What Is It?

I've had this picture since 2009 and even posted it here years ago I believe.  I always sold it as a bear's ear..........at the time I retrieved the card; the camera was tilted sideways, the camera base cover was on the ground and the camera had marks in it that sure looked like they were from an animals teeth.

I look at it now and still wonder, is it a bear? 

What do you see?

My first thought was a bear. However, I could just as easily believe it to be a close-up raccoon.

I too had my camera messed with and pulled from the tree. I found it and the culprit was  bear. Broke the strap and plastic housing. That is a bear you're looking at.

Had that happen this year with a different camera.  Just fixed it last week....

Could be a mountain lion.  But getting pictures like this is one of the reasons I like my browning cams set to video. A 30 second clip with sound would have given us a lot more to look at.

BEAR, especially when you said the cover was on the ground and the camera was marked up. # of my cameras have fallen victim to bears in the past. Their too damn curious of critters!

Definitely Bear. Had the same thing happen to two cameras over the years, and he got his photo taken both times as the camera landed lens up.

During the day usually either my mistake due to typing,phone call distractions and just tired. (well,  that's a good example of tired and not redoing)

When I check a cam and see a muddy nose smudge on it, I can usually count on a bear picture. The sure are curious and will give the camera a good sniff when they spot it.
