I think it's more important to notice, that it's another Wildgame cam that works.

Just back from camp. Here are a few picts.

Horse deer up top, nice! Can just imagine processing a fresh loin of that one. -
Clover plot started to look crispy but it's comming back now. Most of the expanding I did for it didn't fair so well but it was dry as heck. The soy is now also making an attempt. It's got a pea - milo mix but I again because of the rough summer I see mostly soy and some peas. Not sure what to make of it but it's about 6". Quite frankly since there's no farms near by I'm not sure if the deer know what to make of it either. The chicory burnt out. Both attempts. Kinda pissed about that. Granted it was a new plot from spring time so the soil was light. But it dried out. Last weekend I wacked that plot down to the ground, handfull of plants mostly weeds. Recent weather has gotten some moisture back. The plan is to overseed winter rye/peas mix into it over labor day weekend.

Kill da wabbits .. Kill Da Wabbits! Sorry, flashback. My lease is surrounded by, nothing. Well a swamp and more woods, no farms to speak of. My neigbor does not plot, trying to encourge it. Sure it takes alot of hours doing plots even if the total is under an acre. But it's what we can do. When the cam shows a doe & her fawns in the clover, or a group of juvenile bucks months before the season, then later (I think) mostly the same deer growing it's cool to know I had a hand in that. I guess my point is if I take adeer or two off the place it stands to reason as a steward of the property I should help the local herd out and give something back.

Fantail replied to burmjohn's topic in Deer Hunting
The system seems to be up and running again. Even got a dmp for 7M denied 7R. First time in years not getting a tag for 7R, that's alright, first time in years I got one for 7M! My old stomping grounds. -

Appriciate you sharring the apple tree info. They look great for being only a few years growing! Do you run into any Japanese Bettle or tent catipilar problems? -
How well do you think the soybeans will come back next year? Having a similar issue with a soy/peas/milo mix.
-
Good reason enought to wait till next week.

Prep & practice time is underway. No need to panic. Temps are about right to get jazz done, one weekend at a time.

Clearing Land? Tips Tricks Anything?
Fantail replied to burmjohn's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
My tiller and I, are familiar with the rocks. I was scouting a back 1/4 of the property just the other day and couldn't help but realise the potential of a new spot or two along with good stand trees. And acre or two. What about having some logging done for clearing? -
Ever notice that out all night look in a deers eye

I treat my camp like my 2nd home. Love it up there, good time of year to get jazz done.

Horse doe & a few Turkeys & poults. I'm thrilled to see the birds in 6k. -
Hey Bill that sounds like a good time no matter what. Good luck. I like to take about two weeks at camp when Bow season starts up. Hunt up a storm, camp up, live, eat & sleep like a king. Love it.
-
You can keep water for quite a while in food grade containers. Much longer then a week.
-
Always liked how Deer & Turkey can cohabitate.

Welcome to the addiction critter. Well you didn't say where you got your bow but at the risk of repeating info make sure you get it set up for your draw length and comfortable poundage. Have your arrows cut & set up to the right length & weight for your set-up. Get used to practicing with a few shots when you can, don't wear yourself down. Your arm & back muscles will adjust in time. personaly I wouldn't worry about lighted nocs or what your favorite head might be untill you know your Bow. Btw if your undecided on a head when it's time to buy them, a good fixed blade is usually reliable. Last year I had the opertunity to use a different head on three different hunts. On each kill got a pass through and good track. Two were coc heads the other a chizel point. Yes I have my favorite but thats me and my bow not yours. Good luck.

Bow 20ga 12ga .243 .270 I don't want to jinks myself but I can honestly say I never hit a deer with a car. Very close a few times. Wouldn't have minded so much if it happened when I owned a ford aerostar. About all that pos would have been good for.

Thats why I don't go shopping unless I haven't showered for days.

No wooting here (6k) as of yet. Clover plot - wilted Chicory plot - crispy - replanted clover/chicory - still crispy Soy/beans 1/2 is up but not growing like it should and it's starting to wilt. I dug 2 x 2' post holes at camp and the dirt 2' down was as dry as the top.
