One of my favorite memories of Alaska in 2009 was hearing loons on the lake in Talkeetna.  The lake had fog rolling off it and barely visible and the loons  were singing. Gives me goose bumps thinking about it. 

Yeah, I love hearing them. The second morning the fog was like pea soup but you could hear them singing to each other around the lake. Last night I went down to the beach at around 11pm to shoot star photos and they were calling then as well, they were still at it when I was drifting off to sleep at around midnight.

Actually, the birds in Real's pictures could be most any bird you want them to be...

Personaly, I think they were the last remnant of the nearly extinct Kazooniezoonie  bird.

The Kazooniezoonie  bird is nearly extinct due to it's strange social habit of flying in ever decreasing concentric circles until it flies up its own  a**hole....

The Kazooniezoonie  bird is nearly extinct due to it's strange social habit of flying in ever decreasing concentric circles until it flies up its own  a**hole....
