Thanks for the good post Philoshop. The FCC is made up of 5 commissioners as you pointed out. By law the president can only appoint three members of the same party, so three (the majority) are Democrats. Ajit Pai and Michael O'Reilly (the two Republicans) have tried repeatedly to have an open debate but Obama is planning to abuse his powers again bypassing congress under the guise that this is merely a routine matter of "regulation" and his appointed chairman, Democrat, Wheeler, in banana republic fashion, is set to change the internet forever and for the worse by this unconstitutional action and power grab. With so much in common, it is no wonder why our president is so friendly toward the Cuban dictator. I was incorrect in my post by saying Ajit Pai and Obama refused to make the 322 page micro managing FFC interment controlling document public. Ajit Pai was actually try to warn us. It was Obama and Thomas Wheeler the Chairman who are keeping this secret until it is voted on. As I mentioned above, nothing good or of benefit to our country will come of this. I am amazed there are some people in the forum who don't see the value of discussing such matters as this which really goes beyond normal politics. Their fundamental rights are being taken away right before their very eyes and they don't seem to care. Amazed!

I looked at pellet stoves and did a lot of research. I Decided on a new woodstove because: 1. Need electricty to run pellet stove - power outage I'm out of luck. During 4 days of no power during Sandy my woodstove was cranking, cooked on it and heated my house. 2. Pellet stoves have too many mechanical parts to break. Woodstove has no mechanical parts 3. Still need to lug 40lb bags of pelelts around 4. Need to store the pellets in dry location and secure enough that rodents don't get in 5 If the bag of pellets get wet, they turn to sawdust. If wood gets wet uncover it and it dries. 6. I like the smell of burning wood.

Far from amazing IMHO. Some people are simply die hard big government Obama supporters that hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil about this administration. Perhaps it's their blind hatred of the prior Bush administration that was implanted in their minds by the leftist media, that just prevents them from ever seeing any corruption in the Democrats. As far as rights being removed, it's not that they do not care, they refuse to believe it is happening!

When did unelected bureaucrats become lawmakers in this country? The refusal of the bureaucrats to even disclose their proposed regulations to the actual lawmakers should be a pretty good clue that they don't have completely benign intentions in this matter. The whole idea of Public input and discussion was dismissed after the first failed attempt. Now it's entirely behind closed 'curtains' so that there's no dissenting opinion. Certain parts of the proposal do have merit in their overall intent. If that's the extent of your concern, shout it from the rooftop. But even a casual look at what we're being allowed to see in the light of day concerning the actual content, and what is being heard from 2 of the 5 FCC commissioners, lead many of us to believe the basic intentions are far from noble.

I would like to address the notion of why the so called "Democratic" or "progressive" party is not "Liberal" , a term that once implied the conservation of individual liberty. The term right and left is pretty much meaningless in todays world. You have two fundamental philosophies to government, one where there is a desire to centralize government power and that wants to preserve and conserve individual and religious freedoms. Actually the Democratic Party and the so called "modern day liberals" (which are not really "liberal" at all) have much more in common with the Nazi's and the Fascists than they are willing to admit and are are the opposite of conservatives who are the true liberals. The modern day liberals (aka progressives) are for the centralization of power and bigger government along with the diminishing of individual rights and religious freedoms. They have much in common with the effective and practiced policies of Nazi's, fascists and the actual practice of so-called communist states which have used the façade of socialistic democracy to achieve centralization of power before they devolve into dictatorships (which they all do eventually). The term "Liberal" prior to the emergence of the "progressive movement" in the early 20th century meant one that believed in conserving liberty and the preservation of individual freedoms. Hence conservatives are the "true Liberals" in today's world. The term liberal was hijacked in the early to mid 20th century. Using the term liberal, progressives like Franklin Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson were able to fundamentally change the role of government in American society by expanding it under the guise that more regulation meant more freedom. The opposite was true, and they knew it.

Having seen attacks on their hunting and firearm rights for decades, some hunters are just very vigilant when it comes to further attacks on any of their rights by bigger intrusive government. I'd say these posts are very much in line with the interests of many freedom loving hunters and firearm enthusiasts. On the other hand, many hunters see the pastime as an escape from the pressures and demands of the real world and choose not to participate in the vigilance. That's how they wind up with infringements on their rights, like the SAFE Act.

I just pimped out my wife's 20 guage!!! Before: Just a plain stock gun, Undertaker choke / Win XX #6's Bought it just before season last spring so I didn't have time to get it set up right, but it still got the job done... After: Mossy Oak graphics kit, Tru Glo sights, Quake Contour sling, Sims recoil pad,TruGlo SSX choke / Fed. HW #7's Haven't got to pattern it yet due to the frigid weather that seems like it's never going to go away, but...I'm confident it will be an improvement over last year. I may even polish the barrel too. Hopefully, she'll get to try it out in KY in a few weeks!!!

My wood is free and I don't have to travel to get it. Fuel and maintenance for the saws and splitter comes to less than $50 per year to heat my house, and I actually enjoy the labor part of it. At least for now.

I'm dead serious. I am not a fan of any Comcast or any internet service provider. As more options develop for in ISP technology the free market will eliminate companies with unfair fee structures. More efficient low cost operators will prevail. But if monopolies are bad, why should the biggest and most powerful monopoly on earth, the US Government, be entrusted with managing the internet? Do you think the great advances in cell phones, smart phones and portable computer technology would have happened if telephony technology was still managed by the U.S. Government? The governmental red tape, regulations and bureaucracy that will be created will make it very difficult for small start-up companies and will kill competition, not enhance it because only the biggest companies will have the monetary and legal assets required to navigate through the bureaucratic mine field that will be created. The US government has shown repeatedly that it is ineffective in managing much of anything. The government under the current administration of spent the equivalent of 6 years of Face book’s operating cost just to build a simple health care website. That’s over 2 billion dollars ($2,000,000,000.00) of taxpayer money! The founders of the constitution you described intentionally created a government that was slow, ineffective in areas outside its legitimate realm. They wanted it entangled in grid lock in these matters because the greatest danger to the freedom of the citizenry is a government that acts too fast for the people to protect themselves from its propensity to grab power. For some time, FCC commissioner Ajit Pai has stated that the text of his internet neutrality rules plan is 322 pages long . However he and the Obama administration have refused to make it public. It will not be released to the public until after the FCC has voted. Pai claims this regulation will give “the FCC the power to micromanage virtually every aspect of how the Internet works.” There again we have another prime example of executive branch transparency! Here again, why should something like this be decided by unelected Obama appointees? It scares me, are you comfortable with a government that has already tampered with mainstream routers and intercepted private emails having even more power? Net Neutrality means the government will be installing its own hardware and software to monitor internet traffic, something it is ill equipped for technically and for which it has no legitimate business doing under the first amendment of the constitution.

The Constitution put in place a federal government to better enable the union of states to handle foreign affairs. It's powers were limited to, and are still supposed to be limited to: war, peace, foreign negotiation, and foreign commerce.

I've decided Curm is correct. There is no way any amount of information or education will change the mind of anyone who is firmly convinced something is fact. Therefore I'm not going to bother expending energy with replies to posts that are contrary. The problem with the country today is there are too many things people "know" that just aren't true. We need to change the country's slogan to "God Help America".

Ok, a lot of us are getting cabin fever and are on the verge of insanity. I have a great project figured out for at least one of these house-bound days. I'm dragging out all my poles and tackle boxes and going through everything. I'm going to toss what is busted, useless, or just plain doesn't work, and fix all the stuff that needs fixing, and putting new line on the poles, etc., etc. So, anyone looking for something useful to do during winter, that is something that you will appreciate next spring, and also gets you mind off of this crappy record-setting winter and onto a better time of year.

it's not uncommon for professors to encourage research or projects that analyze some off the wall concept or fictional scenario. I found this out when I went to college. for an "architecture behavior and design" class the final project I pretty much had to do was a bit screw up. if you can turn something nuts and/or ridiculous into good conclusive, analytical, research then it proves you're most likely capable working on something a little more realistic with concepts you can easier wrap your head around.

No one should have been feeding them in Oct. as well...the only way to ever feed a deer is through conservation efforts on land through planting and or woodlot work..ie...tree cutting and trimming
