Uncharted waters here folks........................17 yo daughter going to movie with "boyfriend". She wanted him to come over and watch Netflixs and I said no. I'm nervous as hell about it and don't know how to handle it. IIRC he is 2 years older, a past classmate. What scares me is my memory is still pretty good and I remember how I was at 17, 19 or EVEN 13. This is difficult stuff for me........at this point probably the toughest yet. I know I'll be fine and more importantly so will she............... Kids...........I thought things would get easier as they got older!

I just hang my Elite quiver by the onboard hanger......if it didn't have that hanger though I'd be buying all the OP's stuff I could find. OP: anymore inventions in the pipeline?

Saw that in Sunday's Buffalo Snooze. Interesting to say the least. Cool old bird I bet, probably had lots of stories to tell........

So is it for sale? -
My boss gave me 3 books on CD to listen to. I have had them for a couple weeks and just figured I'd probably not listen to them as I enjoy the satellite music in my truck. This time of year I don't make too many trips of more than 20 minutes or so solo so I thought maybe I'd give them a try in the fall when traveling for hunting. Well yesterday I went down to Honeoye Lake and couldn't find a darn thing that suited me on the truck stereo. I figured WTH and cranked in the first CD on the book "Without Fail" . Man was I in trouble.........I slowed down my driving to purposely hear more of the damn thing! I finished the first CD and couldn't stop thinking about it all day. I fished until about 3:00, loaded the boat and popped in CD #2. It's never taken me soooo long to get back into town. I finished #2 and part of #3 by the time I got home. Grabbed a beer and finished #3 in the driveway. #4 and #5 were finished this morning, I hate to burn daylight sitting on my azz at home but it was exciting listening! Jack Reacher has got me, I'll be grabbing a paperback book or two but I'll save those other two CD books for the fall.

In the event of a poorly placed shot I'll gladly go with a heavier shaft and the resulting penetration.
-
There's no downside to over penetration........................

Cool find! Oldest deer I've shot or handled was 5.5 and he had way more going on than that deer! I bet a biologist at the DEC would love to see that but I wouldn't give it to them without a promise of letting you know their findings. Keep us posted if you do that.

Almost all the guys I hunt with are older than me. Only one is younger........and he is 46 IIRC. A couple are gone now but we still have dad at 76, Tom D @ 78, Clark @ 72, Don H @ 84 etc................every year for the past 30 years I've been helping the old guys. It is getting tougher each year for them AND me! The biggest buck killed last year in camp was killed by Don H................. I got dad a new rifle this past winter to keep him interested and excited. He's really looking forward to this fall!

Those dudes sure must have had some pull to get those fancy Post It Notes...........................

You really don't need to ask do you? All the good stuff: Bait, prayer and great shot choices. Well done dad......

Happened Friday night, according to the story. Sad deal for sure. The last name of the deceased is also the last name of a friend of mine from this site. I'm hoping there is no connection.................................

Thought of another "must" have.........a fan. If you don't like the heat, a fan can really help you sleep and..........if all the strange noises out in the wild are going to keep your wife awake at night the fan could help a ton. YMMV

FAT CITY!! Looks good ...........rob. Where did you camp?
-
If'n you're "car camping", go heavy on the niceties! How big is the tent? Cooking table, screen room, great chairs, table for inside tent, water containers x 5, high end food etc, Electric (may as well!) on site?? Extension cords, lamp for tent and cooking area........etc etc.
-
All good man, all good.
-
Where are you camping?? Only once in my life (IIRC) have I camped in a "campgrounds" and that was last summer at Keuka Lake State Park. It was OK but I'd much rather NOT be with other people I don't know. The showers and porcelain throne were nice but a sponge bath and 5gal bucket work fine too.

That'd be a cool cabin for a lot of different get togethers besides hunting. I'm thinking a snowshoe hike in and an overnighter would be the cats meow. Nice pics doc, thanks.

Wow what a cool trip. The planning and preparation that goes into a trip like this can sometimes be just as much fun as the actual hunt but I doubt it on this one! The scenery, game hunted and a chopper ride have to put this hunt at the top of the list in excitement. Great pics and outcome Dan, congrats on another great adventure!

Dinner was great! Certainly not what I was expecting........wonderful service, ambiance and food made it highly enjoyable. I'd recommend it in a heart beat if you are in the area. They are located on the east side of Main St, just at the intersection where you turn east to head to the 390.

Looks like a fun time other than the crowds. Let us know how you do!
