  1. I have a .22 Logun MK II that fits this bill. Crazy accurate too.
  2. My son has a gamo and its plenty accurate to kill squirrels at 15-25yds. Not a 100yd shooter like some of the expensive PCPs, but it will do the job for what you want.
  3. I assumed it is an exclusive lease and would want an option on the property for 2016-17 for an agreed price. Otherwise, quality is key. Look for trespassing too.
  4. If its good hunting property (i.e. decent deer population and very huntable - not all open fields) - $20/acre is reasonable around here for an entire year. Some go for less and some much more. It really depends on the specifics of the land.
  5. Congrats! Ignoring the idiot, sounds like a perfect opening day!
  6. High shoulder on a big doe put her down immediately on Sat. Full pass through too. I will stick with shoulder shots with a gun.
  7. I object to this whole thread - especially its title! Jinxed for sure - well maybe only Phade is jinxed. Thinking Phade may be drinking at the airport.
  8. Just thought I would provide a quick review of this sharpening system. It is really, really good. I like to have sharp knives and regularly touch them up, but this thing brought them to a whole new level - beyond hair shaving sharp. I received it yesterday and spent maybe 1/2 hour touching up my hunting knives and sharpening a kitchen knife that was duller than dull. All (7 or 8 knives) came out great, from higher end benchmades with s30v, to Moras, CRKT and even a Buck that I have had for 30yrs and never could get really sharp with my stone. The most impressive was how it brought the very dull chef's knife to razor sharp in less than 5 minutes. Well worth the $55-60 the kit costs. Very easy to use too after reading instructions. Almost foolproof - although there are probably fools that can prove me wrong. I don't have the diamond (used for reshaping) or ultra fine rods and not sure that I need them, but will likely invest in those at some point. Anyways for this product.
  9. My friend who taught me to process and whose family owned a meat market forever, told me that the whole refreezing prohibition is a fallacy. He said no worries doing it to make sausage. You can agree or disagree, but he is very careful with his processing.
  10. Post a photo of one of those next to a quarter for reference. Love to see it. Takes the whole heavy is better argument to the extreme.
  11. 460 grain conical.... Holy smokes, that's like firing a bowling ball.
  12. LOL - me too, I love donuts and will not share them with deer for any trophy
  13. Put yourself in the best position. Move it IMHO.
  14. 1. Savage 220 with 260g Remington accutips; 2. Sako Bavarian Carbine .308 with 180g winchester power max bonded; 3. Henry 30-30 with 150g federal cheap stuff (shoot great though); and 4. Encore MZ with 250g Barnes EZ and BH 209 (80g by weight, 110 by volume).
  15. Have to admit, I would bust a gut watching one of my hunting buddies trying to gallop towards bedded deer. I could see it working as I am surprised how much noise bucks make chasing. But, my laughing would likely scare them away first. Good effort though Sam. Heck, there's no chance I would be passing a 130s buck anyway.
  16. I too would pull the plug. Mistakes can happen and I will roll with that but I certainly expect extra attention to get it right once the first mistake is made and is being corrected. If that's not the case, then I would simply lose faith in the maker's ability and attention to detail (pretty important for a gun maker).
  17. I use the 209 in my encore pro hunter. Love the 209 and the encore.
  18. Sitting in a double with my 13 year old son overlooking a small valley that deer regularly cross and next to doe bedding. It should be quite the squeeze (not his fault). I may need Vaseline if I have to stand to shoot. I just hope we see a few deer to keep him interested. A decent buck would be a huge bonus.
