Whether you're pro or con Xbows, think everyone can admit it's truly become a political issue and far removed from any hunting or conservation proposed legislation. To anyone that doesn't know this, here's a great example of what's important to our politicians! Read in local Rochester newspaper a NYS bill was passed recently to require sanitary hygiene products for female correction facility inmates. Does this really take a legislative vote &/or how is it such a high priority? This just blew me away..!!! AND... Xbow legislation has been stuck in a "black hole" sub-committee 3 of the past 4yrs...!?!

Strangled a rabid bobcat that attacked her with her bare hands.. Way to go granny!

Holy crap, you still have a 35mm trail cam...!?! Thought those were only seen at the Smithsonian. LOL Had a Cuddeback, circa 2006, I had to voluntarily retire. Highly rated cam from that era, but the damned thing literally ate up the 4X-D batteries.

When I got my 10pt Xbow several years ago, I also ventured into a 2nd unknown with a lot of hesitation... expandable BHs. I went with the expandable the Xbow mfger suggested & sold and haven't had an issue with them since. NAP Spitfire, also use the Maxx version w/o issues. Not a single premature deploying, as far as I know. Spitfires does have the blade replacement system, I just prefer to use them as a one-time-use BH to remove any possible functionality issue. Like most BHs and esp expandables, shots to the shoulder blade don't get good penetration. Other than that, mainly pass-throughts. Certain times of the year they're available for ~$35/4-pk and generally the last few years with a $5 rebate also. Sure there are a lot of other BHs that work well with Xbows. Much like suggesting best mechanical BH for a compound bow, a personal preference & what has worked for the user!

Moog, assuming you've never used a tiller before...? Tillers are made to turn over ground that has already been cultivated in previous years. Tillers don't replace plows! Using a walk-behind tiller on virgin ground, areas with plenty of rocks or tree roots - well, it's a "work out" to say the least and you won't get the results you expected. JMO, I'd be looking to hire someone with a small tractor with a 3pt tiller, bobcat w/tiller attachment or an ATV with a self contained pull behind tiller, at least the first year/pass. Subsequent years, may be able to use a rental tiller to simply churn up the top soil. As you've found out, used tillers are in high demand by gardeners and don't last long when listed. Owning one requires some mechanical aptitude, they take a beating and need repairs, esp a used one that has many hours on it already. Being sarcastic... there's a reason feed corn is popular...

Since I've never seen one in the wild, my inclination is NOT to shoot one. A decision made while sitting on back deck with a brew or in front of my PC... Sitting in the stand and having a piebald of either sex or size walk in front of me, would totally depend on the situation or how that specific deer got my adrenaline pumping!! Might change my initial decision to NOT shoot one....

... regardless of how confusing or ambiguous this sex ID regulation might be, isn't it more so up to the discretion of the ECO? We've all seen/heard of different ECOs enforcing specific regulations in different manners. Intent has a lot to do with how they'll enforce any DEC regulation. Not to mention how you interface with them or even the ECO's mood at the time!!! JMO, there's nothing to be gained by getting into the grey areas of ECO enforcement of a deer's sex ID.

Or maybe a piece of Alum stove pipe cut, formed & attached to cam somehow to form a sort of shroud or hood... The cut-up inner tube idea is interesting, but it'd need to be more of a cam condom than a flap...? FYI - There are sprays available to protect/inhibit the inside electronics from corrosion, but NOT a cure for the case's moisture problem. Do a Google search for... how to protect outdoor use electronics from corrosion.

Haleys first deer rifle

But.. It's not pink camo, is Haley okay with that?? Love these stories about getting youngsters into shooting & hunting!!! Dad of the year award to you! -
Actually it was a steel pie tin painted flat black. Cut a semi-circle in one side & attached an "L" bracket to mount to the tree. Quit using them due to the rain-hat messing with the ambient light and made cam think it was low light conditions. Had to mount so high above cam to allow all light onto the cam, it was pretty much useless for shielding rain. BTW - Have used a lot of Bushnell cams for ~12yrs and not one problem with moisture getting in the interior. Assuming the seal on the Primos cams isn't working very well...!?!

Very cool! In fact ... awesome!! Hard to rate the walking stick among all your other carving artwork masterpieces, but JMO a top 10. Whom ever you gift this to should be pleasantly surprised!

The opening scene from Pvt Ryan with the allied beach assault is still imprinted on my brain. Can not begin to fathom what those brave soldiers were thinking or went through. Most certainly, they get my admiration and greatest appreciation for what the did for the allied efforts!

I'm impressed you constructed & put that blind up by yourself! Very nice s/u!!!

Every parcel of hunting land is different and has distinct characteristics; land area shape, habitat features, travel routes, food sources, intrusions into or on neighboring properties, etc. Deer need food and security. Rather than cater to trying to keep BBs on a property, I always attempted to keep the does around with what ever food or security I could provide within $$ reason. Eventually the boys will come...! W/O a high fence, worrying about what your neighbors shoot is futile and evolkes the "my deer" mentality.

Illegal to possess a whitetail w/o a special NYS permit. Sure you already know this. I'm "on the fence" about nuisance permits, even considering the fact I hunt near farmland and personally know some of those farmers. On one hand, it's a tool farmers can use to protect their crops and livelihood. Conversely, the permit system IMHO is open to a lot of abuse.

This is a rather long winded read, but I have extensive experience with working around and dealing with PI's side effects. Sorry...! Property I had previously owned was abandoned farmland, which was overgrown with multi-flower rose and poison ivy. Damned PI was so well established some vines were growing up the trees with bases that were ~5-6" thick and grew across neighboring tree tops. And you only thought it was a ground plant...!??! You can spray to control it, but generally requires an $$ brush type of weed killer. Since it grows as a underground runner root system, it almost always comes back from these controlled sprayings. Mowing keeps it in check, but to completely remove it is a very labor & time intense operation tilling up the root systems, numerous times. Not very feasible out in the woods..! Here's the problem with poison ivy... the (urushiol) oil from the plant that causes the skin irritations is invisible. It gets on shovels. clippers, shoes/boots, pant legs, and even the gloves worn while working around it. Think about this next time you un-tie your boots after walking thru PI, even rubber boots have the oil on them. I get a couple of mild cases of PI irritation on my inner wrists each year from putting on/taking off the leather gloves I wear to help protect me from it. Think about this while working and swatting mosquitoes or black flies while wearing your work gloves..! As much as you like to take Fido out with you, they'll get covered with the oil too and spread it around the house and your hands if you pet him'her after these outdoors exposures. Oh yeah, do yourself a favor and soak/rinse your chainsaw chains w/gasoline before taking them somewhere to be resharpened. Trust me, if you don't you'll get cursed or asked NOT to return....! Not sure exactly, but there's a timeframe for the exposure to begin it's irritation process. So when you get home or finished, wash your hands/arms with Dawn dish soap and use only cold water. Warm/hot water opens the pores on your skin and the scrubbing will force the oil into your skin. As crazy as it sounds, it is logical & really works! I've also used a gas soaked rag to clean-up with if I couldn't wash-up within a reasonable time. Gasoline does come with its' own skin irritation issues...! Pink calamine lotion will dry up mild, small areas of irritation. No clue why, but the clear calamine does NOT work as well. Have tried the very expensive OTC lotions/soaps and found they don't work exponentially better considering their $$. More extreme or larger areas of PI irritation almost always requires a visit to your Dr & prescribed steroids, Prednisone. Neither remedy is an overnight relief, it takes time to clear-up! Easy for me to say, but try not to itch the infected areas...!

^^^ this is not the typical case. Generally you become more prone to PI's effects. Never heard of building an immunity to it, but wish I had..!

Helping out an elderly farmer with his 2X hay balling sessions one summer while still in HS. Anyone that had done this years ago knows each square bale had to be man-handled 3X from lying in the field to stacked in the loft. Did get a better appreciation for farming and doing better in the classroom.

My kind of thread... Some of my favorite & greatest guitarist mentioned so far!!! Interesting to know some of them are so "down to earth". A lot of them stay up on the pedestal the fans put them on and adopt the matching attitude.

Oh yeah, use to have 8X cams running on previously owned 60ac property. Had to put an aerial or GPS map on cork board or sheet metal with cam locations noted with pins/magnets. Was very helpful at 1st when I was moving cams around every few weeks to find travel routes. sweet spots, etc. Us old farts need all the memory help we can get!

This dude has a very neat range s/u with metal gongs, spinners, silhouettes, etc. Also does a lot of handgun reviews.

Wouldn't you rather find out if there's a difference at the range...? At least for me, after spending countless days sitting in a tree waiting for that possible one-time opportunity at the deer of my choice, I want complete confidence in my gun, bow, ammo, arrows, etc. FYI - I saw about a 5" difference @80yrds between 2X different brands in 130 & 150gr ammo in a 270 rifle. My initial assumption was like yours.. how much difference would there possibly be??? Well, enough to matter!!!!

His greatest asset is his running & scrambling ability. He did refuse to run the 40 in both evaluation sessions, so many teams were put-off by this. He is dubbed the 1st round "steal" by most sports analysis. And his manager/agent is his mom.... I don't see it as a bad thing, but most teams did.

Okay, for whatever reason the Bill's Mgmt had to pick Allen, fans have to go with their decision. My issue is the Bills upper mgmt, from coach, his assistants, to GM and owner haven't proven they have a viable QB mentoring process in place! Lets hope that changes. Same scenario for the poor Brown's fans & their new #1 QB draftee......
