First-light
That's real tough. How the heck do you shoot into a disturbance and not know what is there.
erussell
In another article I read he was a sherriff and was not going to be charged with anything, trying to find it now.

Skillet
Almost sounds hard to believe that it was an accident, doesn't it?
Geno C
WTF? who shoots at another human being anyways? He should be charged, you dont just fire a weapon at a disturbance where people are plain and simple... this never should have happened.
WNYBuckHunter
You don't fire your gun at an unknown target period. Not a noise, not a color, not movement. This guy needs to be charged with anything and everything the law allows.
Doc
"He said he fired shots into woods on his property southeast of Indianapolis shortly after noon after hearing a disturbance he thought was a coyote attack." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What the heck does a coyote attack sound like? And exactly what did he expect to accomplish by firing shots into the woods? One thing is clear, even though the odds would seem to be a jillion to one, random shots into a woods do apparently find a human once in a while. For those that think it's impossible, this is just a reminder that "stuff" happens when proper respect for rules of safety are ignored ...... even when the odds seem totally impossible. ants
Sad. Its crazy.. no matter how safe you are there are still morons like this running around and they might be in the same woods you hunt. I cant see how they dont charge this idiot.
NYDeer
Crazy story. How the hell do you say you fired at sounds of a possible coyote attack, without seeing anything?? Totally reckless beyond belief, and criminal charges should be filed IMHO..
erussell
Just goes to prove the one with your name on it isn't the one you have to worry about. It's the one with to whom it may concern on it. Anyone see the story about the kid standing out side watching the fire works on new years eve and got pegged in the top of the head with a round they think was fired up in the air in celebration. That one had to whom it may concern written all over it. What are the odds of being hit ontop of thehead by a bullet fired miles away straight up? ny hunter
They say that happens every year at NewYears,Someone is always getting it like that on the head
WNYBuckHunter
Yep, happened every year when I lived in FL. Midnight on new years eve sounds like ww3 for a minute or so down there.
