I think the place you're talking about is out on Guyonoga Road, south of 364 -- no clue name of dealer or brands they have. https://www.google.com/maps/@42.6875405,-77.1327501,17z I've also ones at Runnings in Canandaigua, but again not sure of brand.

How many bullets do you bring in the field when you hunt
JJBat150 replied to Deerstalker's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
For the muzzle loader I carry 3 speed loaders. Thanksgiving morning I was sitting on a dirt pile in the woods, and was able to shoot 1 doe @ 40 yards , slowly reload, shoot another doe at 45 yards, slowly reload and watch a third doe only to pass up a 30 yard shot. All while wearing a solid blaze orange jacket with no camouflage or blind to break up my silhouette. Agree with ncountry - it's all about the mindset of the hunter. -
Family property I've hunted my whole life. We have a wooden stand on the property that's been used for over 25 years. It was my fathers' opening day stand until he stopped hunting around 8 years ago. I then started hunting it opening day. The stand has been productive every year, as it over looks several trails and borders some pretty thick crab apple patches. It's been rebuilt a few times, and looks like after this season, it's due for another re-build. 3 years ago on opening day, my oldest daughter was with me in it when I harvested a doe that she passed on shooting. 2 years ago we were in it opening day together - she passed up a few shots, but I was able to watch her harvest a nice buck the second day of the season. Last year, she was on he high school senior trip opening day, so I had the stand to myself. Looks like this year, the reigns are being passed, and she'll be solo in the stand, and due to a bum knee, I'll be staying in a ground stand that I used opening opening day years ago. This stand has a nice shooting lane towards a ditch that the deer have to cross as they travel down a well worn path - dropped many deer on the other side of the ditch as they stop before crossing.

How many weapons have you taken a deer with ?

Growing up in the county, we didn't have alot of neighbors, so Baseball in the side yard involved lots of "ghost runners". The Barn was the outfield wall, hit it for an automatic "ground rule double" unless you hit the coupla - automatic homerun. BB guns and .22's for target shooting. "bazooka wars" with bottle rocks. We also discovered that Estes model rocket engines would launch from lengths of pipe - although not very stable in flight. Down the street from a friends house was a local "lover's lane". We would wait until the right moment, then start pounding on the side of a car that was visiting, then run like hell into the woods. In the fall, we would travel to the local hamlets at night and going "chucking" - this involved left over produce from the neighboring farms, eggs, and what ever else we could get our hands on. Halloween night was our most productive time. Spent alot of time in a nearby creek catching crayfish, we were rewarded by finding someone's stash of Playboy magazines. Three wheels, dirt bikes, and field cars taught how how to recover from bone-jarring crashes. Cornfield mazes. We would cut the leaves off the plants to make corridors to travel (corn plants can give you a healthy paper cut to the face). We knew not to cut down too many plants, because we the corn was the income for the farm.

Our boathouse is directly behind the ice cream shop, but never had an IAFF sticker on it. Dad retired from Canandaigua Local 2098 and I know there's 3 or 4 other active & retirees that have boathouses, so it maybe one of them. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

Our boathouse has been in the family since the late 60's.Lots of headaches at times, and lots of changes in the character of what they used to be. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

As much as we complain about NY State and all the "downers" here, spending time like makes it worth staying. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

Will be interesting to see if the finger lakes produce some lake effect snow bands.

6th morning out during gun season in 8J, and it's the most noise I've heard. So far it's been crows, turkeys gobbling, fox and woodpeckers. Squirrels are on the run, now just waiting for some deer... -
Do any of you choose slug gun over rifle?
JJBat150 replied to Billdogge's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
IN 2009 I switched from using a Rem 870 12 gauge with a rifled barrel & Red dot scope to a CVA Buckhorn .50 caliber muzzleloader with a 3 x 9 scope. First season with a mix of carrying both the 870 and CVA depending on mood. since then the 870 hasn't been shot. (It's a dedicated slug gun that I never change over to a field barrel). When Ontario County allowed Rifles, I stuck with the muzzleloader, even though I have a Rem 700 SPS in .308. My oldest Daughter started hunting last year, and I got her a Mossy 500 20 gauge with a rifled barrel. It's a tack drive and a lot easier on the shoulder then the 12 gauge, so if I ever when back to carrying a slug gun, I would probably go that route. if anything - I'd upgrade to a higher grade muzzleloader, even though the CVA has put a lot of venison on the table. -

Got one of the original plot watchers 5 or 6 years ago, and ran it for a few years watching fields & plots Ran it in time lapse mode taking pictures every 10 or 30 seconds, sun up to sun down; runs through a lot of memory doing that. Use 8 GB thumb drives and was swapping them out once a week. Battery life was surprisingly good, but didn't run it in really cold weather. Because of the time lapse and low resolution, you didn't get alot of details unless you set the camera up close to where the deer were traveling. Website doesn't seem to have too much about the original plot watcher model I had http://day6outdoors.com/index.php Actually had more fun with the camera doing stuff like this: http://youtu.be/3XGLBuAGQ40

Shooting a CVA buckhorn with similar results. Been carrying it for 3 deer seasons and used it last year for woodchucking. I know what Elmo means about the feel of the stock, but it sure is solid... and lightweight.
