Pretty cool photos from Nov 2 and Feb 1. Amazing the neck size difference. Photos are about 400 yards apart. Main target for next year and hopefully can find his sheds when its time. Snow picture is 30 yards from where I have a bow stand and shot my PA buck this year just about where he's standing, I also have a stand in the top spot, major rut travel routes.
There are still some good people here that I'd hate to lose contact with, should this site suddenly disappear. I have no idea why Burmjohn will not contact his loyal moderators?? They are the one's keeping the flame alive for now.
I have been a member here for years. And will stay and contribute to the end.
Not to be disparaging to this site. But there is another NY site. And ALL are welcome should you choose to check it out.
I read that whitetails have incredibly robust immune systems that enables them to sustain wounds that would kill other animals - not them, though! For them, many wounds will heal, bacteria neutralized and theyre good to go!!
That was a back footprint.
It was under a pile of pine trees .
There was still snow under there and no bare ground.
It may have hunkered down there on the 15 th of January or there abouts , when they got 50 plus inches of snow.
Either way I read bears don't always hibernate all winter .
They did have warm temps and rain a few weeks ago.
I also saw fisher tracks meandering through hare territory.
Oh and some grouse as well.
They usually startled me .
The wind was in our favor and this male was dropped at 18 paces with the Impulse 22-250/XP50 LRF.
The dog to the left got lucky and disappeared as I was letting my buddy that couldn't see the dogs coming in know one was coming in and real close too.

Aren't they remarkable animals? I have seen a couple of deer that have had legs shot off and still able to keep up with other deer that are running away. I shot one that was missing a front leg and it had skin grown over the wound and was one of the fattest deer I have ever shot. Just amazing.
I am wondering if these kinds of long slices are from buck fights.
I'm on call this weekend and had to take care of an emergency, so my buddy went out solo Friday night.
With a storm approaching I knew the dogs would be on the prowl, especially at the two new farms we just got access to.
He dropped 2 coyote and a big fox.
This is the second time he's hunted solo and I couldn't be more proud of his success.
