OK so I shot my only catskill 4 pt buck with my 308 H & K model 91 semi auto w/5 round clip. I did forget to put on the face paint and that was the last time I used this gun for deer hunting. I did not have the army camo I had real tree. I did hunt with this gun for several years due to loving the over under sight. While I do not fit the profile exaclty, I am sure you would have put me in this catagory due to the weapon... I guese I should sell the gun because it's no longer for hunting, sell all my camo, don't ever hunt with a bow in camo because I might be considered a military guy(They use ghillie suits too...) Then I will have to go out and purchase a red or green colored wool hunting jacket to fit you ideal of a hunter. So much for encouraging returning vets from hunting. Personaly I could care less what any person is wearing or using as a weapon.(As long as it's legal.) I personaly do not judge a book by its cover, especially when hunting! I judge a person by his or her actions. I do not care if a person is white black green or purple, I base how I judge them by how they act, treat others, themselves, and how they respect nature and the animals they hunt. Judging a person by the fact that they use a "black weapon" and use some tactical tools is just stupid. Guese we should tell all the vets NO hunting unless you conform to what we think you should wear. Now due to this post, I must stop hunting w/bow in full camo, sell all my "black" weapons and camo and go buy a wool red hunting jacket, and I have to judge everyone before I get to know them based on what they wore that day... OMG I hope I do not get that closed minded when I hit your age...

OK, if that's not the way you meant it to be interpreted, so be it. But, do you see how the title of the thread would lead someone to believe that you have already formed your opinion? Plus, the 'Armed With Pride, NRA logo' and the 'Hunt or be Hunted' screen name seem to imply that you might lean in this general direction.

I never said that everything new is good. Compounds were new once, along with in - line muzzleloaders, and smokeless powder. If someone is acting appropriately in the woods, who are we to condemn them based simply on what they wear or the gun they shoot? News flash - most of us hunters sneak around in the woods wearing camo & carrying guns, and I bet more than a few of us carry at least one piece of gear we don't need {me included}. To any outsider who wanted to see us negatively, or someone who is uninformed, we could all be perceived as creeps playing army. For you to actually teach your grandkids to judge everyone / everything, is sick. It's a perfect example of how hypocritical liberals are.

I have a question for you EARLY........... If, during the deer season this Fall, you encounter a BLACK person dressed in full camo...complete with face paint...and carrying an AR or some form of AK "black" weapon (notice, I said "weapon"), along with a "tactical knife" and an assortment of "tactical gear" hanging from his tactical belt.....Is he hunting??....Or, playing solja?? My guess is "Solja"; when you see him...run like hell in the opposite direction. These "tactical boys" may turn the safe sport of hunting into a game of GI Joe, and you will not be safe anywhere near them! Would this make you a racist because the guy is black now?

I can see this running into a bo thread. I went on a motorcycle poker run yesterday well over 200 bikes. There was a guy in a pair of shorts and sandals riding a very nice harley. There were kids in shorts in crotch rockets wearing just shorts passing everyone jumping in and out of formation. There were also guys wearing colors in leather head to toe and looked like they were not friends with a shower. I guess I am saying it takes all kinds. Just because a guy is in camo head to toe and carrying a firearm we do not choose to use, does not make him a bad hunter. We should examine ourselves a little before we make these posts. Or we should stop trying to bait people to see if we can get the longest bash thread record.

Strange thread ..... I guess I am not one to jump to any conclusions based on what a hunter is carrying. There's a lot of guys packing equipment that I myself may not prefer to use for any of a number of reasons. So what? Now if they were running through the woods dressed in a loin-cloth and armed only with a knife clenched between their teeth, I might get a bit concerned ..... lol. We certainly do struggle sometimes just to find reasons to bash hunters don't we?

I hold the bow on target as i draw the bow back and find my ancor. As the pins start to float naturally on the spot i begin the trigger sequence by pulling back and squeezing til the trigger breaks. This is how i try to practice but hunting is slightly different in one way. The proceedure is the same but with a more purposely controlled trigger as apossed to a surprise release.

Or maybe the kid should have been taught about guns early and reminded often, so as to curb the curiosity of them. Like anything else, early education is key with guns. Having a handgun for protection isnt going to work too well if its locked up at all times. Antis havent been waiting for this to happen, it happens across the country every year due to irresponsible people.
