  1. A can of chew! I can get by being cold and wet and I have killed deer without my range finder hell I even finished a deer of once shooting fingers because I lost my release while tracking. For me nothing makes a sit more miserable than no tobacco. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I wouldn't draw it back! I have witnessed strings breaking and it's not fun at all! I wouldn't be afraid to have it in my house as I have never heard of one breaking when it wasn't being drawn but probably not a bad idea either. I have a to say that you are the first person I have ever heard of that tuned a bow in the woods during season. I would love to know how you managed that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. It's hard it's frustrating but boy is it rewarding! I have been successful a few times and failed 100's. It's my favorite way to hunt. Conditions are just as important as your skills. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Having hunted down south when I was stationed there I will tell you they are not all internet tails! South Carolina you could kill 2 bucks a day without tags and you could buy unlimited doe tags season starts aug 15 and runs until jan2 you can't kill a does until after sept 1. These laws may have changed now I was down there 5 years ago. I know guys down there that shoot over 50 deer a year. Yes they bait "it's legal" they also run dogs "think rabbit hunting", they have a ton of deer and a big doe only weighs 60lbs. Add those up and guys with good spots to hunt and a lot of time and they can kill a ton of deer. My best year down there was 24 but I worked a full time job and didn't have the best property and hunted on the military bases. I did kill 6 does in 1 night that year and 4 of them were all in the same group. I hated hunting down there because the weather and conditions are terrible but it can be a regular shooting gallery. To truly understand the quantity of deer that are killed down there you have to go to a butcher shop on any given Saturday throughout the season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I just wanted to add an extra like! For those who say there is no reason for a scope under 100yds I'll say this. There is no reason not to have a scope under a 100yds and I could make a long list of reasons a scope is better for under 100yds. As for see through mounts they are a solution to a problem that never existed. They don't provide proper stock weld while using the scope and make it very hard to focus on sights while looking through the tunnel. They also ruin your peripheral vision because of the tunnel. This total ruins the argument for having irons for fast shots because when fast shots happen you have to pick your hole before the deer is in it. Thankfully there are many options for all of us to use but for those who have never tried a quality fixed 2.5x20 or a 1-4x20 scope for close up woods work I highly recommend it! 6. I have shot a ton of coyotes and only 1 over 50lbs, he was 52 and huge! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. There isn't a time or a place where iron sights are faster or more precise than a low power scope. The military spent a few million dollars studying this in the early 2000's. The only time that sights could be better is foul weather. For me it's a 1-5 scope over iron sights. I hate high power scopes and only own 1 that is 9x and a couple 7x's every thing else is 1-4,5,or 6x Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. My carbine 06's shoot about 2700fps as well with my Barnes 165's and at 300yds I'm about 9" low with a 100 yd zero. With your 150's I would say you would be in the 6-7" low range with the 100yd zero. On a side note there is no such thing as a waste of ammo! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Your silhouette is one of r most important parts. If they can get your outline your in trouble! Make sure you have something behind you as well as In Front the best way I have found to do this is lean pine branches into the front and back of them. You loose some shooting but it makes it way harder for a deer to pick up your outline. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. It's just sad! Everything changes but I hate to even look at the crap that company puts out today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I have the 2220 although I rarely use it because it's big. It is a nice pack and very well built. I would buy it again for sure. I had a badlands before and it was way too loud for me the tenzing is very quiet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Awesome bow and congrats! My wife and I are coming up on our 10year anniversary and have been together for 15 when we were young and broke we had joint checking accounts and fought about it constantly luckily we learned quickly that we weren't meant to have joint checking accounts. Now we both have good jobs and are financially doing very well for a 30year old married couple. As long as I put X amount into savings and investments monthly she really doesn't care what I do with my blow money. I don't really ask permission but I still run purchases buy her. 13. I don't know of any up there but I can almost guarantee that the folks at hoss's store in long lake would know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. That is one of the greatest wheelers ever built! My dad gave me one for my 10th birthday and I still have it "I'm 30." It has never let me down once. I replaced cv joints and axel seals about 10years ago that's the only thing that has ever went on it. I bought a new foreman this year with manual shift and power steering it's a good machine as well but still 30years to early to judge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I glued some camo netting to the top of mine and it hangs of the edge a few inches to break up the outline and it made the rain drops not as loud. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. About 10 years ago I shot a doe opening day and 10 minutes later a big 8 stepped out and as I was drawing he ran 60yds out into the field to where she laid dead then ran back into the woods. Now I only shoot a doe after my buck tag is filled. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Good luck bud! I have chewed for 15 years I quit the day I got out of the service. I put it in when I passed the gate of Camp Lejeune. For the last 3 years I only chew during hunting season at the end of season I just stop . Stopping has never bothered me but there is no way I could sit in a stand without a chew in. You just have to tell yourself no. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. first buck of the year I let walk came out 5yds from me and I'm only 5ft high in this stand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I have killed my biggest turkey ever and 2 of my top 5 bucks in the rain, the turkey and 1 of the bucks were in torrential monsoon sideways rain the other buck was a heavy cold drizzle. The buck I shot in the monsoon I killed in his bed with a 15yd shot the turkey I belly crawled 300 yds and shot him at 10ft "funny story" and the other buck I was in a stand and he was chasing a spike and ran right under me I had to yell to get him to stop. Did I mention that I LOVE hunting in the rain Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Every time I have found a stand on my land I have cut the tree down and made sure it fell on the stand. If I find one in an oak the stand will be mine and I will give it to someone who needs one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. With a bow I won't hunt in more than a drizzle with a gun the harder the better! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Last night of work for 2 weeks tonight heading to camp in the morning Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Just Copenhagen straight spit in a semi circle to my front. This time of year you should already know where they're going and what they're eating so you shouldn't need to lure them away from their patterns. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Our season starts tomorrow and I'll be scouting tonight. Honestly I put very little into hunting early season and just enjoy spending time in the woods. All my stands that I will hunt are very low impact other than a few small parcels I have to hunt. That being said if I only had 1 spot to hunt I wouldn't be scouting it. Having a bunch of places where I decide to scout tonight could be 20 miles from the farm I'm hunting in the morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. It's the same diameter as your muzzleloader. Just a little heavier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
