Tughill Tamer
Looking for some suggestions to get out and keep out pigeons from the top of my chimney. I believe they are nesting in the there. I have scared some away by throwing a ball up on the roof but before you know it there back. I don't have a ladder to reach to the roof ( about 20 ft up) not to mention it's sloped pretty good so I wouldn't feel comfortable being up there anyways. Would turning on the furnace encourage them to leave for good? And would it be safe to do so if they got a nest in there I surely don't need to start a fire. I've talked to a few people about it and one suggestion was to put up a fake owel which is great but I can't get to the top of the roof and another suggestion was to just leave it be for now they probably have young ones in there and will leave on their own when the young ones can fly. Looking for any advice you might have to offer I'm sick of sweeping the pigeon crap out of my driveway everyday. Help! ny hunter
If there is a nest and they raise young they well never leave... Try the owl just get it as close as you can... If not a good pellet gun works as a last resort...

Tughill Tamer
I borrowed a BB gun from my buddy ( I own nothing smaller than a 243 and thought that would be an overkill) and have that option but I live in the city so have to be careful about shooting any gun as my neighbors houses are pretty close. Also Id have to pick them off before they got to the chimney once in there I wouldn't have a clear shot.Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

Doewhacker
If I was near you I’d set up my pigeon trap and use the birds for dog training. But I’m on the other side of the state. Bummer
grampy
Just to be safe. Have someone check for any obstructions in the chimney before turning on the heat!!! A fire, or carbon monoxide, is not something you want! The grate around the chimney opening is the best way to keep out pests.

Bonus they can install a new cap to keep them out in the future while they are up there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Fantail
This reminds me of the entrance to Gander. Up in the raft timber above the doors they had lots of spikes to detur birds.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
