  1. Excellent rifle, bought my father one in 7mm R.E.M. for this years moose hunt. Shoots excellent
  2. I assume your mostly deer hunting in NY ..in that case I would sick with 8x for its wider field of view.
  3. I mean the guy has been endorsed and lobbied for by the two biggest public land advocacy groups we have. The Theodore Roosevelt partnership foundation and backcountry hunters and anglers. Except for Governor Mead we probably couldn't hope for a more pro public land access republican to be nominated for the secretary of the interior.
  4. The off season is a good time to contact some land owners ...
  5. I tip my mail lady, and also the regular UPS and FedEx driver, my garbage pick up guy gets a tip as well....sue me.
  6. Again your ignorance in the matter is limitless. State transfer will equal unlimited drilling and wholesale sale of public lands as the lands can not fund be managed by the states. They have already sold off the majority in their control. Read up on the topic. Zinke is endorsed and been lobby for almost all the anti transfer pro public access. This is a huge win for sportsmen.
  7. Your way off base. Zinke is endorsed by both BHA and Theodore Roosevelt partnership foundation. Except for MEad you'd couldn't get a better choice for Secretary of the interior. Zinke has been anti state transfer since the start.
  8. Condolences to you and yours. Celebrate his memory of life lived well.
  9. I saw a pair of big foots crossing a road in Columbia county NY. It's was was the same week as my mountain lion sighting.
  10. The biggest issue is having a consistent level of humidity...other that that it's pretty simple.
  11. Best Elk, moose is a very close second. Worst was a coastal bear. It was not eatable ....
  12. Great buck.... I say about 46 as side, plus your spread so about 110 ish
  13. Lighten up Francis. ......
  14. Far from over for me. Two more weeks of hunting coming my way!! Bowhunted two states and one province. Didn't hunt NY once this year and never missed it. Looking forward to Christmas with my family then it's time for a long desert mule deer hunt.
  15. With all due respect it doesn't explain it. The tags only become Antlerless at end of the season, so during the secondary seasons archery and muzzleloader. The primary rut is over. Regardless of the ratio. if you killing does A percentage of those does are bred. Please tell me how that is in line with an area that has no DMP allocations because the unit is below its target deer take and capacity?
  16. How is that not perpetuating the status quo? If you have a doe population of twenty. Let's go by your logic that only half are bred because of the lack of bucks. You kill 20% of the does on un allocated tags. Half of them are bred and half aren't. You just reduced the potential fawn crop by 20%. Seems like a good way to get nowhere year after year. I totally understand the perception that the ratio is skewed to having too many does. However if the total population of both sexs is below the Objective with is the criteria for not allocating DMP in a DMU then the answer isn't increased doe harvests. The answer is a decrees in buck take.
  17. It is unfortunate because it's bad management. Allowing that tag to convert to an antlerless tag potentially increased the doe kill in areas that originally either had a very limited quotas or in some case no DMP allocations. Our DEC can't have it both ways. Either you need specific antlerless harvests per DMU or you don't. By turning the regular tag into a state wide antlerless tag as a consultation prize you undermine the objectives. NY hunters need to wake up and realize the DECs primary objectives may not be what's hunters want to see in the way of adequate deer numbers. They would be perfectly happy managing a population at less then half the current numbers.
  18. Maybe a scarcity of doe sighting might be a good indication that your DMP tags are better left unfilled......
  19. Don't worry, I am sure I will give you other opportunities to critique my grammar and punctuation.
  20. Yea there are several that are too ignorant...... however my voice to text tends to screw things up. If you go back you'd see it picked up in my edit.
  21. Additionally the graph makes no mention of score other then a percentage of the buck maximum growth. So regardless of how big the buck grows he still will on average see similar gains per year based on his age. We have to understand that we are debating this with people that either just disregard facts because they dont conform to their misguided ignorant opinions or secondly are just plain too ignorant to progress simple biological premises. Very sad.
