9 pt shot in Westchester came in about 4pm following a doe stopped to eat acorns from an oak tree then followed a trail directly under my stand. Presented me with a 15 yd shot quartering towards me.11 points

biz, if you travel like you hunt, you'll need 3 guides just to get to buffalo 1 to lead the way 1 to pat you on the back and tell you it's ok 1 to carry all your tissues by the way, I hope you get a speeding ticket, and they take your drivers license for EVER...hahaha7 points

Why can't we just come up with a huge meet & greet annual event. It would be similar to hunger games. Some forum members would perish, but some would leave with a great story.5 points

I think I need to create a new forum / site... DramaOfHuntingNY.com or maybe I can get bravo on board for a series... The Housewifes of Hunting NY dot com5 points

Biz, just learn the secret upstate handshake and you will be fine. Happy to teach it to you. Also works if you run into any bikers from the Sons of Anarchy. Same handshake. Do people seriously threaten others on a forum? Talk about ridiculous. BTW - my dad can beat up anyone's dad on this forum.4 points

This was sent to me today... "Hello, My Name is Tom Schultz Jr. I was excited to be with 15yr old Colton Brewslawki and Mentor him 10/12/2013 on his first youth deer hunt as he took a incredible 9 point buck that scored 131 1/8 “ on my In-laws Farm in Wayne County, NY i...n the town of Walworth. Could not think of a better young man to harvest such a great buck. I was honored that his Mom, Jen and Dad, Mark allowed me to give Colt this Experience of a lifetime everyone was high fives and smiles that day and I’m looking forward to the day I can share the same experience with my two sons." More youth hunt deer here... http://www.nyantler-outdoors.com/2013-youth-hunt.html4 points

But grow,,,,when they have little feet they reallllllllly hope for little hands too so the situation does not APPEAR so bad2 points

I would actually see this in the same context of "I woulldn't keep posting pictures with bait in them will get you in trouble beyond getting your chops busted on a furum" I didn't read a threat. Actually sounded like advice.2 points

He implied no threat by what he said. If thats what you read into it, go back and re-read his post without your "Im Shawn's buddy" glasses on.2 points

Since the topic is relevant, I was PM'd regarding my language in some posts. I'm new to the site and did not intend to offend anyone if I did. My "language" was not directed towards anyone, just choice adjectives I could have cleaned up. I apologized to the moderator who contacted me and would like to extend the apology to everyone/anyone who may or may not have been offended. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free2 points

Good point, try not to nuke threads here, so re-titled the post to "Question about the forum rules"2 points

Sorry if this is a bit off topic but I have to mention - I did bratwurst & Italian this year and cooked some up at camp. First year I ever made my own. Friggin turned out great2 points

Well theere you have it. That is why you stick out up here. Gotta have a gun rack. Even if it is only fishing season it is a perfect place the carry the rods. Plus the soft sided cases are usually too small for us to display the high capacity mags....2 points

Yea your right. They can't afford the tolls. But what about when I visit my brother at school in Buffalo? What if someone recognizes me on route 90? I think I'm going to start carrying nunchuks just incase. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 22 points

What would constitute slander on a forum such as this?? Most of us don't know each other, so whatever someone would say about someone else, or make assumptions about them, honestly isn't worth a hill of beans. People need to take things with a grain of salt on forums like this, and if anything just laugh off what people might say or think about us. Really isn't difficult to do. I for one log on to this site for the entertainment, and don't lose a wink a sleep over anything someone might say or think about me.2 points

This just baffles me a bit, you attacked the majority of members about how you have a dislike for someone using technology like a trail cam as a thread topic, No one came out and attacked your traditional values until you attacked everyone else. If you cant handle the response why post the thread to begin with? There is absolutely nothing wrong with traditions and personal values in any aspect of life. However if you choose to attack others expect to be replied to or just choose not to take a stance against what others enjoy. I see no one starting a thread bashing a guy for not using trail cams or modern archery or did I miss those post?2 points

NO.. its not and if it continues just like the cursing as well which HAS BEEN covered here many times then those members will get suspended for a few weeks to cool down... so lets end it2 points

Biology shows that deer daytime movements as a trend increase throughout the given hunting season (our context of Oct 1 through the rut period). Their Core expands, too. People who believe in the myth can't seem to remember changing food sources and hunting pressure impacts deer. They're still hunting the stands they hunted first and applied pressure and then don't see deer and attribute it to some imaginary reduction in daytime activity.2 points

Here is my first buck with the bow!! He came in around 5:30 with another smaller buck down a heavily traveled path towards my stand. The smaller buck split off from the larger buck and started heading towards my 9:00 which is directly downwind of me. The larger buck kept heading down the trail, stopped at a scrape with a licking branch, took a piss down his back legs and then started heading towards my 12:00. As this was happening I notice the smaller buck now directly downwind of me is putting his nose in the air and staring in my direction. The larger buck begins to turn and present me with a quartering shot and what is going through my head is "I better take this shot now before the little buck figures me out and blows"!!! So I drew back and launched an arrow..... He jumped and ran ten yards... then took 7 or 8 slow steps and then went out of view disappearing under the canopy of branches. Now I am texting my buddies how I screwed up and missed a nice buck and I'm not worthy of sitting in this stand, etc. So 30 minutes go by and I decide that I at least want to go find my arrow and broad-head. So now I'm on the ground looking around and I notice blood on the ground!!!!! As I am having this epiphany I notice the buck laying under a tree about 25 yards away looking at me!! So I grab my bow and the only shot I had was through his neck so I took it and ended it for him. Turns out my first shot went through his one lung and then passed through his gut on the opposite side. I know I should have just left the woods when I saw him down and waited it out but I couldn't contain my excitement so I took the follow up shot. Can't wait till November 16th.2 points

I was reading a book when at 5pm I thought I heard a grunt...there had been nothing but squirrels and that stinking wood chuck....ha the gun comes out tomorrow,,,,...I glassed the woods and there was a large doe and fawn...all spooked up...they exited stage lft...when I saw legs moving 140 yrds out...in files some fawn but absolutely huge doe with some yearling doe....Great they will be headed this way ...the fawn already were headed for the big oak behind the blind....when on the scene charges a rowdy 6pt...and he manages to chase all the older doe out of the area...then proceeds to feed...well this doe wasn't look too big to me until she had another doe and fawn walk by...the 6pt was headed our way and she kept a weary on on him...at 20 yrds she finally turned broad side and I let the arrow fly...it hit her and she nearly tipped over and then reared up and flipped over on to the arrow...it had hit her opposite shoulder...she never left that spot until I picked her up with the tractor.... But alas she then promptly sought her revenge...besides breaking the arrow....when returning with the tractor there were to good sized fawn standing over her ....geezzz....thankfully she had no milk so they will be fine and have each other....I glanced back as I drove away with her in the bucket...the two just stood on the edge of some sorghum watching us leave ...Oh well it won't taint the taste!2 points

I let several like that walk every year. This is my personal choice only. I have no problem with this buck walking into someone else's set-up and being harvested. All hunters have their own goals, and I sure don't begrudge a fellow hunter a chance to fulfil his or her goals.2 points

A 3 " vane will be about the same grains as the Blazers. 4" could go up in weight around 10 gr or more. I would use the Blazers if it were me. I think they are more durable IMO1 point

Headed back to camp Friday for a few days. It'll give me a chance to try and sneak around the property - as long as a little rain muffles the potato chips.1 point

I saw the same story. They are all crooks on the take. We really need term limits but how do you get the ones that it would limit to propose and pass it?1 point

Just remember, the mods don't always address issues for all to see. It's probably done via pm more than we think.1 point

so now that the shutdown has ended and we are good for 3 months and the house now will meet with the senate on working out the difference of each budget. I sure hope we get some members who will try to do what is right for the country and not just for there own party. It sure reminds me of the kids in a sand box, I get my way and or I will screw up everybody. I hope people will look very hard on who they send to the senate or house and do they do the work for you and our country. I think a lot of them do not, most of them are very well off and sure seem to only want to get more $$$. I suggest all say a prayer for our country god bless the United States.1 point

Another member asked the same question you did. its basically up to the mods or adm to decide what to do in the end ..pending on the situation.. most will refer you to the sites rules and regs. You might be better off sending a pm to the site administrator if a problem persist1 point

Be careful. Talk like that will cause some members here to accuse you of whitchcraft and call for your burning at the stake.1 point

That's the problem is personal observation on all fronts, mine included. We're biased to what we experience. Two hunters 100 yds apart...one with chasing like crazy and the other with nothing. Funny how the unlucky hunter thinks the rut isn't going strong whereas the other thinks it's peak chasing.1 point

I try to call them in whenever I find one but they keep hanging up on me.. I'll probably just turn myself in this year. Probably deserve to be punished for all the roadkill and shed antlers I've rescued... I mean stolen from the environment.1 point

I am amazed you post these WNYBowhunter. Makes me want to show off too, but that's a no go with people on this site and knowing where I hunt. Nice deer.1 point

shooting deer is like chaseing woman, you probably wouldn't ask your buddy which one you should go after shoot what you like, like what you shoot the problem is, we all think we know what we're talking, when it comes to ageing deer the reality is, most are not that good at it, but let ego get in the way i spent some time around a cornell biologest, while he was ageing deer by jawbone, evan with a chart in front of them, 100% of the hunters were wrong one doe 80# was marked as a yearling, it was actually 8 1/2 years old and anyone who says they wouldn't shoot a 150" buck because it's only 2 1/2 is full of sh**1 point

My friend since kindergarten ,that's like 49 years comes back for a wedding and bow hunt. He's a traditional archer and a friend of the St. Charles family. He owns Glen St.Charles work bench and hand tools that he used to make bows. For those who don't know who Glen was, he founded the Pope and Young club amoung other noteworthy things. The first P&Y museum was at Glens archery shop,North West Archery, I had the pleasure of visiting it years ago. http://www.gfredasbell.com/gfa_glenn_st_charles.php I have hunted, canoed, backpacked across The U.S and Canada with him from the ADK to the Yukon. This time the adventure is a bow hunt in Canandaigua ! Last time he came back he got an 8pt, but now I'm under the farms AR rules. So this 4 day hunt will be a challenge for a buck. Just hope it stays dry .....1 point

So let me start this off for you....lots of poo whooing about sightings and a cat was found to have wondered in and was hit....no panthers or leopards in the US but they recently either captured or killed one in Arizona...can't recall where I read the NEWS article on it...but it was found to have migrated up from Mexico...recently To this I say ...even though it may not necessarily be life changing noticeable to us ...there is a climate change happening and guess what? the animals are the first to notice....they do this by migrating...such as with the # of sharks found off the NE shores and Gators being found in more northern areas Still south but farther north than usual ...Elk found in more mid west-eastern/ states ....This will continue to happen...I remember 35 yrs ago when our Samoyed chased a large animal into a deep Letchworth woods... Mr B. wouldn't let me go in after him...when he came back out he was covered in "sheet" that smelled just like pig "sheet"...blk bear...well back then Bkl bear WERE NOT in Letchworth. and they would never migrate this far..sorry they were...and now look at their range ...we had to try and wash him in the stream the stink was so bad even in the bronco with the top off we couldn't stand the smell This is like many other..... "this would never happen" scenarios with wild life...things change...... animals adapt and Lord knows they surely do so faster than humans...lol1 point
