  1. Give it a try as long as it hasn't been exposed to extreme temps you should be good. I heard it turns into formaldehyde with exposure to extreme temps and can actually spook deer if it goes bad.. According to somebody in Dicks one time.. Used Tinks last night had a basket buck standing 5 yards in front of my stand staring up at me.. Never heard him come with the wind.. Didn't even spook i think he just really wanted to know where the doe was.. Had it hanging from my ladder haha.. Gonna use antler ice this week and next...
  2. got several new and returned bucks on my cams too... small bucks not together anymore in 8G.. just gotta put some time in the woods is all..
  3. Sounds like the previous landowner got out at the right time.. Gets $ from the land sale and also quick cash for leasing it out.. Unfortunately you don't own it yet and sounds like their lease is still valid until close... Sort of like when my offer was accepted on a house however for the next week or two they kept showing the house and foot traffic on our hardwoods and carpet etc.. But i agree with everyone else.. POS stuff
  4. Finally getting 2 and 3 year old bucks on camera. Saw 3 doe and 1 fork from stand this am.... To be continued tonight
  5. Clothes in the dryer now with earth scent sheets and then earth scent wafers are waiting to go into bins. Then gonna re-apply promethrin
  6. Live from the pines hoping a buck has the same idea i do in this heavy rain.. Had a 3.5 yo 9 pointer I've seen on cam less than 10 yds but couldnt get a shot.. Kicking myself... Interested in following does not my calls
  7. I'm right with ya.. however we handle things differently where i come from... which reminds me of why we here all hunt and respect fair chase... A guy once told me if he ever stopped having a physical/emotional reaction after taking the life of a deer he would stop hunting.. because he would be in it for the wrong reasons........ that resonated with me until this day because i find it very true
  8. Welcome.... and thank you for your military service.... good luck this year.. From Batavia
  9. I would love a 20-30 yd crossbow shot... I'm comfortable out to 40 yds.. after that my bolt drops considerably which is where I would recommending doing most of your practice..
  10. I would not buy a firearm from F&S/Dick's, or any boots, or clothing... but I do get my Antler Ice there as well as my tags.. Last gun I bought was a 700 30-06 from Cabela's... and my xbow is the Sniper 370 made by Crosman in Bloomfield, NY.. take my bow to Hunter's Landing or Traditions Archery for work...

Rifle...... however that swamp might be shotgun only like other state managed areas... I would call or email the local DEC offier for the area..
  12. I have the one that clips to the limb as well.. It's a Mathews brand I got at a local bow shop... has 2 little pouches I can keep things in like wrench, practice tips, etc...only in the morning will I sling it otherwise I hunt my way in during shooting hours..
  13. nice boots thanks for the heads up.. one more accessory to hide from the wife
  14. Both. I hunted with my bow on a ridge in some brush a couple weeks ago and had 3 bucks walk by less than 10 yds.. No shooters. However a couple of my stands i wanna see further away.. If you have the deer patterned then get close on the ground.. During the rut anything can happen so i'll wanna be in a tree.. And climb down to spot and stalk if needed..
  15. Entered this ugly thing into a contest at a party... Haven't carved a pumpkin in about 20 years haha
  16. Back to suburban hunting tonight... Couldn't post this morning because i was surrounded by deer.. Unfortunately no shooters. Magic hour time
  17. Camo head to toe during bow season.. But i bow hunt from the ground at times and spot and stalk regularly.. Gun season anything to stay warm really
  18. Didn't see anything on stand however pulling out of my neighborhood this morning at 6am i almost hit a wallhanger with my Silverado... And then pulling out of the property after my sit i saw a fat and wide 8pt with his nose stuck out harassing a group of does on the neighbors lawn.. So overall not a bad morning and they're definitely seeking in 8H
  19. Congrats to your buddy.. What a beautiful buck... Please let us know what he ends up scoring..
  20. Live from my kitchen hoping someone connects tonight... Gonna hang a new Cabelas cam tonight and hope for snow Sunday.. Tomorrow looks like a tsunami but temps dropping here and pre rut activity will keep bucks moving..
  21. cool pic... think i gotta get me one of those Browning cameras.. all of you guys with Browning cams the pics look great..
  22. Yes but you better be ready to shoot because sometimes they'll come in quick.. 90% of the time it's a young deer like a basket or fork but have your binocs ready too because in my experience more mature deer will circle you and start hitting scrapes, rubs, etc. in the area.. Rattled in a couple forks this year so far
  23. What a buck. 140-145".. Congrats
