.First of all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our fathers died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. 8But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 10But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.a 11Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.b That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness. 14So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 15Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.2 points

Something like this is all too common on hunting forums: "I seen three doe today......!" What the guy really meant was that he saw three does. Two rules to remember: "Never let them see you sweat!"...and, "Never give them a reason to think you're stupid!" Don't let your language trip you up.1 point

Wow...I can't believe the quick responses. Where else could I get such honest feedback. My wife thinks I'm nuts of course! She also thinks you are all nuts too for even responding to my idiocy! Lol. She just doesn't understand!1 point

I say don't take the chance of freaking the kid out. Let them do the "service and burial". Go out and shoot a rabbit, there are tons of rabbits in Ny. If you don't/can't hunt them, its easy enough to find someone who dose.1 point

Actually, just yesterday I "built" a shooting bench in the corner of my garage, just below the window. I leave the window cracked about 2", rest the bipod on the "bench" and shoot out the window. Don't even have to poke the muzzle out. :-) I am so spoiled, I love this place! Before yesterday I had been opening the walk out door of the garage and laying down to shoot, but these last few coyotes have been too smart, bolting as soon as I open the door, even though it's 175 yards away. This one had no idea what was coming until it was too late.1 point

Id be all for both of those, but it still doesnt take away the fact that crossbows are just bows. Same killing method, same effective range. No matter how much they look like guns due to the stock, they are effectively no more similar.1 point

Sydney is out of the coma, and doing well, she is talking to and teasing family, friends & visitors !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is truly a miracle, and I want to thank all of the people who prayed for her, and will continue to do so. She is on the road to recovery, but it will be months of therapy and rehab. Once again, THANK YOU ALL for your thoughts and prayers !1 point

Deerthug, Which is then followed by the Second Amendment. You know I sat down with my coffee this morning and read this thread, and was a bit shocked, to tell you the truth at the responses. Maybe I'm reading the responses wrong, but it looks like lots of non believers here. That's certainly OK I guess (First Amendment), but answer me this: How can so many grumble and groan about their "right" to "keep and bear arms" (Second Amendment), when that very right (and others) is given, and guaranteed to them by, documents written by our founding fathers who placed great emphasis on the belief in a GOD, and Christian principles? Are we to pick and choose which rights we like and which ones we don't, or which ones we think are valid and which ones are not, depending on what our own particular need is?1 point

Yeahhhh, except that in NY it that we (gunowners/hunters) are our own worst enemy. If I could kick someone in the nuts every time they've told me "I'm just a hunter, it doesn't affect me" or "Nobody needs those things for hunting anyway so i think it's good" I'd have worn out a pair of boots just since the ban passed.1 point

First of all , it's not legal to do . Second , you are letting a crook know your location . Third , once you fire the 2 shots , you're out of ammo . fourth , you're a dumb ass Joe !!!1 point

Most of the formal announcements I have read said they would not sell police of Govt anything that the normal citizen couldn't buy under the new law. If they want to buy something like a Kahr CW 9 mm that holds 7 in the mag, they will sell it but not a pistol that we can't buy. It is basically a token gesture unles we get major manufacturers to follow suit. When the smoke clears I, for one, will be more likely to purchase from a maker that stood with us than one that remained silent or said they wouldn't stand with us.1 point

I used to lose one or two stands every few years. I now leave my climbing stand in all season. Pull them after the season closes. I don't leave them on the tree. I chain/lock them near the tree I want to hunt along side an easy to find landmark (blow down / boulder). I then bury them in brush and leaves. I haven’t lost one since.1 point

I agree 100%. And, since 85% of deer hunting is done in the southern zone, that only leaves 15% that is done in the northern zone. Common sense dictates, that more money is spent on hunting goods in the southern zone.1 point

Shot this buck tonight, he is my best to date. Hes not the biggest Ive seen this season, but I am more than tickled with him. Cantrell taxidermy will be mounting him for me. Heres the story... Yesterday, I hunted a farm that I hadnt set foot on this season. My buddy suggested that I go sit in a stand that he had set this year, so thats where I went. On my way in, I kicked up a nice buck, but didnt get a good look at him. I set up in the stand and got down at 4:15, as I had to be home by 5:30. As I was walking out, down a tractor road up on a hill overlooking a cow pasture, I saw 15 doe come out from a thick swatch of brush and head out into the back part of the pasture. I had no time to mess with them, but ranged the spot where they were at 186 yards. Fast forward to this afternoon. My buddy and I set up a new ground blind on another part of the farm, and the idea was I was going to sit it this afternoon. When we returned to the farm a bit later, I noticed a guy in his ladder stand about 140 yards across the field. Damn, couldnt sit there, so I headed toward the stand I sat in yesterday. When we got to the spot where I saw the does, I showed him what I had seen and we discussed what the plan for today was. He was going to another ground blind, just down the hill from where we were and I decided I would stay there and see if I couldnt get lucky and catch the does heading into the back pasture again. I wasnt sure if it would work, as I was pretty exposed, but I thought maybe the distance was going to help me out. I was texting with my buddy asking if we had seen anything, and we both said no. As I put my phone away I spotted a doe coming into the pasture. I got low and moved up to the fence post that I could use as a rest. The doe moved into a swail in the pasture and I was waiting for her to emerge when I saw a rack come out from the brush to the left, right where I had ranged the does at 186. I switched my attention to him and as he put his head down to feed, I held just over his back right above the shoulders and slowly squeezed the trigger. POP! Are you kidding me! Misfire! The powder had gotten damp from loading up the previous day, then having 20 degree temps this morning and 50s in the afternoon. The buck looked over at the noise, then put his head back down. I got low and went back to my backpack, yanked the breech plug and pushed the load out. I threw everything out of my pack to get what i needed and reloaded, got back up to the post and slowly stood up. The buck was gone. My buddy called and asked what that pop was, so I told him, and as we were talking, the buck headed up out of the swail, i threw my phone, pulled up and grunted at him. I set my crosshairs in the same spot as he stood there slightly quartering to and let him have it. Boom! Through the smoke I saw the hit take him off of his feet. He got back up and headed into the brush. I picked my phone up and told him what happened, and he headed up to me. We went out and found blood, but thought we would give him time. I decided to range the shot, 180 yards on the dot from the post I rested on to my buddy standing where the deer was. We gave it an hour and followed a 50 yard blood trail to the other side of the brush right to my buck! Hes a solid 2 1/2 year old, with a very symmetrical rack. I couldnt be happier! What a vacation so far, a great doe yesterday morning and this guy tonight! Gonna take Thanksgiving off and get back after it Friday.1 point

It was an awesome opening morning sit, although very short. As soon as I climbed into my stand I had deer in the 50 acre field I was overlooking. I had hardwoods behind me with a standing cornfield on the other side. The leaves in the woods were perfect to alert me of any movement with a nice frost from cold weather. After watching deer move around field right at first light I heard the "crunching" of leaves and this fella came out of the woods 50 yds to my right. Gave me a great opportunity to make a clean shot and I was able to make the most of it. He is not a giant but my second buck ever taken and first since 2007, rough score of 115. My biggest to date.1 point

I took my 16 year old nephew to Letchworth Park today. He got his first deer about 10 minutes after legal shooting time started with his grandfather's very old J.C. Higgins smooth bore 12 gauge pump.He missed the first shot but hit him on the second, the deer went about 200 yards with no blood trail.I am so happy we found him! Picture is from a phone. It was a 6 point buck.1 point

I shot this buck in 2003 during the IL archery season. The mount was ready and finished in Feb of 2004 but he stuck aroung the taxi studio on display till two weeks ago. I really didn't have the right place to hang my best buck ever, 167" P&Y typical. That is until I decided to hang him up at my girl's house. He now has a new home and I can see more of him!! Hope you guys enjoy seeing him as much as I do.1 point
