  1. Owch,. Trooper! She is awesome!
  2. The bucks are starting to check the doe so I would agree with TurtleFace you can start anytime now.
  3. Welcome aboard, great to have you!!!
  4. Stud 2.5 or average 3.5, regardless a real beauty! Good luck with him!
  5. Topic was brought up in another post, looks like a hunter was in the wrong place at the wrong time or the target shooters did not have a good back stop. Not really a hunting accident it is a target shooting accident. Know your backstop and what is beyond! And stay away from the back of rifle ranges!
  6. WoW those G1's are long! Looks like a good one, good luck with him!
  7. 2 weeks to go till the big trip, trying to shake a cold right now. Hope to get out this weekend if possible. Really hope the weather changes and we get some snow in Inlet, regardless should be a good time. Good luck all you deep woods hunters, be safe! In so far as ready I would say no, not really, lol.
  8. All my guns look like that after a long week in the wet ADK with no ability to dry off! Next gun will be stainless composite if I ever buy another.
  9. Glade to hear, tell him we miss him. Come back and show us some of his pictures! Best of luck to you both this season!
  10. My theory is that from chasing or checking doe all night the bucks tend to rest early morning then take the trails down wind to scent check the doe beds. I have had great luck 10-2 but some of my best encounters where first light over the years. Something always went wrong on those early morning hunts. 100% my fault. Many of those set ups where from tracking the day before and anticipating movement based on doe activity and bucks tracking them. Often this was done with the help of snow when present. Funny most of my success has been on dry ground midday and most fails where in snow early morning. Go figure.
  11. Welcome aboard! Great to have you! Jump right in just don't take this to serious, someone will always have a different opinion on something. All good fun with some great people here, enjoy! Thanks for your service!!!
  12. I use to draw on deer often, now I only do it if I want a kill shot. Less movement = more deer and less chance of getting spotted.
  13. Report yesterday was excellent movement in late afternoon till dark. Good luck!
  14. Ahh Love it when this starts to happen. More than likely you have some doe starting to smell real good to them! Buddy is in a tree now and says deer are everywhere! That time of the year again. If you can get out the next month anytime do it! Wish I was not sick again or I would be out this weekend to, might still give it a shot as the weather is so mild. Have to give up smoking! For good this time!!!
  15. Document everything! We have some really good ECO and DEC in NY most are outstanding officers only interested in preserving and protecting our resources. E-mail is a great way to document and protect yourself. Personally I would stay away from that area, good luck hope you get some resolve.
  16. I agree that it is early. Don't burn yourself out, 2 more weeks and things will really kick off.
  17. I would hunt another spot, not worth getting into a conflict and plenty of other deer and spots to hunt. JMO. Some people are so self centered that they think the deer belong to them.
  18. I have a small drag rope and do the same with finding a piece of wood to drag. I once used a hip bone from a deer instead of the wood, both worked good. The sled sounds real good for drags over a mile!
