Sounds like a lot of wasted meat that he just flew over the deer taking off the easy big chunks. I reccomend going somewhere else

thats exactly what happened i stopped going to this butcher a few years ago and stupid me told the wife she could take it to this place because she had the 2 little kids in the car and its 10 minutes away vs 35 minutes away from the place i like stupid me shouldve made her drive the extra 25 minutes im really regretting it

whats warmness have to do with anything, sure deer dont move as much in warmer weather but its not 90 out anymore. id rather be comfy with light layers than freezin and bundled like crazy.

i was thinkin same thing tho, 20+ does and bucks thats just crazy id be in that spot everyday

Really not a fan of really warm for a couple reasons. If I hunt any but my closest spots I basically have to walk in in my shorts to not sweat and stink up my spots. Two, I hate sqeeters! Three, the deer where I hunt will not move in the evenings until just dark when it is warm. It is plenty cold now unfortunately on my way to NC for work.

More just personal preference. I know I will have plenty of cooler days.

Way to keep filling the tags you guys!!

Congrats to all the successful hunters. I'm a little envious of the nice bucks on the ground already but the season is still young.

Dave- the cut a rage 2 blade is unmistakable apparently. I was using 125s with the cut on contact tip.

Someone on here got his first deer this afternoon....wonder if he'll fess up to it.

A nice doe from the blind, too.

First deer ever and thrilled it was taken with a bow. Here she is. Now I have to butcher her. Another first, but hopefully not the last. Phade, thanks a ton with all your help. For the other forum members, Phade was awesome. He helped walked the land with me Saturday and put my blind in a great spot. Got her 1 1/2 hours into my first sit there. Then I called him so excited that he came and helped track. Great guy and member.

i got my doe opening day and didnt get back until late at night so my wife dropped it off to the butcher for me tuesday i just picked it up ive been pumped all week to make a fresh venison stew well i open the bags no stew meat and the worlds smallest back strap and she was a could sized doe. i doe have 24 lbs of ground venison and steaks and stuff but dam i want a stew guess ill have to work hard on that buck tag and take it to a different butcher she took it to my least favorite butcher.

That is why you gotta process yourself, don't waste a scrap....plus you know its actually your meat...I also use butchering time as a buffer of a couple days off from hunting after a successful hunt...good for me and my wife.

Got into the stand an hour before light on Saturday morning. It was cool and a little breezy. At 7am I had a nice 6pt come behind me with a doe. He was about 50yds out in some thick stuff so there was no shot at him and I wouldn't have shot him anyways because i knew I had better deer on the property. At 7:30 a doe came in, she kept looking over her shoulder and ended up taking off. hmmmm... wonder why she did that I asked myself?? I found out about 2 minutes later when an 8 pointer shoowed himself at 45yds. Nice 8pt out to his ears so I slowly picked up my bow and got ready for the deer to come in under 40yds and present a broadside shot. As I was getting ready I noticed he kept looking over his shoulder. That question was answered about 30 seconds later also when the deer that I have been hunting steped out in front of him!!!! Nice 8pt that I have trailcam pics of and really wanted to shoot. I named him "BLADE" becasue of the left side of his rack. I put the rangefinder on him and he was at 37yds broadside. I drew back and let one fly! The deer ran to the middle of the field and just stood there. I thought to myself did I really just miss the deer that I have been dying to shoot? NOPE not when I saw the hole that the rage two blade put through him! Suddenly his legs got really wobbly and he could barely walk. He stumbled into the headrow and died. He wlked a total of about 40yds from start to finish. I was super excited and so happy that I shot this deer! Biggest buck with the bow for me!!! YES!!!

Exactly the reason why I started butchering deer myself. I had taken a good size doe into the butcher and came out with about 25lbs of meat. I asked where the other bag was and check and see if it was the wrong deer.

I have been butchering them myself ever since. Its not as hard as you think.

You can do the cuts to your liking, no hair or bits of bone.

I bone mine out in the garage. If its real warmout, I skin, quarter it up and into the extra fridge for a few days.

Red that is exaclty why I process all my own deer. I know exactly what I am eating then. Good luck on the big buck.

Hey Everyone! This is Louis Backlas/ Cross Over the River Outdoors. I just posted a new video to my YouTube channel that I though ya'll might get a kick out of! Have you ever used a decoy to hunt whitetails? If you haven't before you might want to start! I woke up one morning and look out my front window only  to find that my 3D deer target was in pieces all over the front lawn! A fired up buck decided to take his frustrations out on the target!  this took place sometime in November during the peek of the rut. Hope ya'll get a kick out of it!

      Hey All,
New to the forum, already missing the deer season and have curiosity to quell. This was a great non-typical I was chasing all season in a bow-only area of Ithaca. Anyone know or hear of a non-typical of this caliber being killed? I'll be out scouting for him aggressively soon enough. Thanks!

Hello folks. I'm a novice hunter from almost Central NY. I live amongst the cow fields about 20 minutes south of the ADK park. I'm here hoping that I can learn from those who know more than I do. That's probably most of you. LOL. This is my second season and so far I still have all of my tags. I have a rifle but I'm not comfortable shooting it in the area I hunt due to people being near. I'm hoping to fill at least one of my tags before Dec 19.
