i found that they're not wonderful, but it's more about how well you pack it. A good secure pack and the straps are fine, especially with a coat on. I never got the stabalizer straps, but have heard many recommend them.
Not sure if you're new to climbers, and even if you're not, it's good to practice with it a few times in the yard. good luck

With a coat it's cake. I think I just want some straps with less bunjee in em. They tend to stretch a bit which isn't horrible but I feel like there's better options for straps. I also need to tape up a little more the area where the teeth come together when packed together. Makes a bit too much noise packing and unpacking

Where are you packing in/out your climber? Can’t you just leave it at base of tree?

I like the stabilizer straps for attaching the top and bottom for the climb as well. Many years ago I had a cheap climber and during a hunt while adjusting the bottom portion,it fell to the ground leaving me a good 12 feet in the air.

Also the stabilizer strap help to secure the top and bottom together very tight with no movement or noise on the walk ,or at least on my timbertall they do.

Got some great video on 2 different cams last night about 50 miles apart. One was a wide 130 8 grunting right in front of the cam. The other was a high 130 9 chasing a doe across a sod field. Things are starting to happen here. It won’t be long until it’s daylight action. They were on my buddies cams, or else I’d post them. 

Any chance you can post a video of that deer grunting on cam....that's awesome

That sounds like a a good way to ruin an expensive climber. Also end up with a wet seat which I'm not sure which is worse. They're both pretty horrific scenarios

Nah I'd rather just pack it in since I like to hunt different spots and only have two permanent stands currently. Maybe next year I'll add a couple more idk

If I’m packing in a coat I put it between the sections and cinch everything together, it makes it super quiet and tight. I had a LW for five seasons and got tired of sitting uncomfortably with bloody knuckles. Also you can get two summits for the LW cost. I’ve got an Open Shot and a Viper

Not to mention the summit viper has been consistently number 1 in all of the reviews for years. LW is heavier, less comfortable, more expensive. Only thing it has going in its favor is it packs flat

Never forget that in 2011 I asked my wife (then girlfriend) for a Summit Viper SD for xmas. She did not get it for me and the rest is history.

Check out the Summit Switchbalde. Its a Viper that folds flat. Takes an extra 3.5 minutes to set up and take down. Have it. Love it. Comfy, quiet, easy to pack.

that area is almost always not fatal. she might not breed or birth this year but should make a full recovery.

May be a future purchase if I ever need a spare for someone else. Just got my viper and I couldn't be happier. Happily it came with the footrest which I must say is quite clutch. So comfortable! Can't wait to take some Excellent tree naps in it

same. iron field and stream and i ended up fireman pole sliding down. ripped up some skin on my belly. Never used that thing again. The summit does have a tether though so you wouldn't completely lose the bottom like I did. Also the foot hooks and the bungee cord that runs across make it real hard for you to drop the stand. I moved back home and dont use the climber as much, but agree that the straps are a very good investment.

Was this the LW climber or the hang on? I got a LW hang on and stick combo last season and it has all but replaced the tree walker climber I used for the previous few seasons (unless I'm going to be a oak flat where the trees are straight). I love the tree walker and it's more comfortable than the LW.... but the LW hang on gets me into trees I would never even dream about getting a climber into and that offer way more cover. Sometimes I felt like I spent more time hunting for a tree with my climber than actual hunting, but maybe that's a function of where I hunt. Next year I'm going to try the saddle for the long 1+ mile hikes.
