I'm going out on a limb, but I'm thinking you meat seeing the pins through a peep hole. I'm left eye dominant but right handed, and I shoot everything right handed with left eye closed. I cannot ever remember having an issue with the string "mashing" into my face, or not seeing the pins through a peep when I draw. When I get the draw cycle complete my anchor points are right on, I see only the pins. Is it possible your string has twisted and you may have to have the peep re-aligned?

Compared to the bow, I say a pretty small bear. As for weight, I'd guess 150'ish', but hard to judge weight from a pic. I bet the pic if printed would only weight a few grams though.

I'm not really hungry right now so my dinner will be a left over ham&cheese on rye from lunch in the woods today, and a slice of cold Price Chopper carry&cook pizza leftover from last night. The wife finished up the chicken chili she made for her lunches last week. No pics, sorry.

Ok so who hasn’t received their lifetime license and tags
DirtTime replied to rob-c's topic in General Hunting
Are the systems back up yet? I don't mean to derail the thread, but last night the wife tried getting her tags ( not lifetime ) at Wallyworld and the system was still down. Guy said it's been down for about a week now. -
I am sure the higher end cams last longer and will work better over all, I just don't need to break the bank on a trail cam. I saw those Tasco's at Wallyworld last night, $30. I was tempted, but as I said at the beginning, I am not a huge fan, so drooping a lot of cash on something I may only use for one season isn't in my way of thinking.

Awesome! Looking forward to the selfie of you in the new tree stand on 10/1!

Spent the day getting things done myself up on our private land. Set up a few new natural blinds, cleaned up a few areas, and made sure I had good shooting lanes for bow season.

Few hours today, got the camp site almost done, it's a PITA because it's a top layer of pine needles maybe 4", and then 8"+ of roots and old pine needles, not really dirt. Took time to use some of the timber left laying around to make a few new natural blinds around the camp site area, a couple hundred yards from the camp, and tried to set them up for different wind conditions. I usually won't hunt near it, but the amount of deer sign in that area was heavy. A few nice rubs, found a scrape back there that was never there before ( little shocked by that one ), plenty of fresh tracks, and scat. So, I will hunt the area this season. Buddies father has a couple of in-line muzzle loaders he doesn't use anymore, so he told us we can borrow them anytime we want, and we can go up there and he will help get us going and we can practice up there as much as we want. We plan to take him up on that offer. I never really got into muzzle loaders, I always like the bow for the early and late seasons, but as I get older, I seem to be changing. Then we went and helped give the goats the second round of shots. After that we sat on the porch talking about everything from hunting, to cell phone scams and butt dialing, to camping. Can't think of a better way to have spent a non-hunting day. I have some pics of the white peacocks in the owners flock I will get uploaded later. Pretty cool to me as I had never seen a white one except in pictures.

It doesn't! But its very hard for some to get facts or the truth right.

This article is a great observation. I do have a question though, and I am not being "that guy", it's a legitimate question. I also have a comment, and they are not meant to start a pissing match, just to see what people think. So, after reading the article, I noticed this 'study' was conducted in 2002, the article was written in 2012, and now it's 2018. Some pretty big time lapses here. My question is what's the significance for the here and now? Also, how deep is deep, I have hunted public land a few years ago where I heard others who hunted the same area say they were a mile in from the parking area. My reply for this area is, "Then you crossed a couple roads, probably went through someones back yard, and you are actually hunting that tiny brushy area next to the mall. Didn't the 'Best Buy' sign tip you off?". (Some will know where I am talking about ) The best way to avoid pressure is to really go where no one else wants to hunt.

I got a couple hours in the woods this afternoon. Nothing much new since I was in this area last. I did have to wait out a button buck for 20 minutes while he just did circles 60 yards or so from me. I will not mention where I was due to I want this little guy to make it though, and I don't want our resident BBK knowing where he is. Joking.....Kind Of.... Then while out getting some groceries, we saw 5 more fawns, 3 were def does, one was a spike, and one was hard to tell driving, but looked like another button buck. This I wall say where we were as there's no hunting, heading back from Shop Rite West on 85. Back into Delmar. Am I the only noticing I am seeing more fawns then mommies with fawns? Any ways....... Back up North tomorrow, clean up the debris around the camp site, set up a cam, have some lunch and head back home.

Nah. Just a lull I think. There's an entire board I would rather see go away then this thread fade out. I've been having phone issues, so my dinner was a handful of pistachios while dealing with those issues. I made cube steak, rice and steamed green beans, no pic, sorry.

Unsynced everything on my phone, and it's been off for a little over an hour while I was manually signing out of well over a 100 times I should have been logged out but it didn't register here. Going to turn on the phone and see what happens.

I was at a drive in just a couple weeks ago, two in my area. The only ones I don't remember are 6 & 8. Though, I wasn't around when 7 was in production, I do remember a few car nuts having them. I will call it three I don't remember, so I guess I'm older then dirt. I'm OK with that, I don't want to be young in this society.
-
Let me know the next time you are in the area and I will PM you my number and work something out. This is well said as well. As for the beer, just gimme a call if you are in this neck of the woods, I usually have a beer or two in the fridge, if not I can go grab some.

So Google says it's not them, Tapatalk says it's not them, WTF! I have checked everything on my phone, there's no good reason why I keep getting logged into this site without actually doing it manually. So, I check some setting on here, new area I have never noticed before, "Recent Devices". So I get too looking, and it has me still logged with my phone from way back in June? How the %%%% is that even possible? Can someone on the staff here please look into this? Here's a pic so show what I mean.

What knife will you be using for hunting this year ?
DirtTime replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
My mainstay knife is a folder made by Imperial, I bought it back around 1993 I think for like $30, to replace the folder I bough when I was 14 for hunting that I lost. I also keep a full tang Old Timer in my pack that I bought a few years ago. -

Why different knives for the NZ and SZ? -
That's odd, I can't find the page with the regs either now. I know you cannot use anything that has to screw into the tree, that's state wide. As for leaving them up, thats tricky as some state lands allow you leave them up as long as you have your name and address stamped on the stand. But, not all state forests actually allow it. Also, most if not all WMA's do not allow you to leave anything up even overnight.

This was all I had. Cheers to the folks who make the site fun and educational. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

I consider each and every member of this site to be a brother or sister in hunting. We may not always see eye to eye, or agree on everything, but we are still a family, and probably the most dysfunctional family in the world, we have all had times where we wanted to duct tape a siblings mouth shut, or worse. Still a family never the less. We all at the heart of it, just love hunting, camping, hiking, fishing, or just flat out being outdoors. When one of us down, most rally around to lend a hand and get things right. That's the thing that keeps me coming back to this site. Do I consider everyone on here a 'friend'? Um, no. This pertains more to the "Political" section then anything. But, I still consider all of us who are actually hitting the woods family. There are some great people on here, and I have learned things about hunting and fishing you won't read in a book, or see on some social media video site. So, to that I say thank you to all of the great people who answer questions and give feedback. Why am I posting this? I really don't know. Just something that came into my head and wanted to get it out there. Now, I am going to go see if I actually have a beer in the fridge and make a toast to some great people.
