turkeyfeathers
Got redemption after poor showing on Lake Erie yesterday. Couple hours and caught 16 smallmouth, a sheephead and a fresh chrome. As soon as steelie hit I knew that’s no bass. Immediately started making the reel whine running and peeling line. Lots of jumps and air. The_Real_TCIII
I took the kids to a fantastic pond, they caught small LMBs and crappie nonstops. Perfect spot for them. And my niece had never fished before she arrived here from Thailand last summerSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
squirrelwhisperer
Today was a very interesting day on the water! First time ever I saw a pod of whales in less than 50 feet of water!! I believe they were right whales, but I’m no whale expert. Honestly, I was more concerned with moving my vessel than getting pics or video. They popped up about a boat length away. My friend got some I think. I can’t get through to him, tho. I think his wife is giving him a hard time because he left without her, lol. She wouldn’t wake up on time. We also saw: at least a dozen bottle nose dolphins, four military planes flying in formation that I cannot name and acres of bunker. A bit upset that I lost my cavitation plate zink and now I need to replace my prop, also. Glad I have a spare. As for the fishing, we caught a boat load of sea robins and some short fluke. The kids had a ball with them (little squirrel and buddy’s daughter). It’s amazing how much smack these kids can talk, lol. I can’t wait for the 23rd when sea bass opens!!! If we have the right conditions, I am thinking about a night trip to the inlet for stripers on the 21st. Night of the new moon, moon set and sunset almost the exact same time (fast current) which both coincide with the beginning of the ebb. I need wind out of the North quarter @ 7-10 knots and no rain but cloud cover. A slight falling barometer wouldn’t hurt either.

turkeyfeathers
Day #4 in a row. Caught my first channel cat ever. Took a Panther Martin. Subtle head shakes like a sheephead and thought that’s what it was. Never holding one I didn’t initially want to hold up thru gills and may possibly hurt it “ grab it like a bass “ The Real TC tells me. Ok . Chomping down with pressure like in a vise. Holy crap what pressure. I guess they crack freshwater clams I learned. Minutes later he outdoes mine with an even bigger one on a lightweight combo. That looked like fun. Guys always fishing for them on forked sticks but I’ve never seen one caught there , only heard. I totaled only 8 smallmouth today. Fun morning with friends on a perfect day.40 smallmouth- sheephead- steelhead and cat in 3 days on same spinner. Finally lost it. Time to order some more stat ! grampy
My BIL just bought a new Nitro bass boat. We will be heading up to the Great Sacandaga in the morning. He has a bass tournement coming up there. So we will break in the boat, and sling some different lures, hoping to put a pattern or two together. We have both done fairly well in tourney's up there over the years. See ya tomorrow, live from the water! Finally!

My buddy with Nitro swears by 3” Gulp minnows in Emerald shiner color with 1/8 oz jig head. Ever so slightly a jig. He crushes me every time in his boat. Enjoy your time out there. Look forward to pics

turkeyfeathers
Got Samanatha out on the Nitro today on Lake Erie. Got into a pod of freshwater drum. Sheephead crack aka crayfish for tight lines and bent rods. No wind for a good drift and could clearly see the bottom in 23’ made bass fishing hard. But had a lot of fun. Ended up connecting in 35’ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Smallies ought to be postspawn and feeding hard now. Calm day and walking the dog Zara should be fun.
