To Pee Or Not To Pee

In scrapes? I may try to experiment this fall. Do you do it? Does it work for you? Bad results or great results? I'd like to know what does and doesn't work. Opinions? Lets hear em!

From what I understand is the " human " scent dissipates quickly and the deer smell only the ammonia in our urine. I've been drinking a big ole iced coffee on my hour drive to check cams. The toughest part is I gotta whiz so bad by the time I actually get to my made scrape. I actually jogged a little bit the last time to make it. Lol. Picked up a few bucks on cam nearby first check but they hadn't scraped . Second time i checked I had camera in menu mode so no pics. Doh.

I once heard Bear Grylls say that if you pee around your camp site it'll keep the predators away.

At the very least, you shouldn't have any bears, cougars, or coyotes around to spook your bucks!

I have tried it a couple times, but scrapes went dead afterwards. But I'm wanting to give it another try. Not sure what went wrong. I know it has worked for others.

Did you happen to eat asparagus before peeing in scrape ?

Tried it once and it didn't seem to work anymore or less than using bottled buck urine. Bucks seemed to stay on routine. Give it a run, a lot of guys swear it works.

They may check it but when it comes to breeding time and they scent check the scrape from downwind you will be beat. Its all about the Pheromones for  success in breeding season so i will stick to the real stuff....

I have never intentionally peed in a scrape, but as much as I pee nowadays, I MUST had hit at least a couple.

 

Some days you can follow me around the woods by  my CHARMIN trail too,  but I don't think you'd want to...

The hardest thing is trying to be quiet, when it falls 20' onto the leaves it is loud or seems it.

I've tried it over and over for years and set up cameras on the scrapes, and not just any scrapes, but smokin' hot scrapes with the overhanging branch.  They all, each and every one went dead. Maybe it is just the individual because other guys swear by it. Something to do with my chemistry, hormones, whatever. I find that the best thing I can do to a scrape is don't get near it, walk around to check the camera. It would be great if it worked. What a deal, relieve yourself and attract bucks at the same time. I never pee near my stands either.

This could also be if you put down too much human scent they got spooked from it. I doubt urine was the problem or at fault. I have done it for a few years and haven't had any bad effects from it. I didn't bring in anymore deer but also didn't scare them all off.

I'm wondering if health issues like being a diabetic has any bearing on the success of this working or not.

I bought some large zip ties, and will try to make my first mock scrape soon.

Yes, I'm diabetic. With a couple other things I'm taking meds for.

Then that is probably the reason...vitamin B6 will also cause this...any multivitamin as well .
