Is the recruit compound crossbow legal in NY? I looked at one in Dicks but the guy said the limbs were not legal, supposed to be seventeen inches and he said it was sixteen. So I didn't buy it . Anyone know for sure? The recurve recruit is legal but a lot slower.

Congrats and thanks to your son for his service.

Buying property and leaving trailer there.
hunter replied to crfingnutz's topic in Camping and Hiking
Most places will let you leave a trailer for camping without utilities. You probably will need an outhouse or compost toilet in a shed. Taking the trailer to dump will get old. -
Browning BLR or Remington 7600
hunter replied to MACHINIST's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I traded a 7600 years ago and still regret it. I think the pump will give you faster follow up shots than the blr. Don't get me wrong I use a lever as my reg rifle since I no longer have the pump and it is great but would take the pump if I still had it. Now to add to the confusion the Brownings are great guns also and probably more valuable than the Remington. Good luck, I don't think there is a bad choice here. -
Glad to hear, good luck.

30 Years Alone In A Tent In The Maine Woods & Not Noticed
hunter replied to Mr VJP's topic in General Chit Chat
If he asked some of those people he stole from would have let him house sit and maybe paid him. As for what made him like this I would guess he was married, lol. -
Tie a bow on your wife's welcome home present.

Still have a decent amount of moose from last year. This is despite sharing it with my three friends who came. Guess it's time to give away more. Maybe chili night at the next club meeting too.

Selling Savage 300 win mag syn stock adj trigger but not accu trigger action has to be removed from stock to adjust. Maybe five yo barely used. Long barrel, maybe 24 in pics to follow or can send by ph if interested. Paid $550 ask $400 includes Simmons scope. Less than four boxes through this rifle. will go through ffl on LI or Chenango co.

it has been said that this caliber will take any game on the mainland. Some say you would want more gun for grizzlies but for NY and everything but grizzlies including moose and elk I think it will do fine. Good luck.

No but we never seem to take enough because success rate is low.

Crossbow, new stove and furnace for new camp. Have to get my self motivated as I want to sell my bow and some guns to help finance.

BTW no disrespect NFA, but don't trust realtors. I can't count how many times I have been misled by realtors interested in making a sale.

Yeah, I would avoid this as well as seasonal roads. With private roads unless there is an association it is informal with no way of getting people to pay their share. I avoided a place in this situation in Delaware county where the road was a circle and the guy in the back posted the road. I doubt he had the legal right but why bother? Good luck.

TheDEC website says the 4th. I don't know if it's better to go on the first day or not if you are applying for doe permits.

The county clerk office has a list of approved courses for both basic and conceal carry. -
Nice job, enjoy.

As for the forearm you might want to look into synthetic replacement of both the stock and forearm. More money now but crack proof.

Congrats, have a great trip.

Just to let you guys know Maine has recently changed their system for the Mose lottery to make it easier for those in the long run. You can buy points for years you can't go and the points increase after five and ten years. They also guarantee if you have ten points after 70 Years old I think. My trip cost less than two thousand including house rental and meat cutting. Travel was extra. Just be careful some zones do not have public land and some don't have motels or house rentals like zone 1. It was the best hunting trip of my life.
