Unfortunately, NYS is a lost cause. Taxes in this state are insane. It’s a beautiful place with abundant natural resources. The politicians (Republicans and Democrats) are all the same, they sold out to public sector unions. Union employees work 15 or 20 years and collect pensions that their neighbors have to pay. I don’t blame the union workers, I would take the $ if I could. But it’s not right that a cop, firefighter, garbage collector retires at 40 years old and collects $75,000+ for the rest if his / her life. Someone needs to pay the bill! NYS has passed numerous nanny state laws. Most recently the gun control law. This law will never be over turned by assembly or state senate. Maybe a court will throw it out, but not an elected official. As for a place to move, any right to work state will do. These states have low taxes and are mostly located in the south. Vote with your feet, leave if you can!1 point

As soon as my daughter is out of high school, were gone. Colorado or Texas bound. Why? We both have family in both of those states, and either one is better than this welfare hole.1 point

Well, it worked again tonight. Alarm woke me up at about 12:10am, just a few minutes ago. Confirmed it was a coyote with the binocs, shot her with 22-250 at around 170 yards, no light. That's 2 using this method in about 2 weeks. Another adult female, haven't weighed her yet, but she's in the 35-40 range I think. This one was calmly eating. I suspect because of the blacked out LED she suspected nothing. I did have to shoot her twice, hit a little low on the first shot. Now then...back to Animal Planet. :-) Zhe Wiz1 point

Lol!! I'd love to just get off the island, period .. I just can't understand why it's so expensive on the island and all it does is goes up and up without control. I would rather have alot of land of I'm paying these taxes, 0.5 acre ain't cutting it.1 point

I would have a real difficult time answering that question and don't think I haven't thought about it. I keep typing then backspacing as my mind is a fuzzy trying to come up with a witty answer to the question but just can't do it. Wellsboro PA wouldn't be the worst choice. I sure enjoy my visits there but the one buck/hunting season knocks it out of contention. (seriously)1 point

I wouldn't go anywhere they aren't gonna get off that easy. I LOVE THIS STATE!!!! All of the problems with this state have been created in Albany as a result of ideas that mostly come from NYC. The best idea I ever heard was make NYC its own state and let us have our state back!!! Really, think about we have beautiful landscape, amazing wildlife, excellent waterways. you get used to the snow, it doesn't get to hot in the summer, we don't really get wiped out by hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes. If it weren't for all the idiotic political decisions that have created the unfriendly business environment, high taxes, extreme laws and the list goes on this would probably be the greatest state in America. I'll give you that it is nice to go other places for vacation but I always want to come back to NY.1 point

Any place, hut, camp, shed, tarp, lean to,tent or hole in the ground is better than sitting at home.Getting away from the rif raf drudge of every day life to your little hide away is what makes it all worth living.1 point

A wife comes home late at night, and quietly opens the door to her bedroom. From under the blanket she sees four legs instead of two. She reaches for a baseball bat and starts hitting the blanket as hard as she can. Leaving the covered bodies groaning, she goes to the kitchen to have a drink. As she enters, she sees her husband there, reading a magazine. "Hi Darling", he says. "Your parents have come to visit us, so l let them stay in our bedroom. Did you say 'hello'?"1 point

Pulled the cam from behind the house. I was skeptical on the soak because I inadvertently bought zinc chloride batteries instead of alkalines. But, the thing was chugging away with pics when I got there. I can say three things for sure after the soak: Pros: Great daytime pic quality for its MP and price. The sensor flat out rocks. I mean, it's possibly the best sensor I have ever seen, honestly. Cons: Nighttime pics stink unless you are within 20 feet. It's not a cam that's going to give enough detail beyond that due to the MP night shots and the poor illumination reach. Initially, I though the poor battery choice should be considered, but the pics mimic what others have on other forums. I think this cam is a good buy for a close-range deer trail if you are looking for cheap black flash (more like very low glow). Good for feeders up close, too, should it be legal in your area. Will be very good for turkey - this cam flat out doesn't miss a trigger and will pic up 60-70 feet.1 point

You can put in a food plot with very little equipment but I plant Nutritional plots and I have acquired bigger equipment to help me. One thing I learned is take it slow and learn about soil, fertilizer and seeds. Like hunting, keep in fun!1 point

With only one exception, all these guys left a permanent record of their vote on this law. Yes it was primarily a Democrat led and supported bill but there were some Republican votes. And like I said above, it is not a Democrat vs Republican issue. It is an issue of punishing the supporters of this law and rewarding the opposition, regardless of what party they belong to .... plain and simple. Make it clear that they are representing us or they are gone. Get party affiliation out of your voting process and make your decisions based on voting record. So what if you become a "one-issue" voter. That's not a criminal act. But it is a very effective way of getting these people back in line. Make them pay for their voting record!1 point

Would like to see that antler gonehntn! Not retired yet, lol. Just pack my work load into a few days a week and everything else is my time to dedicate to this stuff. I probably spend more time at it than I should..it's more of an addiction at this point that I don't expect everyone to understand how I MAKE time for it! I've been single the last 5 years or so and probably another 5 years coming up, so that helps, lol I'm not a big fan of hiking for antlers in the snow either, but I still do it. Something special about pulling a shed outta the snow. I just can't get enough of being outdoors every chance I get whether it's hiking, shed hunting, photography or camping out. We should melt out again soon allowing me to get back to some serious hikes again. Good luck to ya next time out!1 point

A cop friend of mine was in Gander Mnt. last week. He saw three "inner city" lads (all with their hoods up) hanging around the pistol ammo shelf. They were just hovering there. My friend recognized one of them, because he has had quite a bit of contact with him while on the job, so he went over and started talking about the super bowl with him. The three must have been late for work or something because they didn't feel much like talking and left the store.1 point

Here is my hunting camp that my Brother-in-law from Canada and I used to use. I had a set of bunkbeds, a couple of easy-chairs, a table with chairs, propane lantern, propane stove, kerosene heater, carpeting and a sink (had to bring in water with ATV). Oh yeah, and a portable TV and radio powered with a car battery (the only electricity) It was a lot of fun until NYS priced him out of hunting down here anymore. Now it is starting to get a bit run-down from lack of use, but still affords some shelter on top of the hill when the weather gets bad. It's almost a mile away from the house and accessible only by walking or ATV. Well, now my hunting camp is back at the house ....lol.1 point

I feel your message, I think your message, but it isn't going to help the image of gun owners. Think about a parent in a store with their children reading your message. We need the support of the public, when it comes time to vote.1 point
