Sinister Clowns trying to lure kids into woods
grampy replied to Mossberg500Guy's topic in General Chit Chat
Just saw this tiny, little car pull up and must have been fifteen clowns got out of it! -
Yes, that's what I've read and heard. Should have been more clear. The double scent being laid down, on the way in and out is our human scent. So with more human scent in the area of our ground blinds, from two hunters, I was thinking the Ever Calm may help. Even when the wind is in our faces, we still leave our scent in the woods, coming to and going from our set-ups. Thanks for the tip to smear on the trees around your stand. Will do just that!

Everything is good to go. This ain't my first rodeo!

Wishing everyone heading out, a safe successful season! Try to help out a new hunter if you can. And a friendly reminder to ALWAYS tie in when climbing! Enjoy every hunt have fun out there!

Without a doubt! We have done it, now it's their turn. Great job Dad! Again, best of luck!

I've heard good things about the ever calm stuff. Never used it but maybe I will give it a try? I'll have two of us in the ground blinds this year. So double our scent laid down coming and going. I have well thought out entrance but close to the blinds, the ever calm may help. May give it a try in a couple early season set ups.

Pretty much everything from Hank Sr. to Bruno Mars. Got over 400 songs down for gigs. If you request it I'll play it! And I even get reqests for my originals every now and then. Depending on the crowd, a few R rated drinking songs too. Started playing almost 50 years ago. I've played in bars, cars, hotels and no tells, uptown, downtown and pretty much all around, in the country, in the city, places that gave me little pity, been paid and screwed, up and down and who knows, probably played your town!

At a solo gig. Doing my other passtime, playing and singing.

Wish you and your daughter the very best of luck! So cool she comes home to Dad for the first hunt!

Nice buck! Hope you get him! And if ya get a chance, zip one through that yote too!

He really seems to enjoy all that air and noise. But if I so much as squeak a fart, they run for the hills!

Originally I had commitments that kept me out of the woods this weekend. It looks as if I now have Saturday morning open! I have had a cam over to the lake property for a few weeks now. Soooo, I may slip in there and hunt the creek bottom, in the morning. And pull the cam or exchange the card, on my way out. My new hunting partner has baseball games at ten and two. So I guess this will be a solo trip. And "almost" all of the deer will be safe from me, until he gets his first.

Belatedly Wishing You A Happy Birthday! Hope you had some fun, ate and drank well. And were close to the ones you love most!

As everyone here knows, I'm kinda old school. That being said, I also, am a firm believer in never criticizing another hunter, because they do something different than I do! And it's always best to keep an open mind. Hey, I just may learn something new! I've mentored a few new hunters and I'm mentoring one now. And I tell them all, the best trick I can teach you is for "YOU" to become a better woodsman. That will do more for your hunting then anything you could buy in a store. And it doesn't cost money! Just time and dedication, to be better. To the OP I say, cool! It is something that interests you and It's your money, so give it a shot and let us know how ya make out! Then, I will learn something from you, one way or the other.

100gr Muzzy fixed blade for me. 100gr NAP Thunderheads for my grandson. I have had great success with both of these heads. Complete pass throughs and great blood trails. Old school, but if it works stick with it!

That's a big ol buck ya got there! It's an honor to hunt a monarch like that! Give it your best and good luck!

If you are going to have an addiction, growing stuff is the one to have! -
Do you hunt in the rain and how did it work out for you
grampy replied to LJC's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
Light, intermittent rain or drizzle, works for me. Especially during bow season. But anything more than that, may wash away a bloodtrail. So a steady rain will keep me out of the woods. -
I'm really hoping that there is some sort of hiccup and you will have your item by the end of this week. If not, then it's time to get serious!

Just wondering if the knife inside the grinder was nice and sharp? We will touch up the blades, after each use.

Every deer is a good one! What makes "YOU" happy is all that matters. Best of luck this season!

There it is, right there, thanks wooly!! It's the 1 percent that make the 99 percent of us look bad. And for what ? A deer? If he would have spent as much time scouting and learning woodsmanship skills as buying, carrying, figuring where to put and hide the bait. He could have easily killed that buck the honest way. I just never will get, how some people NEED to kill a buck at any cost? Is it to build your ego? Make up for other shortcomings in your pitiful life? I'll say this. Outside of a small population of hunters like the ones on this forum, the general population could give a rats behind if you shoot a Booner, as long as you do it within the law and with fair chase. Step outside the law, on a small doe and that same majority of non hunters will take notice and paint us all with the same brush. It's what you give back to hunting, not what you take away from it, that makes you a good hunter.
