A little overcast n breezy , not to bad compared to the walk in ! I'm drenched, but good to be back in the tree. Bumped a doe on the way in , Bucks only (1 antler with 3 pt's 1 inch or better) for the first 2 weeks , then doe's are legal for a week, then Bucks only again for remainder of season regardless of implement. Could shoot hogs but that's too much work for one guy , who knows how ichy my finger is ..., Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

They are stealth boxes that the DEC uses to release all of those coyotes and pumacougars... The wildlife spooks just forgot to clean up after themselves.4 points

Those cheap plastic sleds work well, even with no snow. Other than that ……...Buy an ATV… You will kick yourself in the a$$ for not buying one years ago…….LOL!!4 points

Biz, I ate at The Shake Shack on Newbury, lol. And then Georgetown cupcakes which were awesome. I watched a woman trying to parallel park there while girls were shopping. Bang ! she'd back into one car, bang she'd pull forward into the other. She bent both license plates on both cars. After hitting each car a good 8-10x she got out and looked at her parking. Only half the car was out of the street lol . Daughters International ballet competition was right around the corner. And not to mention a great beer/wine store right around the other corner. Time management was key2 points

Yea. Sox game tonight. We have tried all the oyster places here, we like B&G and island creek the best. Headed to island creek before the game for oysters This Berkshire beer at Papa Razzi was pretty good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Biz, you in Boston ,Mass ? Check out The Union Oyster House ( First restaurant in US) and 20 yards from there is Green Dragon where Paul Revere started discussing the revolution. (good ole bar) If you see any Treehouse brewing or Trillium brewing beers get them. Some of the best IPA's in the world. PS have a bowl of chowdah for me.2 points

Glendell full rut, I shoot thousands of arrows a year and mine lasted 5 years with as many inserts, just broke down and bought a new one last week. If they keep making them that's what I'll shoot for the rest of my life. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Price bargaining...on line... If you know that your dealing with a small company(relative term) and the online price seems too much..call them up and say so! Mr B did this this a.m. for parts.. 49.00 brought down to 29 ...15.00 down to 7.95...Even the rep on the phone said 15. For a tiny spring, that's crazy! Then got a supervisor....See they know..most will just hit those buy buttons..can't blame them for that..We need to be proactive consumers. Food for thought1 point

Here's the same scope but just a pitiful 50mm objective....can't get any weirder that that! PH said I was the first American he ever hunted with that owned a Blaser; thought we just bought good rifles not Euro junk. Maybe I should pound a 300 Roy' head into the stock? Hmmmm, maybe I should melt it in? You like them sweet 30 cal magnums too, right?1 point

Only been 6 days since I planted the clover Saturday, but I figured I better check to see if anything is growing because if not, I will plant throw and grow. Well I was happy to see the clover is sprouting all over the cleared area. Deer came in the first night (after midnight) and all week since. Hopefully it can grow even with them hammering it everyday. They don't seem to mind the ground blind which is right here too. Will check the other cams next week. Kicked up 1 deer on my way in couldn't see buck or doe and kicked up a doe on the way out. Had over 180 pics in 6 days. It's on 3 shot burst so really like 60 something. Jay..........The cart could be your huckleberry if there's no snow. If there is snow, a plastic sled is the nuts. I've never used a cart but seen them in action. I have used a sled and it worked great. Sometimes it'll roll but lash them on TIGHT and it should work out fine. I've been fortunate to have either a machine to use or a friend within 20 minutes to help with the yankage........ Last year after I shot the 200+ pound archery buck I knew I was in trouble. No wait, I was F#*%$!, big time. I made a quick call to a friend who I thought might be home and he came from Hamburg to East Aurora and brought his 20 something step son along. The kid was strong as an ox! Two years ago I killed a decent 8pt with the bow and he was no light weight either. I don't recall the weight off hand (and don't feel like searching my posts or going upstairs to review my diary) but IIRC was in the 160lbs range. For some reason I decided to bring that buck out the shorter way which was UPHILL but much shorter than the downhill option. I drug that buck almost no stop for 30 plus minutes like SuperFreakingMan. Dumb move Larry...........you can't believe how much Makers Mark it took to heal my joints. Big bucks are great until it's time to drag, load, butcher etc.1 point

That's what stemmed my question. Saw that on sale in their flyer. A cart though really won't help with the terrain I'm trying to maneuver thru, They gotta suck in snow too I don't process myself so quartering doesn't seem like the way to go. Seems like it would be a crapload of work as well.1 point
-
Quarter them up and pack them out on a packframe...Beats hell out of dragging.1 point

Bad start.......you're just going to hamstring your hunting/shooting using the wrong draw length mods. I don't know what to tell you other than cut your losses now. I believe you've said money is tight? If so, watch for a smoking deal like the one TC dealt last week. THAT was the deal of the year.1 point

I've done in excess of 300 residential interior stair builds and I put a front page of the local newspaper in everyone, usually behind the first riser or in the bottom newel post. Just for fun.1 point

I embedded pennies, representing year of manufacture, in most of the furniture, boats, and musical instruments I've made. The owners don't even know.1 point

That's funny. I've done the same thing but differently before. Think about doing something and forget that I've already done it. Getting old ain't pretty...........1 point

There is no such thing as an actual population number which is why the DEC does not release such a thing. They get an accurate take number from cooperative hunters statewide (that is the OP here), using that and other survey methods they come up with population densities. Then the local CTF determines the local priority factors and determine how many does should be culled (not based on buck/doe ratios or carrying capacity). Then basically they have to multiply that number by 6.5 (since only 15% of dmps get filled) to hand out enough permits to actually take enough breeders. The WMU breakdown will get released in some way or another soon, if nothing else the number of permits allocated per WMU divided by 6.5 tells you approximately how many does the CTF/DEC wants culled. If you are really concerned call the DEC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
