  1. Yesterday, I booked 2 weeks at a cabin in Letchworth sp for next year's hunting trip... And I plan on fishing the heck out of the crappie and bass most weekends this summer at my small little lake..
  2. I use my dewalt drill, impact, drywall gun, skill saw, sawzall , etc..everyday at work .. the only time i have burned up a drill was drilling large holes with a hole saw . They just are not designed to drill 4" holes I guess ..lol.. I have used and wore out drill and impacts from every major manufacturer excerpt milwauki. They are the next ones on my hit list.. For a home owner, It is hard to beat a rigid and its warrantee.
  3. I concur. I think it would take both hands and maybe a few toes to count all the nice bucks I have jumped while tracking or stillhunting. Bucks that i never even pulled the trigger on. In general i can rarely hit a running deer cleanly, therefore i don't shoot .
  4. Agreed .. if more people would live by this. Unfortunately everyone is still not on the same page.. common sense goes a long ways.. I would care less if a neighbor tracks a deer, recovers a Deer, or even shoots one on the other side of the fence.. I would not expect them to actively hunt my property or sit on the line looking into our property though...
  5. I probably would check it out.. I wouldn't take it though. I would do my best to contact the owner and let him know, if the deer was salvageable.

    Iced gold

I'm not sure as I've had a better tasting fish than perch or crappie. You have been missing out..
  7. Deer, rabbit, squirrel, crow, grouse, pheasant, duck, goose, bear, turkey, coyote, . Everything legal to hunt up here and probably much that wasnt when i was a kid..
  8. Yup..ive been hunting there and beaver creek a bunch lately.. more than once I wished I had brought my swimmies.. lol. I still find it amazing that the deer can have trails through a swampy boggy area and only sink knee deep (for them) and I'm contantly punching through hips+ deep..
  9. I've never been completely lost. I have on more than one occasion walked more than a few miles back to my truck though.. ussualy after one of those all day treks through the big woods. I just had to follow that track or see what was on the other side of that last hill.. (another hill)..lol... One of my favorite pastimes when I had a bike was to take off and navigate by the sun..After 3-4 hours of riding i would head for home.. knowing home was NE for example I would choose which direction to take at any intersection until eventually I was back in familiar territory.. . There are not many rds north of Albany that I havnt been on ..lol. Now with a smart phone I always know exactly where I am. Takes all the fun out of it..lol
  10. I do like those pumps. I always hated the trigger pull on them though. It is what has always kept me from buying one.
  11. They do co-exist up here.. And it sucks! Part of the reason we have 0 dmps in my unit.
  12. Kiss a$$..lol. Jk.. I second that. I have spent a fair amount of time here. Even learned a little bit..
  13. Truck said -32 and it didn't want to go out in this weather either. Took a little convincing. Lol
  14. As long as you are sure you didn't wire to load side anywhere. I would replace 1st gfci. Or switch places with 2nd one and put regular one in 2nd spot wired to the load side .like in diagram. That is standard operating procedure.
  15. Imo..This is the the situation that our social services should be for. Do not be too proud to take advantage of it if it is truly needed.. We have way too many that don't pay their bills and are not worse off that are scamming the system.... Not sure what sort of a system you have that you need to worry about pipes freezing. (Under trailer, basement , or crawl space)? . Heat tape , insulation, plastic, and roll of duct tape will work wonders...lol... I lived in a trailer once that was a pain to keep water line from freezing ..
  16. I think the problem lies in the fact that the info changes depending upon the source. I have had conflicting answers from office, park police, and the local DEC officer plain didn't know. Sometimes the answer is different. They dont seem to get the answers straight until everybody starts questioning them. Then they finally get their stuff together and give a unified answer. I feel that some of the changes are as simple as someone accidently leaving wording out. Once it's out its the rule...lol.. and they don't even realize it until the questions start coming. Who knows. Right or wrong. I usualy ask the park police, they are the ones enforcing the rules.
  17. It is a cloudy system.. we asked the park police this year if bear was legal to take on park this year and were told yes.. He never mentioned that it wasn't open during shotgun.
  18. Good luck guys. -10 this morning here and I'm headed for work.
  19. Season just ended in the northern zone also.. I debated between 2 spots for this afternoon.. 1 was 1/2 mile from house and 5 minute walk to sit on the edge of a field. I have been seeing 5-20 does there every night. The other was a 2-3 mile walk to a spot that I really like on a piece of state land.. the 1st was close to a guaranteed shot at a deer. The 2nd I have never seen a deer yet but the sign is there.. I opted for a good hunt instead of the easy kill. Of course I came out sweating and deerless.. ..lol . I did find a couple more promising spots though.. Next year!
  20. Lol.. No doubt.. I have hunted enough field edges to know.they never come out where you want them too. Often, after a little time you can pattern them to specific trails.. but I have noticed the nicer bucks never seem to use the same ones.. I don't know this.. I have a feeling one is more likely to see a mature buck in a plot than at a corn pile?
  21. I would think that there would be a lot more personal satisfaction in killing a deer over a food plot vs bait. Similar to the actual hunt a lot of time and effort went into the plot.. I have a friend that shoots a nice buck every year in his plots. Simple easy,no brainer hunts.. in order for this to work. He put a lot of time and effort into the plots, hinge cutting , brush rows,etc.... I am sure more time ,effort and thought than went into some of his big woods bucks..
  22. Not much ... I'm normally not a food plotter or baiter.lol..a few times a season I do hunt my Apple orchard that is loaded with apples.. I have walked through the orchard to my back stand and picked up 1/2 dozen apples to mostly eat and the rest I would throw under the single apple tree I'm watching over..ussually there are other apples already on the ground but there have been off years where the was a poor apple crop and there weren't. ; ) Shoot me. Food plots typically will have a better benefit for the deer. More food.. I dont see a big advantage to hunting over bait vs food plot. If your hunting with a firearm who cares if they come out exactly where you want or 100yds on the other side of the foodplot.
