Looks like a big 2.5 but real easy to see it as a 3.5, pictures can be hard to estimate with nothing to judge against.  Thin legs are the only give away to me.  Age it so we know!

when I see the antlers with hands on, I would say 2.5 due to the mass. Some of the cam pics make him look older. Get a pick of the teeth?

My guess would be both deer in question are a healthy 2.5 years old. Definitely shooters for me.

This is the fastest way to age a buck. Looks big enough and old enough to shoot then after you shot it if it's that important how old it is then look at the teeth

Did you score him? The DEC 2017 harvest report shows Lake Plains bucks (I'm assuming that's where he was killed) that are 2.5 years old average score around 100, while the average 3.5 year old scores close to Pope and Young...116. That buck looks like he would score a little over 100, just a real nice typical 8 pt.

I would guess 2 as well... still some transition definition between the neck and chest usually still present in 2 year old. Some serious potential in that buck!

So out of curiousity I just scored him using the BC website.  107 4/8 gross.  105 2/8 net.  How is that for falling between the 2.5 and 3.5 average.   Actually scored a few inches better than I estimated.

Generally I don’t want to shoot a buck unless I am mounting him.  I use Tacks standard with an exception last year.  So yep.
