There is a reason the saying "playing opossum" was thought of. They really don't resist and actually do play dead when in imminent danger. I have come across 3 in the woods. Could have killed all three with a stick. Porcupines are very similar. You can walk right up to them.

She's not a gold star gay.  She mentioned that she had a bad male relationship prior to her girlfriend.  And yes, I admit knowing what gold star gay means.

My only one encounter with an opossum, it didn't actually play dead.  It stood still like a statue.  I encountered it in mid stride so it was completely frozen with one front leg in the air and one back leg in the air as if you took a picture of it while it was running.  I stood there for like a minute and the thing didn't so much as bat an eye lash.  I turned and walked a few steps away and when I turned back, I saw it's butt scuttling away.  Is that common or is that just a crazy opossum I ran into?

I think for the show she reverted back to her male relationship days, I'm not sure what gold star gay means but I'm assuming from your useage it means gay from day one never had interest in a man?

[Five Seasons]

There was a show where they dropped a bunch of guys separately all over Vancouver island. They had to self film, last man to tap out wins. That was awesome. A few came out almost immediately. I think the winner went 60 days but can't remember for sure

Alone. I hope they bring it back. Really enjoyed it.

I agree Belo. It was a great show. It showed how being isolated in the woods alone can mess with your mind in a big way. Fear becomes an enemy you need to either embrace or let take over.

 

 

 

As for this season of Naked And Afraid, it's looking like they are going in a slightly different direction. A little more along the risky side. Not liking the subtle change.

Haven't watched any new episodes, but have gotten caught up on the past ones. Couple of things automatically come to mind. Isn't there a blatant attempt to pair up polar opposites just to increase the drama effect of the show? Basically, scripting events that otherwise were supposed to be real scenarios. Ah, reality TV...!??! Also, bet they won't be shooting any more shows in Guyana after the last couple that went the 21 days and suffered long term effects of bugs, fly or flea bites long after the episode's shooting. The things people will do for money or 15 minutes of fame!!!

As far as the first few episodes of naked and afraid, it's no coincidence that they're pairing people willing to get freaky with homosexuals. I don't mind it, but just hope the show doesn't get too much away from what made it so popular in the first place.

Didn't watch the 1st season of Alone but saw tonight's season premier. Was Desmond the quickest tap out ever? Only lasted a few hours.

Yes. The first season of Alone a dude tapped out after a few hours too. If I remember he was just an average dude, and got scared of being alone. The dude that tapped out this season got scared of bear scat. He had a great location too, water and flat land for shelter.

That show really does test the fortitude of your mental capacity in very extreme circumstance. But, unlike the other shows, Alone offer a huge prize. $500,000 for the one stays the longest. Last years winner lasted 56 days to get the prize.

season 1 a guy quit the first night because of bears, but iirc in his defense he was at least sleeping and there were bears around. Desmond was acting like a dude that's never even been in the woods before.

I thought the dude that quit on season 1 with the bears was like three nights in, and yes, they went and got him at night. I agree that having bears in your camp is different from just seeing scat.

yeah I can't remember for sure. I just feel like with a bag full of gear I could at least make it a few days

I noticed no one thus far bought a firearm as one of their 10 items.  Is it not allowed?  I'd imagine a small survival 22lr or pellet gun would feed you for a long time off of small rodents, lizards, and birds.

I wasn't sure of the actual rules until I watched that "Making The Cut" special. You can take and use primitive hunting and fishing gear. No fire arms.
