Not as quick and nimble as I used to be. I would be an easy kill.

Steve gives down to earth advice without all the bling. He just seems to make sense to me.

Welcome Ray, nice to have you drop in! This a great place to share hunting and fishing info. Just pull up a seat and join right in!

Have fun , see ya when ya get back !

That is an awesome euro mount! The scull work and the plaque are top notch! What a wonderful way for Dad and all of you to remember a great hunt and deer. Nice job!

Your mounts are very nice! So cool! The pedestal mount is my favorite! Never get tired of telling the story behind each one of them. Each time you gaze at them, vividly recall the hunt. The greatest trophies are kept in your heart and mind. With the memories of the hunt.

Hopefully it was just someone lost and trying to figure out where they were. But be safe, and keep an eye out for for any more suspicious activity. These days you just can't be too careful!

After doing this job enough times, I can usually get it done in about five minuets. The last few years I've been using those plastic gutting gloves that go past your elbow. They keep me a bit cleaner and when done they make a great bag to put the heart and liver in, for the drag out. I do the butt thing first, then start at the sternum with just enough of a cut to get my fingers in there. Then using the shortest blade possible, no more than three inches, blade up and between the fingers, carefully cut to the pelvic bone. Then turn the deer on it's side to pull out the guts, cut the diaphram, reach in as far as possible to cut out the heart and lungs and pull all of it out together. For me a sharp, short, wide blade works the best for this job.

grampy replied to Grizz1219's topic in Out of New York Hunting
Some of us are "almost" as excited to see them as you are! Sure to be awesome! -
Congratulations! Certainly one of the best days of our lives. Wishing you and your children a lifetime of watching sunrises and sunsets together in mother nature's splendor. And later in life, doing the same with your Grandchildren. Yes, a great day to be alive...........

Sometimes the problem could be, not enough alcohol.

An out of state hunt anywhere for anything at anytime would be awesome! But I have always functioned better in the cold than the heat.

Hunting deer in July, cool. Hunting deer in July temperatures in the 90s and 100s not cool at all, and down right hot!

Hello, and welcome! Glad you dropped by!

Who can say they've seen a hummingbird courting dance ?
grampy replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
My wife loves hummingbirds. So I have four feeders set up around our deck so she can watch at least one bird most times. I've never seen "the dance", so cool you got to witness one of natures seldom seen wonders. These little bundles of energy with their acrobatic flight are a joy to watch. Bunnies and gardens don't mix well. Good luck with that! -
I'm with ya on all of it rob!

Welcome and thanks for stopping by. You can always find good hunting advice here. There are some good folks here happy to help any way they can. Just pull up a seat and join in anytime. Had another new member here a couple days ago from NYC looking for the same as you. I'll tell you what I told him. If you get up to the capital region, shoot me a message, and I can steer you to some good public land spots in WMU 4h. Sending you and your friend the best of luck for your first hunting season!

My MIL leaves animal tracks, and she doesn't have those shoes!

Find the thickest, nastiest, cover on the property. Set up for a NW wind to be in your face, just outside of that cover. Wait for the first good cold front, close to the rut. Get in there before light, your deer will be along at just about anytime that day.

My buddy Sam was the best dog I ever had. He was also a shelter pup when we got him. And I swear that because he came from a shelter, he tried double hard to be the best he could be. That he was without a doubt.

What a wonderful idea! It's easy to take nature and the outdoors for granted when it's right outside your door. Being able to organize trips to Mother Natures wonders for people, who would not get the chance very often or at all, opens a whole new world to them.

Go for it! Win, win situation! So cool to see the little guy's into deer too!

Biueberries are plump and sweet, black caps are coming along just fine, the wild strawberries are just about gone but were plentiful and tasty this year, and made for a nice jam sandwich that will be lunch today! The bears, birds, deer and other critters will have their choice of sweet stuff for awhile.

You did it again wooly! Amazing pictures! Very nice buck too!
