I am sure I told the story about losing a CZ premium 30-06 by setting it on my truck (forgetting it) and driving off to the range only to have it returned to me by an honest young man.  That was pretty amazing and truly a tribute to the young man.

I also had a box with a new pottery barn chandelier fly out of my pickup unknowingly.   My wife called as I was driving and said it was returned before I knew it was gone. There are still lots of honest helpful people around.

I was up at a buddy's camp deer hunting. We took 5 that day and we were cutting them up.  I took off my wedding ring and put it in my right front pants pocket ....with my keys. once we finished and cleaned up I was running late for gettign home. I raced to my truck that was parked in a golden rod field next to the cabin. reached in and pulled out my keys and headed home. Once I got there I reached in to put on my ring.. Nope it was gone. Back up the next day and even a couple times with a metal detector. no dice. I have bad luck with rings. I made the mistake of breaking up with my high school girl friend in a remote location. We were parked and she very calmly got out of the car and threw my gold class ring into the nearby standing corn field. I don't wear or buy rings anymore...lol

Too many to count but a $300 Garmin gps comes to mind and some really good sunglasses. I left a pair of Costas on top of my truck in RI and drove to Buffalo, they gone. And a nice pair from Orvis fell off my face into the Gulf of Mexico ten minutes after I cut the monofilament lanyard off because it was aggravating me

My buddy has a Mets World Series ring (front office). He went to wash his hands at a bar in NYC and there it was on the back of the sink, from when he washed his hands at least an hour earlier. I told him I'm sure tons of guys picked it up, saw it was the Mets, and put it back lol

I don't buy this story at all.  A Mets guy washing his hands, c'mon.

Long story, but 30-06 was returned to police who returned it to me.  I called the kid and asked for his info to send a reward and he absolutely refused.  Trust me, I wanted to.  Said he just wanted to do the right thing and would not take a thing.

Few years ago, for my birthday, my wife and grandsons gave me a pretty expensive rod and reel combo for bass fishing. Before any fishing trip, I always rig up at least 6 to 8 rods, to be ready for wherever I'm going, then put them in the rod lockers on my boat. Shortly after, I was fishing the Mohawk, below Lock 10, opened the rod locker to get that rig and it's not there! Opened the other locker, nadda. To this day, I have no idea how or where I lost it. The only thing that makes sense, is I must have left it on the deck of the boat, and it flew off on my way to the river. My boat is not that big, so I know I would have seen it? And all the other rods were where they were supposed to be?

That's a solid kid! Good dude. Though I think I would at least be willing to meet up and shake your hand if I returned your gun.

I lost they key fob for my truck once. Cost over $500 between having it flat bedded to the dealer and replacing the key and fob. I found the one I lost a week later laying under some hostas next to the house.

I turned in a lease and couldn’t find the spare key, cost me $275. Naturally I found it a few months later in the couch

I forgot about the fishing trip right before the safe act. I had brought all my guns with me to show my buddies. Then the boat tipped over and they all sank to the bottom. man was i pissed.

Look into a Tile.....goes on your key ring and uses an app to locate the missing item it is attached to....they also make one for a money clip....life saver in my opinion.

I found a real nice Buck folding knife when I was a youngster rabbit hunting up north. It was on a friends property and none of his family had lost it. Carried that knife hunting all over creation for two years and lost it right back in the same frickin area I had found it.

Lost a diamond ring my dad had given me that was my grandfathers. I should have put it in the safe but being a dumb kid wore it. Pretty sure I lost it gutting a deer but could not find it. For close to three decades I've been telling myself I am going to go back there with a metal detector.

Best gift ever for my wife   $25     Locate your phone (will ring even if on silent)  by pressing the Tile on the keys ) Use Ap on phone to locate the keys   And my head is more than a hat rack you know   If she loses both I have the Ap too

I lost a Kershaw DWO folder around 1985 or '86 in a gut pile and I should have gone back with a MD. (nice little 5pt.)  Man I made a great shot on him!  Tinks69 stopped him in his tracks and a Razorbak5 shut him down, in sight.

Sorry for the derail......
