  1. Not for me, but as long as they came by the money legally and ethically I have no problem with it. A lot of people spend a lot of money on things I think are stupid and I'm sure I spend mine on stuff some people think is stupid. Hell, I sometimes spend money on stuff I think is stupid!

    Late Bow Season

I normally hunt late season with the muzzle loader but am not spending the $15 this year. Just going out with the bow instead. Try something different.
  3. Just a dusting when I got up at 05:00 but it's long gone now.
  4. Oh yeah? Come drive like we do in the Big Woods. Start in the morning, three hours and a few miles later run into the watchers.
  5. Get rid of Forever Wild and log it. You could selectively cut and fly the logs out and 90% of the few people who ever do set foot there would never even know it. I shot THE deer anyone in our camp saw this year. One. That's it. I think our hiker count this year was up to 12-15 last time I checked. People working on the fire tower challenge.
  6. Coffee and a pillow. Got mine on Veteran's Day up North!
  7. Refrigerated warehouse for last 18 years. Worked on the floor, in the yard, was a foreman for awhile. Now work in the office. Took the Troopers test about 15 years ago, got called and told them I changed my mind, give it someone else. Not my cup o' tea upon further consideration. Don't regret it at all. I do regret not going to work for CSX way back around that time though.
  8. Was in my local shop one afternoon and a guy brought in a rifle he bought @ Gander Mountain because they had mounted the scope where you couldn't open the bolt.
  9. Could be worse. In the background could be you, halfway down the ladder, with your bow on the ground.
  10. Remind me to never hunt alone with BigVal...
  11. Scents are something I've never had any luck with. Like a bleat can though, I keep using them just in case.
  12. Sort of. I don't use the scope like binoculars if that's what you mean; but I have seen a buck, looked at it through the scope and then changed my mind and lowered the rifle. I guess that could be considered the same thing, but I started out intending to shoot and then backing down.
  13. To me, bow or gun have the same rules: Never point your weapon at something you don't intend to destroy. You wouldn't practice drawing at your neighbor's (cow, dog, kid, car etc.) would you?
  14. Nope. Once bow season opens I quit mowing lawn. If anyone drives by and doesn't like how it looks, the key is in the mower, have at it. Have never seen a headstone that said "I wish I'd spent more time mowing the lawn and less time hunting."
  15. When I set up my return flight I did that on purpose. Left Anchorage 8pm, arrived in Dallas 7am. I say straight through but I'd wake up now and again for a few seconds, look around and right back to sleep. It was awesome.
  16. When I came home from Alaska I slept straight through from Anchorage to Dallas.
  17. A few years ago I woke up leaning forward at the end of my strap. If I sit more than about 3 hrs I'm out.
  18. We run a similar setup around McKeever. Good luck. We never seem to get many repeat visitors. Too much effort for too little payoff for most people. Kill a big one!
  19. I had a 99 Outback and I loved it. Brought a buck home from McKeever on the roof one time and brought another home in the back once. With decent tires you couldn't stop it, thing would go anywhere. If I ever find the right one when I'm looking for a car I'll snap it up in a heartbeat.
  20. I'm using these right now because they were $1.99 when Gander was closing so I gave it a shot. I like them so far. I was using nockturnals which I liked but the only issue I had, if you want to call it that, was the foil around the battery getting chewed up from turning them off and then they didn't always want to go off and would flicker sometimes.
