Years ago I would give them away to trapping buddies, now that the fur isn’t worth anything I leave them. Can’t afford to mount everyone Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My camp is 11 miles back on unmaintained roads the first 4 things that go in or that I make sure are still in my truck before heading up is #1 tow strap #2 chain saw “probably not too important for you on maintained roads” #3 tire chains #4 a shovel My trucks are both 4wd and both have good off-road tires on them. If it’s snowing I’m way more worried about the drive up than I am the drive in just last week on my way up I hit some terrible roads above weaver town and almost ended up in the guard rail and I was doing 25mph. Most of my driving around is early morning before the roads are clear if I’m hunting away from camp and have driving through a foot of snow on paved roads. If the roads are like that you should just turn around and go home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That’s exactly why I use these, they’re a fiber optic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have only used it once when shooting a deer and it was a stupid log shot in a wounded buck. I use it like a regular single pin from 0-40. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Why cell service so bad in Adirondacks?
Buckmaster7600 replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
That’s why I said NEAR the city and not in, I’ve Been out west as well cell service is nonexistent in Montana and Colorado in the mountains where I was. Have fun doing what you want but a kindergartner could figure out why cell service sucks in the Dacks, if you don’t like it don’t do it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I have a few of these on shotguns and a pistol and love them. No batteries to go bad and are absolutely bullet proof. Used them in the marine corps and never seen or heard of one breaking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This is comical to me, number 1 there are many places that have reception in the dacks. Number two, this fella goes hunting one time and now he wants cell towers. Last year you were complaining about leases not allowing access to the public and wanting more roads now you want cell towers. Give me a break. You obviously need to stay down near the city where you stay safe I don’t think we want your type up here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I love having to drive to town to get signal, gives me a reason to buy more beer and stop at the bar for a drink or two to help the local economy. If I get hurt while hunting oh wel can’t think of nowhere else I’d rather go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Another thing on the speed I go when still hunting depends on the time of day. That few hours on either side of of dark I generally go faster because the deer are on their feet moving around and are generally distracted. The mid day lul is when I go the slowest. The rut is the exception. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Who wears head to toe camo when hunting? If you do do you think it helps? I rarely have camp on if I do it’s pants because that’s what I have sprayer with sawyers. Usually just a flannel shirt or sweatshirt on top. The only exception to this is turkey hunting when I always have a camo shirt on. What made me think of this is I was watching a hunting show last night and they were out west after mule deer And the hunter was head to toe camo and the guide had jeans a flannel shirt and white cowboy hat on. I have to imagine that a guide that does it for months straight thought that camo would help his hunters kill more critters he would be wearing it. I think the average hunter wears more camo to Walmart than I do in the woods. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One thing I do if I’m short on time or property is if I jump deer and they run, I’ll run parallel to them for 10-15 seconds or until I don’t hear them running. This gains ground back quick and one they stop and look back for you “they always do” you’re not where they expect you. If you jump deer and start right back after then from where you jumped the. You’ll bust them again and never get close enough to see them, they know where you were and where you’ll be coming from. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Where would you look for deer on this map ?
Buckmaster7600 replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
If I was approaching from the X I would work that funnel between the two ponds and then decide between 2and 3 depending on what I felt that day. I never go at these things with a plan I just go by what I feel when I get there. My old man Is who I learned to hunt big woods from and he always told me he decided where to be from feeling a draw on his nuts. I don’t know if I feel a draw on my nuts yet but I definitely have something working that tells me where to go and I have learned to trust it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I still hunt 99% of the time. I don’t care about wind direction, move slow and pause longer when it’s crunchy, when it’s wet and/or windy I almost never pause just keep a steady Slow pace. If I jump a deer I want to kill and don’t get a shot I try to stay on them and catch up as soon as possible. People think if you jump a deer they’re gone to the next county and that is not true usually not more than 100yds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is a shotgun really cheaper? If you take the versatility of loads out of the equation because let’s face it 90% of deer hunters don’t hunt small game. A shotguns really not cheaper excluding the cheap Chinese clones that I wouldn’t consider owning or recommending to anyone starting out. This is a scoped rifle package ready to hunt by it and a box of ammo and you’re ready to hunt after a few rounds at the range. Here’s the same shotgun as what’s in the video, slightly more money than the scoped rifle package but this is with no scope and just a bead sight. Not saying deer can’t be killed with it but I would venture a guess to say a new hunter has a much higher success rate with that scoped rifle than they do a shotty with just a bead. Not only that what is a cheap box of slugs cost these days 6$ a box for 5 sheds 1.20$ a shell. You can always find Winchester white box or core-lokts for 15-16 bucks, .80$ a round Insignificant for the average guy that only shoots 5 rounds a year but if we’re talking cheap that’s a dollar savings every year. So for less money, less recoil, better range, better accuracy, easier shooting someone can spend less money and have a scoped rifle instead of a shotgun. Sounds like a no brainer to me!
