Do Deer eat Black Walnuts?

I see ALOT of black walnuts in and around Orange County but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a deer eating black walnuts . Did a search on Google and came up with conflicting answers so I thought I’d post it here .
So, Do you know if Deer will eat Black Walnuts ?

I think ive read they cant crack them, but squirrels can? Maybe they just dont want their hooves green for all eternity

Funny story I cursed those trees during my childhood days of picking those things up with a single glove on and a bucket . My father had some of those trees trimmed and sold to the Amish . They gave him $1800 for just a couple nice size limbs . He then gave me the money . So I made a $128 a year for picking up walnuts for 14 years .

Never saw a deer even look down at a black walnut. Used to have a few BW trees, right in back of the house along the woodline.

Yes, that’s what another guy said, that if they’re pre-cracked , maybe they’ll eat them; otherwise , they won’t put the effort in themselves .

Never seen one touch a walnut and I have 10 in my yard...

I've sat in a few woods that are loaded with black walnuts. I've never seen a deer touch one either..

They will, if they have too. not preferred.

An animal will eat anything that smells good to them.

One of my clients has 15 mature BW trees.  The dam thing sound like rocks when I mow his lawn. Lucky most of his trees are in the way back of the property. Some of those things fly 50'.  That said, lots of broken hulls, but have never seen a deer touch them.
