park and I started to slowly push the thick swamp toward my friend I made it 30 yards and hard a deer jump up I yelled to him thst it was coming to him he got a 5pt buck at 25yards and dropped in its tracks. A very fun and succeed day

They finally started combining corn today in my area NW8J. So I headed for one of my  treestands and at 4:05pm I connected on my first deer of the season a 1.5yr old doe, 150yds out, using my old Savage Model 99 chambered in 300 savage, with an old Weaver 4power scope. One shot through the heart went about 35yds, Meat in the freezer.

      Hi Everyone,
It is current the last week for regular season in upstate NY. Living the life working and being a full time student, I have some time off this week and would like to take a ride upstate to do a gun hunt. Never have I hunted public land in the areas 3 G, F, or N and was looking for some recommendations and help! I had used the DEC info locator and found California Hill and thought I might go there. Is there any recommendations on areas to go to in any of the wmu’s? Or on California? Any help would be really appreciated!!

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

I'm new to the area and looking for some places to hunt  the next few weekends through bow/muzzleloader season. I'm living in New Paltz, and the place that seems the most promising to me so far is Vernooy Kill State forrest, and north into Sundown. Has anyone had any luck in these areas? Is there anywhere better in the area I should check out? Any info is welcome

      Hi Everyone,
My name is Raul and I am a new hunter! I've been hunting public land for now, but have been suffering. I've done 2 10 hour sits at Kings Park and 3 10 hour sits at Rocky Point and haven't seen one deer. I use a treestand and use scent blocker. I also get there super early in the morning. I need help! I plan to go again this friday. I scouted Rocky point after the first day and always see sign and I try to hunt the areas, but no success. I hunt around 42 and 36 I think. If someone wants the exact spot I can send them it on a map. I am really just looking for help in any areas and everything. I have put so much effort yet all i want is to just see one that will keep moral up. Any help is really appreciated!
