Yup not around there anymore. I'm still getting it for less than $0.10 a round for high velocity stuff. Standard and subsonic I've had to cough up more but it helps in bullseye pistol competition.

Crazy! good to hear the family wasn't traumatized too bad.
-
Only have seen it once. Two jakes twisted their neck around the other's and then had a pushing match. Kind of like thumb wrestling.

I would still use the bracket I mentioned. When you mount that thing out there your bow is going to be pretty heavy to that side. Adding a side weight to counter balance it will just make it even heavier. Even if you take your quiver off in the stand what's to say you don't run into a deer along the way with your quiver on.

haven't shot many hoyts in the past few years. definitely have the right equipment to put game down that's for sure. what arrows are you shooting?
-
so when do you start it? I don't do the not shaving until you get a deer because of my job. I have cousins that do though.

Good heavier bullet and limited distance of say 100 yards I'd take anything except maybe moose and any bear bigger than a black bear.

Haha not sensitive. Just throwing out my reasoning. Translations get lost in forums at times. I and others others I know have screwed up a couple of decent rifles that way before learning. 3" and bigger groups is usually something else like scope or mounting when talking the setup and not the person. Guns are pretty predictable. I've figured out all the little stuff adds up so why ignore it if it's not too much of a burden.

Figure I could post an update. Couple months ago I setup on one and ranged it at 428 to its hole it was perched over. Dialed in dope, fired, and was about 4-5 inches off. Tried three more shots that morning to connect but just missed each time. Later that day shot at one at 150 yards and missed. Knew something was up so I took it to the range and discovered the scope lost and wouldn't hold zero at all. Could barely hit the edges of a 3" shoot n c target at 200". I've since put a 3-9x30 deer hunting scope on it to get me through until it can be sent back for repairs. Shots aren't much over 200 yards now. I've managed to get a dozen or so chucks since then. All pretty recent as the hay fields have gotten bailed now.

My dad's 7600 that shoots subMOA is the same way but the point is the rifling isn't messed up so it still shoots well. You are entitled to think what you want. That said if a little piece of rock on the truck floor dings the rifling or over and over again you clean it from the muzzle and wear rifling to one side at the muzzle your accuracy will degrade. Aluminum against steel won't kill something for a while. Those habits can and do screw up a rifle though. Muzzle loaders rod tips are centered over a ball or bullet. Also when swabbing them they're covered with a patch. Contact is made but then again muzzleloaders aren't as accurate as rifles in general anyway. Take that all and think what you want.

Along the highways are usually small pockets of not hunt able timber or cover. I've seen big ones out this way too and out 88.

Cleaned up around a reservoir earlier this with some others. Road side trash but a lot of it was trash from people fishing it; worm containers, cans, lure packaging, etc. some people need to be given tickets. Problem is can't monitor it all of time.

Close but not quite there here in 4C that was last weekend though.
-
Their triggers suck too but we're assuming you're a good enough shot to deal with it.

My dad has a 7600 30-06 that shoots submoa and I've for a 742 that shoots about 1.5 with most 150gr cheap stuff. Most common accuracy stuff ie seen with them is scope and mounting. Also barrel muzzle and rifling wear. Many used ones I've seen had the muzzle resting down into a truck floor over and over. No recessed crown so the rifling gets messed just a hair which makes big problems. Was is cut and crowned. You can rebarrel them. Hart does them I think.

I've got an HHA dial sight and had clearance issues. Tight spot makes a bracket that goes between your sight and riser. It's like $19. Call up tightspot or find it on eBay.

I get one every year. Even got tabs to find stuff quicker. They've asked me what would be a good idea to send and I've told them to not send that. I still do and will buy from them but I'd rather they donate the money toward a conservation effort and then tell me they did that instead of sending me the special master catalog. I get the master and all kinds of others in soft cover too. Ordering over phone or online is all I ever use. The catalogs are a waste.

How to remove top layer of growth?
dbHunterNY replied to greenecounty's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Spray it then mow then spray again in the fall. It'll break down. Then disc it in the fall. Then frost seed it this spring. Plowing will work but then you'll need to pick the rocks out that you pulled up. Unless you don't have rocks where it is. -
Didn't plant anything this year. Alfalfa fields are good enough unless I get time next year. This is just busy.
-
It is addicting. Good practice. Just keep in mind that you're X spots aren't always in the best real life spot. Keep his in mind come fall.
-
Saw two hens and twenty something poults this weekend. They cross road and came out if ditch right next to my truck.
-
good bear. haven't got a bear yet but not really in the place to get one either.
-
I went once or twice years ago. I remember it being a fun time. a buddy of mine that still lives out that way was probably there.

bring 4 or more arrows. in case you loose any, they get hit, or whatever. bring binoculars with the a sling or strap. if a strap let them hang on your bow arm side with the strap loosened up all the way and across your chest. it'll help you see where the scoring rings are. bring a small set of allen wrenches with you in case something loosens up but you can keep them in your truck. ball cap to keep the sun out of your eyes and bug spray to keep the bugs away. try to practice judging yardage out to 40 yards before then. judging yardage is probably the hardest part.

So sinful it's easiest to make two at one time. Freeze one while you work on eating the other. Lol that recipe comes from an old school country kitchen. Minus the crust they'd make that from scratch.
