When do Antlers drop

Just wondering what time frame do the antlers start to fall off. With such a lite snow fall so far. Thinking I might want to start shed hunting?

I had some on cam missing there antlers weeks ago. They will start in Dec. right on through till spring. Good luck.

some bucks have already started to shed there antlers some start as early as december and others will hold their head gear between now and march. im gonna look for some this week when i go out small game hunting. good luck

I'll betcha there may be an antler or two laying around out there right now....but I've been wrong before!

They should start soon if they haven't already.I usaully start looking around

I've got 15 hours invested so far and have yet to bring one home. I think that most of the sheds still have deer attached to them!!!

Hard to stay out of their bedding areas, but know it's way to early. Know. their still packing their gear, because new rubs were still showng up, as of last week. Usually don't go in till March. Maybe that's my mistake. The rodents might chow down.

Yeah, you definately don't want to invade the bedding areas until you know for certain that the antlers have dropped. I've mostly just been checking fresh deer sign in cropfields, along hedgerows and litte brushy areas along the fields. Sooner or later I'll stumble on to one!!!

The latest I have ever seen horns on a buck was Feb. 7th. It was a little 6 point in a corn field.

My friend sent me some trailcam pics from the last week down here on LI and alot of bucks were still carrying both sides. i think down here right now its about 50/50.

This weekend Im going to start walking the fields and edges, maybe some of the woods trails. Im still going to give it another couple of weeks before walking bedding areas though.

WNY, I see, you found your first one, congrats. Report from the Field- Been over soybeans, corn, wheat, hay fields. Alot of activity in wheat and hay due to the greener than normal grasses. Alot of pawing in the light snowfall. Looking in woods , active field trails. Taking advantage of light snow falls, and sunny days with no luck. Enjoy the milder temps and enjoying the new deer signs still showing up. Alot of mud. Their are bucks out here with head gear yet.

Looks deeper than it was. Maybe 4-5". Western NY last weekend before the thaw. Long gone now.
