  1. Thanks for the memories Eddie. I spent a lot of years in music studios: always stressful and contentious with a bunch of money at stake, but always a heck of a lot of fun when we'd just play and make the stuff we were there to make. I miss it a lot.
  2. Okay this is getting ridiculous. It's a light snow but it just keeps coming down. I'm going to have to plow so that I can run for more food and beer tomorrow. Oh the humanity. I talked to a couple of friends in Florida and Arizona, but apparently if you're under sixty years old you can't join the club. Two years to go!! I'll stay here and fight it out anyway.
  3. Just did a couple of firewood runs to the back yard with a plastic kid's sled. The only thing worse than digging firewood out of snow drifts is paying a utility company to heat your house.
  4. I came here specifically to post a local update on that thread. What's up? Did another Mod fall asleep on their keyboard again and push the wrong buttons? (Sorry guys, and thank you for your service) Anyhow, there is about ten inches out there now with no wind. I'll fire up the Kubota soon and bring a bucket of firewood to the house just for something to do.
  5. It's an old joke, but I'll explain it. People across the country have picked on Buffalo for years because it's known for its cold and snowy winters. Canada is almost entirely north of Buffalo.
  6. Scott little goose. I've tried others over the last 40 years, but I remain committed and always return to what works.
  7. The Canadians are complete fools when it comes to illegal aliens. They see the migrant influx as necessary in order to prop up their Socialist Ponzi scheme. The only real reason they haven't yet been completely over-run is the climate. It's an entire country situated NORTH of Buffalo.
  8. I wish you all the best greg54!
  9. Government never does anything well. What's sad is that they don't realize that fact. "There was a point in time in the last couple of years that I was having to hire more lawyers to try to intercept these new regulations than I was hiring...engineers. that doesn't make any sense." Mario Longhi, CEO of U.S. Steel speaking to President Trump in January 2016.
  10. I'll probably die of old age before I run out of lead-based ammunition, mainly because I enjoy reloading almost as much as I enjoy hunting. It's not hard for me to avoid Federal lands. My concern with these kinds of Federal regulations is that they encourage the anti-hunting/anti-gun people, and the anti-gun States, to pursue their agenda(s). Politicians have twisted this around and see it as a free pass to eventually undermine the protections of the 2nd amendment simply because "the Federal government did it first". It's the camel's nose in the tent. What many don't seem to understand is the degree to which the ideas of 'conservation' and 'wildlife support' have been completely co-opted for what I and others consider the nefarious purpose of pushing a Marxist/Socialist agenda within the U.S.
  11. Seneca Lake has been downright weird this morning. It's pretty calm along the west shore and the flow seems to be southward. 200 to 300 yards out it appears to be moving northward, another couple hundred yards and it looks to be southward again, and a mile out (about half way across) there are whitecaps and it's definitely moving northward. I wouldn't want to be out there in a small boat today. Pay attention to what Larry is saying with regard to 'backfeeding' house electrical systems. There is no safe way to do it without a transfer switch. It's not just first-responders who are at risk, but also your neighbors. Not cool!
  12. The Obama EO was not done to protect wildlife. It was done to appease anti-gun people. A ban on National lands would lead to State lands which would lead to private lands which would lead to the simple fact that I could be arrested for owning my ammunition. Make all the arguments you want about conservation, but that has nothing whatsoever to do with what Obama put in place.
  13. I have a weather station with a satellite-based clock that currently says 10:06. My cellphone says 10:07. My desktop computer says 10:14, but my bedside clock says 10:08. The garbage-picked kitchen clock with a battery says roughly 10:10, (there are no numbers on it). I don't know which one is 'right', but my technical interpretation is that it's a bit after 10:00 AM. I've never been a precise clock guy.
  14. I hope someone can help ya out with this Larry. The best I can do is, "Did you check for sediment in the fuel filter?"
  15. I'm saying I don't harbor your hostility toward American 'corporations'. Or your apparent love for government involvement. The airline industry is going to do everything in it's power to make air travel both safe and affordable because it's in their best interest to do so. The meddling by the federal government doesn't actually help anyone except the regulatory bureaucracies.
  16. I have nothing against the idea of electrically-powered passenger vehicles, and I'm sure they are somewhere on the horizon as a viable alternative. And I'm actually a fan of Elon Musk's SpaceX program. I just don't think it's the federal government's place to be funding these projects with taxpayer dollars.
  17. I don't care what Rosie looks like. One of my closest friends could be her twin and often goes to parties and does decent imitations just for laughs. It's the ugliness deep inside of Rosie O'Donnell that's disgusting.
  18. It's not a stupid answer at all. You've cherry-picked that part of the answer you don't like. President Trump is working to roll back the very idea that Federal Regulation Of Everything is a sensible way for our country to operate. It's not. The free market will work this whole 'airline passenger' issue out when given a chance because most American consumers don't need to be 'protected' when they have a brain, a voice, and a variety of options. Get yer boot off my neck!
  19. I've had two really good belly laughs today, and thank you airedale for that!!!
  20. This is going to be a very strange confrontation in the near future. The only way that electric vehicles will be widely accepted by the American people is if the price of electricity is reduced. And the only way the price of electricity is going down is if the coal plants, natural gas (from fracking) plants, or the dreaded 'Nuke' plants are allowed to prosper and produce the electricity needed for the cars that are meant to save the planet by not relying on the fossil fuels that will be necessary to make those cars viable and attractive to the American market that is trying to get away from the fossil fuels that are necessary to run cars in the first place. ;-] Get it?
  21. It's manifested in the reactions of their supporters when confronted with someone wearing a MAGA hat. Grab the hat off the guy's head and burn it. Then beat the guy who was wearing it. No discussion, no civil discourse, simply attack the thing that you disagree with. I hope the young ones outgrow it, but in the case of Pelosi, Schumer, et al, I don't I don't see that happening.
