  1. Been one thing after another for me. Still have the winter cover on my boat! Hope to get her ready for water tomorrow.........after I get the grass cut. Roll eyes........
  2. Just shoot it more. Most all my guns can out shoot me. But I get better the more I shoot them. That is a nice looking rifle! Can't wait to see it in a picture of you, and one of those big WNY bucks, this fall!
  3. No problem killing a deer with that beauty! Good shootin!
  4. Looks like a great spot, and nice job on the blind!!! I could sit on Pygmy's lap!.............er...um....maybe not. grin.
  5. What an honor, and absolutely beautiful gun. I think a display case, and hung in a prominent place in your home/trophy room, would be the way to go. Much too nice to use for plinking. Congratulations again Larry on your retirement. Job well done my friend.
  6. Happy Birthday! Hope your day is filled up with all the good stuff!
  7. That dang Senko will catch fish anywhere, anytime! How big, and how deep is your pond? You'll want to keep an even amount of feed and fish in there, and not over crowd. If overcrowded, fish in ponds tend to become stunted. Gotta say, from what you have posted, the new property looks fantastic!
  8. If you have power run to the property. If you have a well drilled. If you have a septic put in. You will be taxed accordingly. As all these will require a permit. Put your camping trailer in, build a small outhouse. Use a generator, and haul in your water. Kind of a pain, but could be done. And it's sort of like living in the past, but with the advantage of a modern camper!
  9. "ANY" improvements, ie structures, well, septic, even an access road, will increase the taxes on your land in NYS.
  10. A good example, of what adding some age to a buck can do. That really is a "BIG" shed!!! Wow!
  11. Sure! As long as you can carry me on the inclines!!!......hehehe. Did a bunch of hiking in my younger years. And enjoyed it very much! Mostly in the Blueridge and Smokies down south. I've logged 211 miles on the AT. And a bit in the Dac's too. Never did anything like this though! This is hardcore hiking!! You really have to be in good shape to do what you are doing! Sadly I am not anymore......... I would be up to having a beer with you, to toast your success after becoming a 46er!!! I think I can still handle that!
  12. My hat is off to you my friend! Great hike, story and pictures! I probably could have made sunrise.........in two or three days.......grin. You will bag the last 11 peaks before the summer is over, right? Good stuff John!
  13. Woody and snapper pic's. Got to be a good story there somewhere!
  14. As long as it's safe, I always try to avoid wildlife in the road too. But sometimes, they almost seem to do themselves in! No matter what you do to miss them!
  15. Lived outside Charleston SC, in Summerville, for a few years and really liked it! Great hunting and fishing! Beautiful beaches and rivers. But I fell in love with the BlueRidge and Smoky Mts of NC and Tennessee. Would make the drive up there every chance I got. If I were to move when retirement comes, it would be to the Ashville NC area. Taxes are very reasonable. Cost of living much lower than here. No stupid worthless gun laws. Still have all four seasons, though winter isn't five months long like here. Mountains, just a short drive away. Hunting and fishing opportunities abound! And are spectacular in quality and quantity. I too, love NY. But I don't think I can afford to retire here. I wish you the best of luck and much happiness, in your search, and retirement.
  16. Man, that looks good! Much better than my Cherry Garcia, yesterday! You really did your birthday up right my friend!
  17. I've seen bear and deer in the same proximity many, many times. They just sort of ignor each other. In spring/early summer, bears will take some fawns. But mostly right after they drop. Once they can keep up with the doe, bears don't bother with them as much. Coyotes kill a much greater percentage of fawns and deer than bears.
  18. Have that 1x4 on my Ithica Deerslayer2. Took a pile of deer with that set up! Great scope!
  19. Ya did good Larry! You answered every question, really well, from experience! Bet you'd give a hell of a deer or fishing seminar too! Wish you the best in retirement sir!
  20. We are getting quite a few visits of the little beauties per day now. My wife adores them! I think they are pretty cool too.
  21. Got some beans, tomatoes, and peppers in over the weekend.
  22. Sounds like an awesome outing! I love fishing the Schenevus! Usually start out by the Tanner St. bridge. There are some big trout in that creek!!!
  23. Hey buddy, hope you have a great Birthday! Only the best for you today!
