What a train wreck.

Theres a flintknapping get together out south of you every year supposed to be pretty good hands on help. I have an Uncle that was teaching a college course in knapping in Ohio for many years and writes for a bunch of magazines. I have some cool items he has given me over the years. Makes knapped obsidian surgical instruments for an eye doctor as a side gig. I like to tinker with metal working a bit, make a few knives as of late, do some maple syrup, have raised beef/cow/calf pairs/ pigs/goats/ chickens. Fish a bit here and there. Hunting and related keeps me busy.

LOL.....wasn't my intent...... I thought a sharp eye might spot the steering wheel on the double cab on the right side! LOL Hell of a time trying to shift a 6 speed with my left hand first couple hours. I like my Focus ; engine runs great and the mileage ain't to shabby either.
-
2013 Ford Ranger rental trucks in 2 cab styles pictured in 2014. I'll let you google the location.LOL I have no idea why it has taken so long to re enter the smaller market for Ford, even with different engine/drive-train the chassis engineering has been done for years; and the engines overseas blow anything we get offered away for power/torque.

Have a manual and never even drove an auto so have no idea. I know they did frame replacements on previous gen 2's, there are stacks of new frames behind the dealers. I had something like 9 recalls on a Ford I put 297,000 miles on; most I didn't even have done. So they all have issues at times. I looked at a used Dodge that had all 4 corners rebuilt twice @32,000 miles ....all of it from bearings out (new hubs, calipers, pads, bearings, tires, the works)..... only time a dealer has ever started dropping price by multiple thousands as I sat there; already had 2 owners. I'm not brand loyal either but have had more Fords.....I drove one of those new Rangers for a week before they were even mentioned coming to American market, they have been offed overseas for some time now (that was 2014). I would have liked to have waited to look at the US version but couldn't as my prior work vehicle started dying quicker then expected last year. I haven't looked at pricing, but would have considered it......I was surprised to get a discount off the Toyota, on line said the model was going for list or even premium in some markets(!). I threw a number out and they accepted, Chevy guy called 2 days after I sat with him and he lost his sale.

Oh dear.... I am beginning to think the Bills Super Bowl tickets I bought off E-bay are fakes. Damn.

I drive things til they are scrap typically. But even a beat tacoma is worth something. Tacomas starting with 2016 are what are termed Generation 3. They have had a few issues with auto transmissions for gen 3's, mostly having to do with shift timing. So if buying, just make sure they go through any TSB's that apply and get it up to date.

SR is Toyota's entry level. I have a 2017. SR 4x4, 4 cyl, 5 speed. Access cab If I was towing over 4K I think I'd want a 6 cyl. I tow around 3- 3.5K max and it does OK. Much of the SR trim interior has to do with digital dash and radio/navigation etc. being available in higher trims. And exterior in trim details and wheels moving up to SR5. I have steel rims (they actually get the best mileage too with lightest tire combo) My SR also has rear jump seat delete that kept price in low $20's.....but 2018 changed SR trims and not sure what they have/have not. I looked at Colorado but resale and deal on Toyota was a better overall deal for me.

I filled a lot of those tags back in the 90's, sounds like fun and good learning experience on dressing out game on her own. Good luck.

Easiest first, yes you can dye a parge mix. Need to do a careful measured mix to be consistent, that includes dampness of mason sand being used. Doing up to natural changes in foundation will help that, ie from corner to front steps or corner to a window hiding next batch line under the window. Yes I would spall off all the old surface, judging by pics it'll come off in sheets. Scratching up block won't hurt it and will give fresh surface. Wash and apply bonding agent. Adding stone... Real or cultured? Cultured is thin and light. I would say much easier for home owner type installation. Do a good job on prep and yes, you could add later. Now if the substrate block has issues, soft, cracked structurally , yes I would most likely add mesh. Corners are expensive, but stupid easy. Real stone? Need to add ledger, steel with appropriate fasteners. I'd feel better with mesh fastened to wall for a home owner job. Does it need it, not if working correct; but this is why I almost always regret answering these threads; I must be bored tonight. All kinds of skill levels out there and opinions. My brother the engineer thinks I don't know shit after 30 years of custom home building any dummy can do it; the chimney he flashed on his roof leaks, the one I did? Not so much(my SIL told me this, LOL) There a bunch of work in real stone corners depending on pattern to make it look decent. Shitty is always easy and quick. Either case a decent flashing detail or cap has to be thought of at top edge where you meet the bottom log. I don't like relying on caulk for that, the surface is too wide and full of potential fissures, so I'd be inclined to come up with a copper flashing with some pitch detail or a stone cap but lots on linear inches to deal with there and you pay by the inch for rocking/flaming edges.
-
Just a suggestion; If you re parge after removing the old stuff; seal the top edge where it meets the plate with an elastomeric caulk like Sika Flex or similar. Water intrusion is a problem there, and will get behind the new surface, freeze, and expand. Quality material will result is a longer lasting job. Renting a demo hammer and a wide blade chisel often called a "scaling chisel" makes short work of prepping a fresh surface.

Go to a real masonry supply and you can get additives that will help with bonding. Also mason sand that box stores sell is crap with poorly screened material.

Client I worked for knew him from back when he was with Sitka and I met him briefly when he was in town on a layover. The father of this client is mega wealthy investment guy in NYC and I think there was financial dealings there. Shame, seemed like nice enough guy. Edit; heres a nice article about Kuiu and his concept of direct sell... https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/281393

Polypropylene is what you want. Any plastics supplier can sell you sheet goods. Want to save money, buy thin like 1/4" and laminate it it to some plywood. Don't know where you travel, but across the Hudson in W. Nyack is where I buy materials at Plasic-Craft, good folks.
-
If you get more interested in NH, also look up "Pemi Loop" hike (8 peaks over 4K). Its a circuit so parking is a bit easier and don't need a ride or spot a car like a Presi Traverse.

Pics would help, scope info too. How long is a piece of string? Here's a 85' LH BDL Blued w/ sights that is in great shape for comparison.... https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/rifles/remington-rifles-700/remington-700-lh-bdl-270-exc-cond-.cfm?gun_id=101085993 There's usually some wiggle room. Good seller too, never has junk (done business with him several times).

Used a certified scale to weigh deer when coming in to be butchered at a place I was helping out. Lots of long faces when the 200lb deer shrank to 150 or 160 after a long drag.

That boat stuff looks great. Got a scuff and going to try this. Kids lucky, act like an ass and you never know who you are dealing with, could have ended up bad for him but he ran into a nice guy this time.

Dicks sporting goods/field and stream
Dinsdale replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in General Chit Chat
The difference to me is that if you shop at Wal Mart and they don't want to sell black rifles or rifles at all; thats a market position based on liability and social repercussions. Fair enough, their choice, and that of the consumer. Dicks CEO is actively supporting and getting involved with lobbyists who's end game is not just AR platforms. Shopping their supports the bottom line of the CEO's and BOD's decisions. On the other end there is not one Chinese made product sold there that can't be beat on price with a little internet shopping and free shipping. So I see that as hollow argument. Anyone thats feels insulted can, as always, freely use the ignore feature here, they are most welcomed.
