If he can live to 4 or 5 those beams are going to be thick and palmated. also very good brows for 2 yr old. 85 inches now. Beastly 150 incher two years from now. tk3445
I would like to leave him but this is a hunting club property. I have been hunting only 3 years and have never killed a whitetail up to this point. I am the only club member who hunts bow and there is about 8-10 of us who hunt it during gun season. I think if he gives me a chance he would make a nice first buck any opinions on that or should i leave him and just shoot a doe to fill the freezer and hope no one else takes him during gun. bubba
agreed 2 1/2 between 85 and 90. A nice first deer no doubt. Thay being said as a 2.5, Iwould let him walk just because he is the stock I would want. But he no doubt has a daddy and brothers somewhere. dave6x6
TK, I would never tell you what you should or should not shoot. Id love to see what this deer would grow into but i also can tell you this. If that buck steps in front of you and you rip one right through the boilermaker, you are going to have a smile on your face for yrs. to come. And i'd be the first to give you a big ata-boy.. adkhunter71
As long as there are no antler restrictions within the club, shoot him if you feel the urge and get the chance. If you get the chance and decide to pass, that's fine too. As dave6X6 said, it is a personal decision that you must make. If I were in your shoes having not taken your first whitetail yet, I would shoot it and be extremely happy. That first one is sometimes the hardest one to kill. Good luck. DEADDEER1
these are the bucks that need to be passed by everyone granted you might not get to shoot him but someone the yr after or the yr after that will have more then a memory but a trophy deer. NY hunters should shoot 3 yr olds or better if we all did that we would have a abundance of 120" + BUCKS. They guys I hunt with shoot 3yr olds or better and some times we dont fill are tags but thats what doe tags are for. hes 2 1/2 and 85 inches no wheres near a trophy yet. another yr he might be 115 which is a good deer let the small ones go youll feel just as good leting him walk versus killing him young. GOOD LUCK ANYHOW>>..>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>whack
tk3445
Yeah it does seem like the first one is the hardest, Been hunting for only about 3 years now still no kills in my county there has been no doe tags until this year and shot over a 6 with my bow last year. This year I havn't had any luck but looking to fill the freezer with a vengence. Any buck that I end up shooting will be put on the wall since he will be my first.
