  1. To activate the charcoal it needs to be heated to 200 * first. I put mine in the oven on low for 10 min and it makes a big difference.

    Timid or bold?

In recent years I have found that the bucks change their pattern within a week of opener. So week one will be trying to see them around the stands I have been patterning them at. After that I will reassess the pattern. Usually I end up with a deer around Veteran's day and leave the cams out till close of ML. The week after thanksgiving and the first week of Dec I always get pics of big boys cruising through, only if I had the patience to wait that long.
  3. Hahahahaha oh I remember that post!! I still laugh about it.
  4. I love this thread every year but I'll tell ya it does distract ya in the field. Figured I'd post now to stay informed on the thread feed. Lol
  5. I saw an advertisement for that on the outdoor channel about an hour ago (gotta do something to pass the time while I watch the newborn). The concept sounds kinda cool but in use it doesn't make sense. I'm sure the poachers love them. You'd still need to make a good shot on vitals so why not just use a broadhead or a gun?
  6. Doesn't really feel like "food for thought" feels like a thread on getting your pitch fork ready and torches to burn a guy at the stake. You are advocating way too much for us to dislike this guy and cwd. I'm not saying it's impossible for a cross over like mad cow but you're making me not want to credit any research already published by posting pricing of round bales of hay from states too far away. Scale it back a few degrees and not drown us in late night articles with random real estate listings and bale pricing. I was interested in the first article but geez man c'mon we aren't all attacking your farm or discrediting deer farming. If anything I'd rather have you as a resource of patterns and actions of white tail.
  7. Yeah I agree with predate, If you don't brush hog or do some type of path clearing no tree stand or tripod is really going to be helpful. The deer will boogie on through 8' grass with out you seeing them
  8. Well, what an exhausting day! Mom and baby are doing very well. Thanks for all of the kind words and well wishes!!
  9. Lawd the moment is still near. I think I have time to go find a cup a coffee cause I don't see sleep in my near future.... Thanks for the good thoughts
  10. Well my wife's water broke at 845 last night. We went to the hospital at 230 am and I'm still sitting here waiting to meet my little girl. Talk about nerve wracking. Such a mix bag of emotions between nervous, excited and scared as it's our first. Got that off my chest now I'll go back to watching all the computer screens.
  11. I love squirrel hunting! I get to spend some quality time with my old man in the woods and to boot I've found multiple new deer stands from walking the woods.
  12. Make sure you get a good pin pointer. We use the garret at pro and love it. Actually was out today and found a .22 mag shell and an old pocket knife.
  13. All seriousness though, you should give Oakwood Trading Post a call. Those guys are pretty low key and if you stop in and buy some ammo they may just help you find a spot to shoot. 235-4867 is the shop number
  14. The way things have been going in Troy you can probably just set up in the street. Cops won't even bother you. Hell you could probably go down to King Fuels and spend a day shooting.
  15. I've never had genny light, had genny cream ale when I was younger. We used to call it genny screamer, cause the next day you were screaming to the toilet.
  16. Wooly with pictures like these who needs trail cams?!!!? Great pics as always.
  17. I had a problem like that with a moultrie last year. It ended up being the SD card that had another camera file on it so it corrupted the camera. Had to do a factory reset and clear the SD completely of all files and it worked again. Maybe try that?
  18. Our apple trees are bare and the apple orchard is a ghost town. Our pear trees are all low hanging though, not sure why one fruit is growing and the other is not. The acorns are definitely plentiful. It is looking like the hardwoods will be the place to be early season.
  19. I really like when people give their best guess with their measurements that led them to the number. Drives me crazy when I see people saying 137 3/8" As for the buck, he sure is a beast. Good luck on getting a shot this year!!
  20. Good gravy, that's a sweet looking buck. Best of luck with him this year, hopefully we will get to read about the success story this year.
  21. I got mine yesterday with 2 dmp. Took 3 attempts to process before it finally went through. 1/2 of my time wasted for a new program that saved me a $1 and cost me more waiting to process. Smh
