A lot of upper income people in the deep blue high tax states like NY, NJ, CT, CA.... are going to feel a pinch, for sure. At least in the early days until the paycheck catches up with the loss of the deductions. I feel bad for the folks who didn't vote the "high tax" officials into office to begin with, but the blame needs to fall entirely on the "Limousine Liberals" who have kept these states dependent on the SALT deductions in order to subsidize their poor voting habits and propensity for virtue signalling.

I think, overall, the tax plan is good for the country. I also think that 4 or 5 states (who overwhelmingly voted for Clinton BTW) should not be able to control national policy. Thank God for the Electoral College in presidential elections.

everything I've read about it says not good for NY, but good for the country..

So, what are you reading? My research indicated that about 80% of Americans will see tax relief. That's not half bad.

it looks like ny,nj,ca & conn. won't be getting a tax break there's a $10,000 cap on property no biggie on the upstate property but a $2000 lose on long island.

Try 10k loss in Westchester. I also know people that pay over $100k a year in property tax

You know, instead of us here in the "lib" states whining and stamping our feet over the fact that our high state taxes are causing us to lose out on the full potential of the tax cuts, maybe we ought to be doing something about our state legislators who run the state government like they have an endless pit of free money. It seems to me like you all are getting ticked off at the wrong people. Maybe it's not so bad that we are getting a boot in the butt by having our tax situation being highlighted with this tax law. A little reminder of the conditions that we have allowed to fester here is not a bad thing.

This is a great video about how the tax bill actually will affect some different income levels around the country. Made a believer out of some skeptics.

I have no idea how that piece ever ended up on the air, but I'm certainly glad it did. It's almost like the 'elite' media might just be dialing back their anti-Trump propaganda. :-]

We can only hope they are starting to see the light :)

Really its the welfare state we fund through our taxes that hurts us. Not the bill. Vote out the libs come November and things can go back to the way they should be here

I think most of us here in NY will come out roughly the same. I'll be saving in lower tax rate but have less property and state income deduction. I make above the median income and don't think I'll be hit hard (if at all). We'll find out for sure after the accountants go over the details.

Philosophically it makes a lot of sense. Why should a plumber in New Hampshire subsidize tax and spend NY residents.

When Governor Cuomo attends the national governors meetings he should ask the "red state" governors how they survive on lower taxes.  We can only wonder how badly Cuomo will take their answer!

The new tax bill is a wake up call for governors like Cuomo.  Politicians like Cuomo support over sized wasteful government and generous social program spending to appease their supporters of such destructive and repressive actions.

I’m in Westchester and will be taking bit of a beating - $18,000 prop tax. Accountant called and told me to pre-pay my 2018 taxes. Sure- let me just pull $18,000 out of my a$$. Just not happening as a family of five in a 1 income household (unless you care to count my wife’s pay from the church which is paltry for the work/time she gives).

The thing that might (and I hope) make up for it is the reorganized tax brackets. If what I saw is correct. My wife and I would lose on the property tax like you, but win on the tax bracket since we would drop 9%. Again, not sure if that would make up the difference?
