Last year was my first year with the xbow.. I feel comfortable out to about 45 yds... My mathews about 30 yds.. The advantage also is not having to draw when it's near freezing outside. I've definitely been busted trying to get my bow back after sitting there frozen for several hours

pretty buck.. 115-120" and 180 lbs live weight.. shoot him!
-
wow.... and the buck behind this one in the first trail cam pic is like 160+ inches

I was born in 87 and can say i dont think I've ever used a pay phone before. Earliest phone remember was the finger spinning one which i don't even think was connected, just kept on the wall for entertaining us mischievous kids

Nice deer. You're right it's a tough call, but I'm going with a thoroughbred of a 2.5 y.o... That's how we grow them in WNY! Lol congrats Moog

Cool.... Couple years ago during bow I had a hay field full of about 15-20 deer about 100-150 yds away, and 1 coyote circling the field.. he was trying to get at the yearlings but the biggest buck in the group kept chasing him out of the field.. Thought that was pretty wild as well
-
You did the right thing it's not even mid October yet plus it sounds like you have multiple bucks cruising already. I haven't seen a buck from a treestand since last year!!
-
Really want to do a midwest whitetail bowhunt/crossbow hunt with couple buddies... Had someone tell me those bucks would be close to 300 lbs and would have to quarter them out in field if you didn't have a wheeler/utv. Crazy..
-
Crazy. Unfortunately you wouldn't see orange in the dark. Poor decision
-
A wet and windy day can let you sneak around pretty well.. I've had success doing it before
-
Yep he's hooked get him a screenname! Congrats
-
Nice.. That tall rack is cool looking

he would be huge if he found a hiding spot and lived another year but that's a shooter in WNY.... good luck
-
85 acres to 4 people.. lots of places for deer to hide.... get an idea of the doe to buck ratio early on... I would consider their age instead of counting points, meaning the forks and baskets all get passes.. cause you could have a 5, 6, 7, 8 point 1.5 year old buck.. unless the freezer is empty then take em out! good luck sounds like a sweet deal
-
shooter buck for sure.. smart buck lol... good luck!!

Sitting in a tree line facing these hardwoods with good wind tonight. Didn't jump anything on the way in which makes me think they're feeding already.. Just waiting on the stragglers now...- 10374 replies

man what an idiot... but if you stay put he might kick something your way. i once had a guy come to the base of my stand asking who i was and who gave me permission etc.., climbed down and everything to chat with this d-bag... climbed back up and 5-10 mins later had a shooter under my stand.. good luck!!!!- 10374 replies

agreed... light drizzle OK however I don't like my mathews in freezing rain... however i did read that deer like to feed on cold/wet veggies, it's a tasty snack to them... and I'm colorblind so I don't need any other disadvantage when it comes to finding blood

Been a few years since I've hunted out of a ground blind, but we have 40 acres with a couple funnels that still need to be covered.. Would a pop up survive the entire bow and gun season in WNY? Any tips on reinforcement from snow and wind?? What brands have you had success with and which to avoid??
-
Looks like rain in Rochester tomorrow. Will sit after work for 2 hrs or so. Good luck all
