Looking good from here.

So do you always do video's of your video's?

True words. I shoot @ 55#. Last year had my best archery season yet. I've been at it seriously for about 5 years now. Had I known what I know now 5 or so more years before then, oh man. Well as they say you can't turn back time. Best of luck. One thing I would say that has boosted shot confidence is a 3-D target. And practice time in the back-yard.

Airborne & done Good shooting. Now I can't wait for October again.

Just a heads up I was in Walmart the other day in sporting goods they seem to be selling Sawyers clothing treatment spray. -
Just a thought & I've done this; if you know of any wild apple trees where you hunt state land, kill off any tent catipillar nests, get a long dead stick - it seriously helps. Want to do more - spike the drip zone on the same tree.

Quite possibly. Look for Turkey scatt in the same area.

100gr. Sierra gameking sp. 7pnt State land. 40-50 yard blood trail. Any questions? Geeze, once or twice a year someone asks an honest question about the 243 and deer hunting. Couple of clowns always chme in about what they think it can't do or what they would use instead. Realy... See you next year.

If I was only going to take two decoys, a jake - intruder jake & feeding hen would be it. Make sure the jake is in your better line of fire. Typicaly the Tom will go up to kick, fan up a time or two, when he turns and blocks his own line of sight to you is when it's pucker time.

Slammin` Good Hunting.

6k report; I'm stoked! Was up to camp setting up a cam & had a mouth call with me, decided to see if anything was out there. I did a few short yelps and two gobblers fired right back - 60 yards out! There I am standing there thinking 'holy &}{%#' - I quick set the cam, hit the sides with scent away, grabbed the rake and quietly as I could snuck outta there. Rake was left there by the plot from last time, anyhow when I got about 50 yards away I hit the call again and the birds fired back up. How am I going to sleep tonight and still got a week to go

Anyone counting down the days till May 1st ?
Fantail replied to HopkintonHunter's topic in Turkey Hunting
Less then 2 weeks now Lookin forward to some Turkey - camping - & a little time off. For anyone participating - calling for youth opener - to luck! -
Reminds me of a split lease in Wayne Co. Took out lots of possums among other critters w the 22mag, Turkeys seemed to rebound a bit.
-
I agree it seems early. Well it isn't isolated. Last weekend at camp (6k) while looking about the property in three different spots I saw fresh deer droppings, & right next to each pile another pile of tiny droppings. If I needed another reason to buy a game cam, that was it.

"where's that guy with the 1300?"

Big birds. When I venture by the swamp at camp I get a glance of one now and then.

I generaly toss used mouth calls after the season is over.

Hope this isn't off-topic but my club pathfinderfishandgame.com is hosting a 4th annual Youth Hunt jamboree on the 14th. you can d/l the flyer. youth hunters can learn about turkeys, instruction, even pattern their gun. Club is in Fulton NY but if you have a young hunter near the CNY area it's a good event 9am - 3pm. Ages 11-17 welcome.

When your daughters date arrives, you can somehow be in the middle of cleaning your guns, this is quite effective. You can discuss things like knowing how to dispose of a carcass, how you helped her improve her groups at 200 yards.

Be prepaired .. just sayin`

Started Tilling Food Plots
Fantail replied to Pav2704's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Took that advice and did that. Clover plot size will be about 1/3 acre (I think), I raked it out scratching the dirt, put down 40lb of 8-8-8 & 1/2 acre bag of antler king clover. Avg ph is 6. Should have some light rain next 3 days. -
Good thing its not bow season... Managed to do this to my hand

Nice visual reminder for life! Just like a scar by the wrist from stabbing myself in the arm, all because of a camera.
