Hard work and perseverance paid off. 4 snows down finally. Miserable cold windy wet weather. Perfect goose hunting day though. Hoping snows stick around for next weekend and hoping to hunt again. Good luck to all out there.5 points

Made three sets last nite 2min into first set call in one and missed a chip shot 2nd set called in a bobcat and a yote cats arnt in season here and I would have been shooting towards the road at the yote. Third setup should have had a partner cause 2 came in behind me at about 10 yards. Even Though I didn't connect it was still a good nite Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

Oh Lord no.... I don't have the cash to throw around on critter skins an skulls. Borax (boric acid) is the poor mans duct tape when it comes to stuff like this for me. Sure it's a little stiff when it dries, but it holds it's shape nicely that way an is still completely functional when you plan out the pivot points. I've got a few deer hides in the works as we speak that will be turned into hand muffs and arrow quivers the same way. I'm no taxidermist, but what I come up with usually is preserved well enough and hangs around for a few years without gettin' tossed this way. One day I'll learn how to do things right.... but for now I won't charge anyone for my useless advice,lol...3 points

No cranker here, but you can imagine how sweet a gals first deer/buck was at the end of the day. I've never had such a happy hunt in my entire life! It wasn't the most perfect shot. She caught him a lil far back so we trailed him over 300yds. My head was glued to the blood trail which was running out by the step. Sis looked over and spotted him trying to get to his feet. A littlttle confusion amongst us at that point, but she finally settled the crosshairs to DUMP him for good! This was my most memorable hunt EVER! F= big bucks!3 points

Killed this one in NY one morning in 2014 prior to the deer opener. Called it in using an old Herter's Dying Rabbit mouth call. A real loud squealer of a call. After deer seasons are done, I find I can only get them to come in at night. I like to hunt them after dark when there is snow and a full moon. It's still important to watch the wind. Took two this year, but took them while deer hunting.3 points

These are just the ones I can scrounge up in my house. Good thing I can hide the rest in the woods from my wife.2 points

I killed a nice 8 point in Hinsdale that first year with the .308 on my TC Encore. At 11 yards lol. Thank goodness I had that rifle!2 points

I remember it like it was yesterday....the guy who I belonged to the Tonawanda Sportsman club with and I walked in there and asked to speak with a salesman....this guy ends up telling us he'll give us 250 towards a new gun, we tell him it retails for over 900??? He says first off this didn't come from us...and rifle isn't legal around here so they dont sell many. We flipped the box on its side and showed him the Harlem Gun Center sticker, and said you guys supplied all the guns for the raffle...how about a little more money since it was originally from here. He declined and said they wouldnt be able to sell it so 250 was the best offer, we walked out with the gun and never looked back. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk2 points

Another choice of weapon to use hunting deer sounds great.. In a quick google trip, it seems that they are limited in their range, due to trajectory and adequate power to penetrate. Within their limited range(probably around archery ranges) why not? Sounds fun, if a person has the funds to buy one..Probably not a lot different than shooting a deer with many standard pistol cartridges. From my observations in the field the actual effectiveness of the weapon has very little to do with the number of wounded animal running around ,slowly dying , or already dead somewhere. I honestly believe that (at least where i hunt down state) there are as many ,if not more deer wounded then are ever tagged and brought home.. Very sad.. There aren't enough bears or coyotes in Letchworth park to eat the dead deer laying around as gifts. But that is a totally different subject..2 points

Airguns in Bow Season..Can see it now. Who would ever know on private land? This will just make a crooks life much easier. Wonder if the state will add a tag so they make some extra cash?2 points

I've been waiting for a golden crack at a red fox for some time now but never pulled the trigger since I didn't know what the hell I'd do with one. On 11-3-15 this dude came rolling by the stand at 8yds and I immediately knew I would come up with something.] He was originally supposed to be turned into a fuzzy trappers hat, but insteaed got sewed into a ML accessory pouch. I sewed a fleece liner and stitched it in the best I could. It ain't perfect, but it 's a great reminder of the quiet encounter.2 points

RIGHT…but they post on the POLITICAL thread. No one is forced to look at or respond to the political thread. They choose to . They have already succeeded in having the political thread moved to where you have to look for it. Now they look for it, find it and complain about it. People insist on seeking out certain people and bashing them when they could quite easily just ignore them. Its an obvious play at bashing and attempting to silence opposing views. I really hope that the mods stay neutral and separate themselves from this B.S. and don't bend, any further, to a few bias whiners.2 points

I didn't receive any gifts hunting related, but when my son asked what I wanted a week before Christmas, my 6 year old daughter said "daddy wants a new gutting knife and new gun." I told my wife and son to ask my daughter from now on. lol2 points

It's VERY rare anyone pays much attention to stuff like that anymore unless it's announced on the daily news, or their rolling around in the bed of a pick-up with someone elses girlfriend, lol Be sure to bring your cats in and beware the wearwolves! WOOT-WOOT- OHHOOOOOO!!!2 points

Thanks all! Now that I got a few deer carcasses located in good areas that haven't been hit yet, I might try to ZAP a few more furry fuzzys over them. I have a few more ideas in mind for some furbearer skins and I'm planning on putting some serious effort into predator hunting this winter. As always..., I'll lug the camera along for any necessary follow up shots!2 points

I just wonder why NY would go this route and not suppressors like many other states have.2 points

Well, the season is finally over...after 3 months of hunting I'm sitting at the dining room table with a cup of coffee thinking about some of the hunts. Some really comical with people busting up a hunt while grunting in a buck with their dog and on horseback coming right on top of me. Got to spend a lot of time in the woods and had a good time. Got my honey's "do" list ready to go for the day in preparation for the Christmas dinner. Got a good wife that puts up with a lot during hunting season! But I do have to admit the tag tastes like crap however you fix it! Have a great Christmas everybody and God bless you all with a healthy, peaceful new year! Jeff1 point

Buffalo has a lot of their starters out injured . We will see how the backups do . The Cowboys are using their 4th QB in this game and I think it's his first start ever or at least in an Away game .1 point

A very broad statement that you never choose to debate. Your opinion is noted, but challenged. If you have the intelligence and information to stand by your claims in an intellectual, factual debate, I welcome it. If, however, you choose to engage in childish, opinionated statements, without the guts to back them up, I ignore you, and encourage other informed members to do likewise. At least we now have proof you are a liberal leftist, since you've stated your opinion regarding your thoughts on the conservative mindset. Time to lower your flag and raise an Obama insignia.1 point

Actually, I was volunteering at the Firehouse at the time, because somebody has to be there when an alarm comes in. Interestingly, we don't have a single member who would be considered one of these "fearful" Leftists. We would never exclude them, but for some reason they don't volunteer.1 point

Food plots are important but cover is more important, do yourself a favor and do a whole property evaluation before you start and find out what you really need to hold deer in daylight on your property1 point
