Live from the rifle range
LET EM GROW replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
These were the first dozen or so down the brand new barrel using the sightmark wraith setting up the reticle zero @75 yards.. shooting and swabbing after each quick as possible since time was limited. -

I really think ill hold .5 MOA with both these rounds with a good trigger. Id like to work up to a heavier pill down the rd. -

Finally got the 22nosler to the 100yrd range.. Found out how really horrible the mil spec trigger is.. A new larue 2 stage is set for delivery next week. But for a crappy gritty trigger, this gun shot the cheap ammo the best. these are after shooting 12 times with bore snake after each shot.. 55gr Dogtown tipped and 62gr Varmegeddon hp(upper left and upper right).. I would like to think the new trigger will make all of these much better, It was not fun at all trying to hold steady and squeeze that pile of a trigger.. Decent start, but $26 for 50 rounds if they'll shoot less than MOA i probably wont even handload for it. -
Man "I dont see this plot lasting too long John . You got some hungry girls in that pic! lol Hopefully your bulbs are doing well!
-
Nice pics man. I love drone shots of food plots. They are amazing with the fall foliage and green lush plots. gets me all warm inside lol! RRan my buddies DJI at my place a couple winters ago. with a bit of snow on the ground this winter. snow makes some pretty pics too!

anyone rethinking the opener for a day off?
LET EM GROW replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Bow Hunting
Stepson wants me to take off from work, but I think we may just go after work instead.. take a day when its cooler out. like friday, or next week. hes super anxious to get in a tree. -
First doe that presents a good opportunity i will attempt to harvest, while waiting on a respectable buck .. But i also want to pursue coyotes more this year, so deer season may take the back seat..
-
My buddy lives down near poughkeepsie and has been seeing a ton of copperheads this year.. They can have them things! lol

Awesome! Are you anywhere near the Seneca Army Depot in Romulus? I spent my summers growing up in romulus, We used to watch these deer almost every night. The good ole days.

What are your expectations for the season?
LET EM GROW replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Deer Hunting
Expect.... nothing lol I always get let down.. haha.. I would love for my wife to get her 2nd bow kill, and for me to be in the tree with her. If she connects, my season is complete!! As for me, people's Greed, attitudes and B.S. have been keeping me from really getting into deer season lately.. No one can just sit back and enjoy the privilege anymore. they Just take advantage of others hard work and respect. I mean Id love to connect on a doe or good buck with my bow but.. Id honestly rather call coyotes these days.. Its a shame the things people do when your back is turned.. Hunting brings out the worst in many people.. -
Sounds exciting to me! lol Sure its not a woodchuck hole? with coyotes checking it out?

If there is any green left to the beans they may still be eating in the green parts.. As they turn yellow and mature they are basically un desired.. especially if there is a lot of greenery around still. Id focus more on hard and soft mast as well as corn, if your beans are not green anymore.., or in between

I usually see it for 8-15$ per 50# in my travels at local feed and seeds. And the country max stores usually have it for like 35$ per 50#.. what a joke

Fresh Cut Logging Road Food Plot?
LET EM GROW replied to Don_C's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Small Grain like Cereal Rye or Winter Wheat. Throw in your favorite clover blend too.. you'll benefit everything when March April comes around in Spring! You can try Winter peas too. Its a tad late but you should get some growth.. providing there is sunlight present. Cereal Rye will germinate down into the high 30s temperature wise and will grow down to around the freezing mark.. Plenty of time still sir. -
brush hogged and sprayed...Now what?
LET EM GROW replied to Buck_IT's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Buckwheat is great, but you may get some fussy ness with germination in no till plots. Just use the vegetation, a roller and future moistures to your advantage and you should be good. Tiller is great but you loosen and activate the weed seed bed every time you break soil. Which is no big deal if you have time to take care of plots/weeds etc.. either way its better than doing nothing at all as always. -
Awesome sir! Congratulations
