I may go out and try for a few this year while scouting a little for deer season. I used to hunt squirrel regular when I was younger but lately , haven’t had the time for that and salmon so , opted for the latter.

I live about an hour and a half from my hunting grounds so , not the most convenient for me to go and check my trail cams. I’d like to go about every 2 weeks maybe but is that too much where I can burn my spots do you think ?

I used to use the can but never did anything for me . I’ve actually read that if you don’t hold the can just right, the sound it makes is off enough to actually scare deer away; not sure if that’s true though

Same here. I ordered a Salmon fly rod a couple weeks ago , was supposed to be delivered on the 14 th ; tracking says it will arrive late: that’s it ! I’m still waiting . Will I get it in time for the run?

Right , the only way I would feel comfortable is up areas with light hunting pressure and / or in a hybrid g camp where I could let everyone know where I’d be and that I would be still hunting

I don’t know the law that well in regards to trespassing , so , am always very careful trekking around so that I don’t wander onto private property . Having said that , I have found myself on private property a few times after mistakenly wandering a little too far off course . I have never been confronted , but if I were , I would apologize , explain what happened and get myself back to the public side ASAP

I was thinking the same thing , that we may see an increase in hunters this fall due to COVID and more people with free time. That is both a good and a bad thing for us Regulars ; to be honest , not sure how I feel about it yet Lol

No , moving around while hunting slowly and quietly , paying attention to detail and taking considerable time to cover ground . I do it very rarely and only during muzzleloader season; just don’t feel comfortable moving around in the Catskills during rifle quietly like that , even when rockin the Blaze Orange. A number of yrs ago, I was hunting some DEP property and was coming down off a ridge and at the bottom , I see this fool pointing his gun at me . Never will forget that so makes me nervous moving around quietly . As a matter of fact -during rifle season and especially opening weekend -I’d rather make a lot of noise to announce the fact that I’m human , get where I need to go , then let it settle down . I just don’t have a great deal of trust that others WONT shoot at a noise in their excitement, despite the blaze orange
